sparks50 0 Posted August 17, 2009 I cant see how its supposed to be different from playing on a desktop. I used to play OFP on a notebook often.
Alpha-Kilo 36 Posted August 17, 2009 I think it is very important to have a notebook with a dedicated graphics card. An onboard graphics chip will probably be a bottle-neck. I have a two-year old notebook which is good enough for OFP and ArmA1. ArmA2 works if you are willing to play with all options at he lowest, which looks terrible. If you want to google for the specs of my notebook, it is a Znote 6224W by Zepto. (Probably not on the market anymore, but you may be able to find a successor.) Please forgive me if I am too curious, but why would you want to play games on a notebook?

Alpha-Kilo 36 Posted August 17, 2009 Sorry, now I don't understand what your problem is: In your posting # 1 you asked for the specifications of a notebook which is good for OFP, didn't you? In posting # 4 you stated you have this HCL notebook and it is sufficient to play OFP. This statement answers your question, doesn't it? Or were you asking whether or not this notebook is capable of playing OFP? In this case I would assume that you as a marketing manager for OFP have a copy of OFP at your disposal, so that you can easily check how well your hydrochloric laptop handles OFP. mosh 0 Posted August 17, 2009 I have an old Dell Inspiron 8500 (2.4 P4 - single core, , 2 GB RAM - upgraded from 512 MB, 64 MB geforce 4200)... It is old, 5 or 6 years? Anyways, something that old ran OFP ok from what I remember (even before the RAM upgrade). I would guess any laptops you can buy now would be ok also. Hope that helps. riffleman 20 Posted August 23, 2009 Game work well on laptop, but big memory mission crashes.
icewindo 29 Posted August 23, 2009 Yep the CPU can be quite low, down to 1ghz (I used to play through the whole resistance campaign on a P3 800mhz, GF4MX440 ) , if it has a (For OFP) good graphics card, sadly even modern onboard cards are pretty slow. I'm running OFP on my Netbook (1GB Ram, 1.6ghz, Intel Onboard) and it runs worse than back with my old P3. Low FPS, only really small scale battle possible. The games that run really smooth are 2D (Sudden Strike, Aoe, Civ) or earlier shooters such as Jedi Knight 2 (with drop shadows) or UT. OFP has problems using the shared memory of the card, so the textures are very weak as it only detects 16mb.

33BO11OF00 10 Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) Laptops are designed for working not for games. They also get very hot if you play too much. If the laptop gets too hot it will break. This info is bit unconfirmed so try to get some more info somewhere else:). Edited August 29, 2009 by 33BO11OF00 More info

-martin- 10 Posted August 30, 2009 I can't afford to purchase a new laptop.as above i mention my laptop function,i need advice what to do. Help I dont know what other advice we can give you, you have 3 options right now: 1) Upgrage your hardware 2) Get a new laptop 3) Put your OFP on the lowest settings and see if it helps but dont expect it to look good. Hope this helps :)
grub 10 Posted August 31, 2009 Yeah, games minimums are fine for campaigns. Big stuff needs around 2.0 processor and 128 graphics or bigger. 2g of ram will also be better than 1. Looks like you'll need to keep it basic and turn settings down. Hope this helps. :D
