Mudkip 0 Posted August 9, 2009 This is really annoying, my squad has just taken an enemy town, I've lowered my weapon and crouched, we start taking fire so I right-click to bring up my sights, nothing happens, I die. Please fix it...
maturin 12 Posted August 9, 2009 Zooming in with your eye sometimes reminds the game that it can do the same with a gun.
MQ-9 Reaper 10 Posted August 9, 2009 Press LMB (left mouse button) instead of RMB and it will work. For some reasons, the RMB won't raise your weapon when you are in the crouched position...
galzohar 31 Posted August 9, 2009 A tap on the move forward will also raise your weapon (at least if it was lowered due to looking at the map).
frederf 0 Posted August 9, 2009 Back in 1.00 you could lower your weapon with 2xCtrl (or whatever the toggle raise weapon command was) but pressing 2xCtrl again would not raise it while crouched. In 1.20 the behavior changed so that 2XCtrl from weapon lowered and crouched would make you stand up instead of bring the weapon out. Different behaviors, both bugged and wrong. You can reliably bring up your weapon by attempting to fire however (for 99.99% of people, left mouse button).
sabre4809 0 Posted August 10, 2009 I'd really like the 'auto-lowering' of the weapon to be removed, its damn irritating. If I want it to be lowered, I'll lower it. Not sure why but...
galzohar 31 Posted August 10, 2009 Auto lowered because you use both hands to hold the map (though it's silly because after you open the map you can bring the weapon up without closing it). Starting to move again will automatically bring it back up, as well as trying to aim/shoot.
frederf 0 Posted August 10, 2009 I'd like the M240 to autolower after 10 seconds. It's amazing how people can hold this 40lb machine gun at the high ready forever. PT gods.

galzohar 31 Posted August 10, 2009 Without some real "arm fatigue" system or something, such auto-lowering will be nothing but an annoyance, as you'll just bring it back up right away, and the result is about as unrealistic as the current situation. Besides, the whole implementation on every aspect of heavy weapons of all types is done completely wrong in this game, not just the M240.
NexusPhase 10 Posted August 10, 2009 (edited) I have a question.... what causes your weapon to lower???? I don't think i had this issue a week ago and now it does it randomly... I tested it by just running around (2xW) and then stoping, sometimes it would be lowered when i stopped and sometimes it wouldn't it i noticed that it would be lowered more often if i started my run in the crouched position. so is your weapon supposed to lower randomly making it so you need to push LMB to bring it back up or is this a bug??? also is there a rais/lower weapon button that i can't find?? galzohar 31 Posted August 11, 2009 Looking at the map goes crouch and lowers your weapon.
NexusPhase 10 Posted August 11, 2009 Looking at the map goes crouch and lowers your weapon. OK so are you saying it should't lower by just running around??? because it does.
Mudkip 0 Posted August 11, 2009 How do you lower* the pistol? 2x Ctrl doesn't seem to do anything... *it actually raises the pistol but you know what I mean.
galzohar 31 Posted August 11, 2009 OK so are you saying it should't lower by just running around??? because it does. Of course jogging lowers your weapon (due to how fast your soldier is actually running), but I've never had problems with it not coming back up unless I had some kind of map usage as well. no use for a name 0 Posted August 11, 2009 OK so are you saying it should't lower by just running around??? because it does. I had the same problem in Arma1; but haven't seen it in Arma2 yet. Yes, I remember that was annoying! Seemed to happen more often then not when you came out of a sprint. I thought it might be a "feature" to simulate your arms getting tired; so never second guessed it

manzilla 1 Posted August 12, 2009 I get this as well. It seems to happen at the strangest times every once and a while. I've learned to deal with it but I could do with out.
Jimbo762.au 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Something like a low ready position would be nice: Or a patrol position with weapon at the hip.
ActionMan 10 Posted August 12, 2009 Something like a low ready position would be nice:*snip* Or a patrol position with weapon at the hip. You can do that with a head-tracker ;) (or if you bind analogue look to something).I go into iron sight mode (r-click), aim downwards at the ground (like in your picture), then use head-tracking/analogue-look to look straight ahead (up above the weapon). Then if I see someone, I can lift the sighted gun up into view and fire immediately.

I think he meant to have something more available for everyone that is naturally easy to use, just like it's easy IRL.
raptorko 10 Posted November 2, 2009 I did not find this thing debated anywhere else, so I will post here. How do you lower* the pistol? 2x Ctrl doesn't seem to do anything...*it actually raises the pistol but you know what I mean. I guess this is a bug, as you can "lower" the pistol when you open inventory while holding pistol. I was even forced to lower the pistol in campaing when talking to some civilians while standing, which means animations ARE there...only the 2x Ctrl does not work. This bug has another consequence. Being unable to lower your pistol means that it is less useful when in confined spaces. You will lower your rifle when you get to wall, but you will get stuck with small pistol only because you just have to keep it aimed? This does not really make much sense as it forces you to use long weapons for CQB instead of pistols. As I use pistols quite often, I find it rather annoying. I think it should be fixed in next patch. It should not be that hard to implement after all, right?. Have a nice day and fix it please :)
-=seany=- 5 Posted November 2, 2009 I'd like to re add that this bug/feature does my head in. I would like it to be the same as Arma1. In Arma2 he puts his gun down when you open the map..and leaves it down when you close it, why? It's not realism because if that's the case why don't we have to put our gun down ourselves before opening the map? If he can lower it automatically then he can raise it again, automatically. There is no point in being realism anal about just one thing like this, if it's intended that you have to raise your weapon manually after looking at the map, then we should have to do things like put our weapon on our back before entering a vehicle. Or lower the weapon when looking at the GPS or using binoculars. Our avatar also, as mentioned in this thread, puts his gun down randomly when transitioning from a sprint to a halt, or crouch. Haven't quite figured out exactly what causes it, but its annoying and makes the game feel clumsy.
