Who the F*** put number2 in charge ?

Recommended Posts

i'm about to commence an organised attack.

ive left some of the CDK retards (such as fuel truck driver etc) back at my base (Badlands).

then number2 suddenly thinks he is in charge (no i havent been hit or used team switch) and starts issuing 'return to formation' commands to anyone in the party who isnt standing next to us (namely the people i deliberatly told to stay at base). So all these people i wanted to stay out of harms way, start moving towards our group...and i have to issue another command to them to go back.

Its hard enough managing soldiers under your command without 1 of them un-doing your work.

is there a way to prevent this ?????????

unfortunately putting a bullet thru number2's head gets me in trouble

can we sue BIS for any heart attack induced by the frustration playing the game ? :)

Get one of your men to shoot 2? And I dont tink we cant sue bis for that since it would probally be a bit hard to prove ;)

Perhaps number 2 has an inordinately high rank set?

dunno

he doesnt 'assume' command, i.e. cooper (me) still has the icons of all the soldiers/F keys at the bottom.

number2 (sniper) just issues these annoying commands over the radio from time to time.

3 and 4 dont seem to do it.

Does it in ArmA too. Not sure why, but its obviously mutiny and 2 deserves to be shot.

It's possible for another group member (non-leader) to issue return to formation commands when you issue a move order to a subgroup of units. They will attempt to move in formation, and if any fall behind the formation leader (usually the unit with the lowest number) will tell them to return to formation.

but yeah had this happen a fair bit also.. seems to occur mainly when i start issuing orders from within a vehicle, and with the rest of the unit not in said vehicle. couldnt isolate an exact cause however..

Try assigning them to different colour groups.....

2IC will often take command when the groups are spread apart of the commander is playing foolishly :)

yeh the support numpties (who i want to remain at base) are already assigned to 'yellow' group, the rest of us (including number2) are 'red' group

number2 still wants to order yellow group members.

Did you read my post? Team colors have nothing to do with it, it has to do with subformations.

read it,

not sure what the point is though. i.e. i have given an explicit command to certain members to stay put. they arent in formation anymore.

therefore, why is another member in the formation trying (successfully) to counter my orders?

if we were all in formation and some are falling behind...i could understand that why number2 is trying to 'help'.

Is there anything written above your icon on the bottom of the screen? For example, if above your character it says moving/stop then the other guys will take charge. You fix this by going into status and saying "Done".

That's another good point. When you (as the leader) are not in formation (which is indicated by any sort of status written above your icon in the group bar) the next in command will become the formation leader (and as such will issue return to formation commands).

How did you order them to "stay put"? Even if not moving they could be in formation.

i just ordered the support peoples to move to another place, i.e. select them with the F keys and say 'move there'

will keep an eye on my status as mentioned by jakerod, should it happen again

Hi all

Happens when you go off on a solo mission or tell AI to do something on their own.

Press [0] [0] [1] to let them now you have finished whatever you were doing. You sometimes have to repeat the [0] [0] [1] a couple of times then press [`] [1] [1] to get you team to regroup.

Kind regards walker

Indeed that'll do it. Seems perfectly reasonable too, when you're off on your own the AI should be able to at least keep themselves in formation.

I found this bug alot of times in coop play, the group list gets outta sync

What I am saying is that... f2 shows he is f2, but in the squad list his symbol is not of f2, and he doesnt respond to f2 commands, and f3 is the f2 symbol, and doesnt respond to f3 commands but f2 respodns to f3 commands but doesnt know who f3 is, and f3 doesnt know who f2 is so they are like FU and do what they want

in other games its the dreaded, why wont the fooking medic heal the dude right next to him who is crying im hit??????? because the medic is thinking he is the squad number of the guy who is hit, because its fubar bad code, and a desynced gorup

I like this one.... "ALL Hold Fire" - "Roger"

"All Stealth" - "Roger"

BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM. #2 opens up. Why??!?! Nothing shot at you. Nobody knew we were there.

Then it's all crap from there on out. As every enemy in town now comes at us.

Like said many times, if the AI is detected he will open fire as if fire was opened against him. After all, what do you want him to do, wait until the enemy that detected him shoots at him before he returns fire? He was detected, no reason for stealth anymore (at least in his opinion, not actually true 100% of the time, but most of the time it is).

He was not detected. Where he was positioned, and prone and doing nothing. I'm WATCHING the enemy. Looking right dead at them. They just standing around enjoying a smoke. He's 30 feet behind me, laying down. How is he detected? How would he know? No..... this happens alot and it's ALWAYS #2 that breaks "do not fire." Even if I tell him to not fire while he's engaged, he won't stop. He'll just dump clip after clip at the enemy. You cannot creep up to an enemy position and look without somebody just opening up. You have to tell the moron squad to hang back a couple hundred meters and go look yourself. because most assuredly one of them is trigger happy.

It doesn't happen in Arma1.... least I haven't experienced it.

It does happen in the first ArmA and your soldier was detected. You may not have noticed he was detected but he was that is why they open fire in that situation. Realistically he shouldn't know until someone points there gun at him but he has some super sense that allows him to know when he was detected and so he responded by getting in the first shot. It can be annoying sometimes but it beats the OFP problem of watching your entire squad get wasted because they wouldn't open fire.
