NVIDIA video card(s) owners read here!

Recommended Posts

Guess, It's time to OC my gtx 260 too ....

I'm just a bit afraid of doing something wrong. My old PC has (Yea I still got it) damaged Radeon x1950 pro, overheating in 3 minutes creating tons of artifacts.

Because I don't leave in America (super cheat hardware & software) nor in euro zone (not yet), I don't really want to waste another 1 month of work for new GPU ^^ , but just by looking at how smooth it was on your video... I have to try something with my GPU .

Hope it will work.

Thanks for info.

download Nvidia system tools and do it simply and safely, it integrates with Nvidia control panel and you can tell it to find stable o/c for GFX or enter your own o/c and test if its stable. More importantly you can turn the fan up :p

(Although I don't know why you would want to overclock a 260)

Because its shitty, old gfx card and it wont manage even highly optimised game with smooth graphic engine like ArmA2 - even on low settings and low resolution. Better sell this sh*t and buy GTX370. There is a chance you probably be able to play A2 on medium settings then.

Hi all.

I have trouble with the game.

After smooth 5-10 min playing, depending on the graphic card drivers (Omega, Guru, Asus, Nvidia) some wierd artifacts appear and the whole system freezes.

This one is from ARMA I, but it´s the same.

sl270235.jpg

Only way out, reboot. :pet5:

The same happened , with ARMA I... I had to stop playing.

Other games work fine even Crisis with full resolution.

System:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234)

MB: P5K PRO

BIOS: BIOS Date: 03/06/08 10:30:30 Ver: 08.00.12

Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)

Memory: 3328MB RAM DDR2 (4GB but as it is running under WinXP...)

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

Display Devices

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC

Display Memory: 1024.0 MB

Current Mode: 1680 x 1050 (32 bit) (60Hz)

Monitor: HP w2207 Wide LCD Monitor

Monitor Max Res: 1680,1050

Any solution or suggestion out there ?

Thx :)

Compare high vs normal shadows with trees. There is nothing normal about "normal".

Datter: I can see that the tree leaves are better shadowed, but since I don't spend much time looking at leaves too much, I'm willing to make that sacrifice to the FrapGod. :)

I need the FPS for accurately finding and killing enemies... but I do want my enemies to look good dying, and at least 20+ FPS, too!

Cheers,

Hi, just read this nice Arma 2 video options tweak article.

I realized with only 320mb of video RAM on my 8800GTS, I needed to go down to "high" on the video memory (was on "Very High") and go down to "Normal" on textures. Turned off shadow detail and Anti-aliasing, too.

I did, though, increase the draw distance about 25%... I like to see the world as it is, gives it the ambience of the trees and hills in the distance. I like shadows, too, but they add less to the game feel for me... YMMV.

After all this, I got a nice FPS increase of about 30% (16-20fps --> 28-32fps), without sacrificing widescreen resolution. I bought a 1920x1080 monitor, and by-gum-it, I'm going to use every frickin' pixel. ;)

Playability increased quite nicely going to ~30fps, and the dreaded "white head" squad-mates (slowly loading head textures on my team-mates) disappeared.

Can´t find the "arma.cfg". Where is it in "Dta" ?

Finally I don´t know how to tell my fan to work harder.

The strange thing is, that my PC works fine with all other games (CRISIS which means a lot), but ARMA 1 and 2 and Autocad.

This is 100% some kind of memory issue. But I´m a Noob in these things.:j:

You need to download a 3rd party tool like riva tuner.

http://www.guru3d.com/category/rivatuner/

Or EVGA Precision.

http://www.evga.com/PRecision/

With either of those you can set your fans to manual 100% and it will automatically turn them up when you boot up your pc unless you change it.

Thx :)

I have one problem now.

For some reason both programs don´t let me adjust the fan. It´s greyed out.

Now, that worries me.

Can that be due to the driver ?

Or does my card have disipation instead of fan ?

Duno. I will try to install the latest Asus drivers, cause the card is Asus.

On EVGA precision it will be greyed until you hit the auto button next to fan speed.

Click AUTO then set fan to 100%, click "apply at windows startup.

Your done.

The fan of my EN8800 GT 1GB from ASUS somehow is not controlable.

I have installed the ASUS Smart Doctor, Riva Tuner and this other one and with none I was able to slide the fan.

It´s always greyed out. O_o

But now I have a new problem...

Now the game seems to crash, when I´m in a vehicle. O_o

I agree that they work well, I lost about 5fps but, all in all, smooth play and I have not had a CTD since I changed to them....perhaps it is a fluke, I do not know....and I do not care so long as it stays like this!

I just noticed in the Nvidia CP (190.62) under Stereoscopic-3D/Compatibility with games......... it list Operation FlashPoint and compatibility is "Excellent".

I'm waiting on the full W7 before I go and install all my older games such as OFP.

Has anyone actually tested this feature and notice any difference?
