walker 0 Posted June 25, 2009 Hi all Join an existing PvP clan. If you cannot find one: Why don't you all get together and set up a PvP clan. Then you can: 1) Create the PvP missions you like. 2) Rent or buy a server. 3) Play the games you want. That is what all the other clans do. Kind regards walker
mant3z 1 Posted June 25, 2009 And maybe we will do that :P
hellfire257 3 Posted June 25, 2009 Well, if you play with the AI on extreme it is as hard as it is against other people. They will outsmart you, outflank you, and use real tactics. Ive seen em breach properly and bound. The best example is when the fire team I was in g were supporting and holding the flank of the other team, and a platoon sized force came over the hill on our left and forced us to take cover in a barn. We took out half of them but the fire became so instense we were crawling on the floor below the windows. Because they couldn't move us, more reinforements turned up and they started blasting through the walls with Machine Guns and killed the whole fire team. jonneymendoza 10 Posted June 25, 2009 The reason why many people are playing coop is that many people are new to the series and trying to learn together the ins and outs of this game
thegunnysgt 1 Posted June 25, 2009 Yeah, me and a clan mate of mine got online to play one morning and there were alot of AAS missions running, we loved playing AAS, but when I get online at night, it is all either Domination, Evolution, or crCTI Warfare. Mickd 0 Posted June 25, 2009 for clarity now ive named our missions PvP so that people know they are such.
Panzeh 0 Posted June 25, 2009 I kind of think that ArmA as a pure PvP game is quite clunky and that ArmA is at its best when AIs are used to supplement players, players command AI teams in company or platoon sized engagements, IMO.
wormeaten 0 Posted June 25, 2009 I think this is the best time to start thinking about of creating „Project Reality mod“ for ArmA. I will just count few facts which support such idea. Fact 1. PR in spite of working on outdated game platform (BF2) it is one of most grooving PvP community on the net what prow value of concept which PR have and ArmA 1 or 2 doesn’t matter as platform for mod offering everything what BF2 and PR already have and much, much more so progress, growth and progress of such mod is guaranteed. Fact 2. ArmA is game which cherish team play, structure and communication. As game engine have more advanced team structure and communication system build in game engine than BF2 but it is not used on proper way just because there is no game mod which will force players to do that and that’s why ArmA looks so individual when you playing MP. Same difference is when you compare BF2 vanilla with PR. Fact 3. ArmA is pretty much open source what’s good but there is one problem with it most of that people work alone and we have hundred good ideas but when they are out in the public alone don’t means that much as it will if we gather them in one place combining in one mod. This lack of unity blocking growth of community and progress in development of this game. The critics goes to BI who obviously fail on that field not learning nothing from ArmA1 and repeat all mistakes on ArmA2. ArmA2 right now is nothing else than ArmA1 in new clothing there is no real progress in game concept. I will compare ArmA with brilliant sport car with top performance but this car have blockade and you couldn’t drive it more than 60kph and what they do they create better car with better performance but this car steel have blockade on 60kph. For example BF2 PR is car who has not that good performance as ArmA but use it to the limit so BF2 PR goes 150kph. I see that after ArmA1 how people after few month disappointedly goes back to the worse game but with more fun. I’m afraid it will be happened again because I don’t see any progress except graphic in ArmA2 concept is the same just new map. If codemaster with his OFP2 do something on that field it could be end of the ArmA and original concept of OFP. ---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:18 PM ---------- ArmA2 AAS map from CoolBox-SBS right now is in closed beta stage and very soon will be in open public Beta. For now you can play it only on AGW tournament server and ATOW Arma2 server DeDi. Check this server especially on Sundays. Last Sunday on ATOW server was hilarious almost full all the time (32 players).
swe 10 Posted June 25, 2009 Im new to Arma Her is my list från this thred: What does those acronym mean? PvP - players vs players AAS - ? EVO - ? CrCTI - ? AFAIK - ? I have a paper where i write the answer down so i dont have to ask again And i totaly agree with the spiritual meaning of this thread: these kinds of games should only be played players vs players, team vs team!! Bots should be forbidden: they destroy the servers.. ---------- Post added at 08:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:19 PM ---------- PR - ? BI - ? CoolBox-SBS - ? ATOW - ? thegunnysgt 1 Posted June 25, 2009 PvP - Player vs Player AAS - Attack/Advance and Secure (PvP) EVO - Evolution (specific MP mission that is Co-op) crCTI - Capture the Island (PvP) PR - Project Reality (Mod for Battlefield 2) BI - Bohemia Interactive (Developer) I hope that cleared up some things for you, the others I can't think of at the moment. Ketamine 10 Posted June 26, 2009 I think a lot of ARMA players that started off from the original OFP still have a taste for the great co-op scenarios and situations that OFP made available. Co-op is a great thing to play with the right people and with well made missions. OFP took co-op to a new level. For years before OFP, my friends and I played anything we could get our hands on for LAN based co-op. Half life mods etc. Then OFP came and it changed everything. Great co-op scenarios became a reality. Whether you like it or not, ARMA has that co-op blood strongly in its veins :) Personally i look at ARMA as a co-op based game. But i have played some good MP missions as well. But for me, its all about the co-op :) I think what puts new people off, is that joining mass public servers is always going to be messy. There is no organisation, TKs and general carnage/confusion. I guess the moral of the story is, if you want to enjoy ARMA in all its co-op glory, join a good community with their own servers. Make team mates and play together a lot so you form a solid squad or even a platoon! Only then will you experience the real joys of ARMA :)
Overwatch 10 Posted June 26, 2009 I play coop from time to time but I'm screaming out for more PVP servers. If I wanted to play against AI I would in single player. What I want is to play vs human competition with human teamwork. Fully agree with OP that 90% of the servers out there seem to be Coop
robs456 0 Posted June 26, 2009 Coops have their place, but I believe that the experience of playing with AND against a huge number of real people just can't be beat. Real people will create an ever-changing combat environment and to overcome the enemy you'll have to use all your wit and cunning. Not just follow the path of least resistance like in so many coops. That is why tourneys like Charlie Foxtrot exist, for those that want to take 'gaming' to the next level. I mean, there's just a great feeling having scouted some enemy position and when calling in arty you're talking to a real person who is firing according to your coords and adjusting fire according to your directions. (Example from IC-ArmA)
LtCol.Cowboy-C5- 10 Posted June 26, 2009 Cerberus5 -C5- guy's nightly in the U.S. are strictly PvP, C&H ,CTF, DM in arma 1 for over a year now only one's in U.S. that nightly is dedecated to these typ of game's.We are now working on arma2 games to heck with the coop. but it will take us a little while to get them up.We welcome player's all player's and and have a good time. unfortunatly right now we still playing arma1 nightly. beton 2 Posted June 26, 2009 I Think warfare and crcti are the best gamemodes so far. PVP games like deathmatch are too much arcadestyle i think. Coop is good if you play with five to six friends or so. In my opinion playing versus Humans is always better and more fun. But just because of the huge areas and most of the time many players not cooperating properly ( everyone always wants to fly planes and drive tanks) AI is needed to have a real Battle. As long as ppl dont commit to Teamplay and are willing to subordinate sometimes and there are no servers with about a hundred slots, crcti and warfare wont be able to show their real possibilities. Its sad but true... my opinion
whisper 0 Posted June 26, 2009 I think things will get better once newcomers will either : - have flown away from ArmA2, realising it's not their game - have commited and know now what to do and how it's supposed to work. The big issues from what I see is lack of informations and documentation for new players. They are completely lost when entering a MP Warfare/CTI without having a few hours in SP for discovering the game. Unlike other mainstream titles, A2 is a bit hard to just jump into MP and play. Well, not "hard", badly chosen word... just too vast and no indication. Perhaps more streamlined gamemode should be promoted more for newcomers (C&H for example). wormeaten 0 Posted June 27, 2009 I’m disappointed with some people on this community. Nothing personal whisper it is nothing against you don’t get me wrong I’m talking in general when I was reading some answers on other post too with similar subject where some individuals even treating people to leave game if don’t like things like it is now. Those are the people who stopping growth of this community and don’t forget we all was noobs ones somewhere. Help the new guys teach them how to play. ArmA is totally different game from other FPS games and everyone need period of adaptation. ArmA have best solution for communication built in game engine. Use it, communicate with other players Teach or learn from others we all could have benefit in the future if we do this. Don’t be afraid to speak over microphone and if you don’t have one buy it it’s just few dollars. All what I want with my writing here to push this community on action to do something. ArmA is the best game ever but steel just promising so if we want to use all of its potential we have to do this by our self working as team not individually. Cheers to all noob’s or vet’s. ;)
swe 10 Posted June 27, 2009 the more you play aema 2, the better it gets. That is good grades for a game.

wormeaten 0 Posted June 28, 2009 Those of us who would rather have PvP are in the minority:BIS Poll Most people just want to play with themselves. There is not issue here PvP against Coop. I like to play Coop too but more like to play PvP. ArmA already have Best Coop in the world but don’t have proper PvP at all. We are not against Coop but we want proper playable PvP too and you who like Coop treating us like we are yours enemies. Good PvP will bring more people to the community what’s mean more potential Coop players too and more populated server’s whit more fun.
jackoire 10 Posted June 28, 2009 PvP is where the actions at, its just a shame theres not too many missions :( Theres needs to be more missions in PvP, some missions are way to far to travel with no or not enough vehicals. Come on modders/editer wizards leave coop alone and get creating some PvP missions. PvP = Teamwork All the pvp servers i played on in arma 2 where awesome. Lots of people working together, which is the whole point of arma!
