New with a few questions

Recommended Posts

Ok so last week while searching youtube.com for some videos of the Cheytac .408 somehow i stumbled upon a flight video from Arma 2. Now at first i thought meh not even going to look at it (i had never heard of the Arma series), but then something changed and i did. Not knowing anything about the game i promptly reconized the great graphics, considered it a military flight sim and exited out.

The next day i hoped on the computer and being bored with nothing really to do said to myself lets check out arma 2. Once i did seeing the weapons selection, the graphics, the vehicle (air and ground) selection i was floored :butbut: . I couldnt believe a game of this magnitude existed without me hearing about it. Ive always liked shooters, but ive never really enjoyed the new style of Call of Duty type shooters. Mostly Sniper Elite, old old CoD online, anyways I always called CoD to arcadey and looking around here i believe this is how most feel.

Anyways to the point, i was wondering how exactly this works online, when you enter a pvp game are you confined to one sector of the map, how close does it spawn you usually? The biggest one i have is, is there AI on the map with you friendly and enemy, that help and hinder?

Anyways from what ive seen great game to the developers!! :bounce3:, And thanks to anyone who actually read this whole thing.

Hi, the game is great. Buy it! The missions are just down to the person who made them, You can have any combination of what you asked, the AI can be friendly or enemy or neither, you can play anywhere on the map and the insertion point is down to the mission you are on. It really is limitless! The scope of this game is constantly amazing and really daunting when you first jump in, but i urge you to give it a go.

Yeah... to describe the multiplayer or single player capability of the game without using general words like, 'flexible', or 'highly customizable', would turn into a giant list of possibilities, really.

You can cordon off a part of the island, but most games don't do that. After you die, you can respawn as a crow and spectate, respawn to control an AI team member, respawn to be reinserted by HALO, respawn back to barracks and need to hitch a ride back to the AO- anything you can think of, really.

 Wow that is incredible. Is the mission editor (im guessing thats what it is) pretty simple to figure out?

Mission editor? Well, in ARMA 1 and OFP i was creating big battles using it in just...i dunno...5 minutes? I also use it to test vehicles (and CRASH PLANES :yay:)

Its very easy, but at the same time advanced. u can make basic missions VERY easy with the editor only, very userfriendly editor.

tho, if you are gonna make advanced missions, you will need to script a bit, i personally use ArmA edit (a program that helps me with commands etc)

so yea. Very easy, but at the same time can be advanced. very userfriendly

Possible?! Man, you just made a big mistake saying that! Do not underestimate the power of The Editor!

I'll go as far as to say that generally if you can think of a mission it's most probable that it's possible with the mission editor, not to mention there are great resources like OFPEC for learning how to use the mission editor

Man you should see the CTI warfare scenarios, they spamn across the whole map, not confined to one piece of the map ;)

Or evolution if you are more into coop
