Placebo, i have a question:

are these sites reliable to buy a cdkey?

Absolutely not, these sites do not provide any legal means for the game's files/installer to be downloaded so we do not allow them to be posted about on here (as I edited out the links).

Noobkeys is a scam

They sell pirate software and stolen keys.

Besides, without a disk FADE will kick in and you'll be out of luck.

Who are you to represent Noobkeys? You are spreading disinfo of somewhere you have not purchased from.

For one, if you go to the site, they do not sell any software (let alone pirated). *You Lied*

Two, Pirating means "to reproduce without authorization especially in infringement of copyright" *Learn English*

Noobkeys does not need authorization for something that already exists and was created and distributed officially to many resellers (whether private or corporate).

You don't sell stolen keys publicly and expect to get away with it for very long. Grow up please. And post true and accurate information if you are trying to give advice or help to others.

If you don't know how easy it is to use a backup of Arma 2 and use a valid CD Key, then you have much more you need to learn about computers and DRM.

There are many people who buy Arma 2 keys and use on a backup. If you were scammed, then you report to authorities. You don't cry on forums and pretend you know something.

You run the site by any chance?

Either way, they and other CD Key sellers are not acceptable to be posted about on these forums due to the fact they clearly condone the illegal downloading of software by providing no legal means for purchasers to acquire the game files/installers.

seriously, this game is almost impossible to find a retail DVD copy in the U.S. I blame Bohemia for picking an obscure publisher to market their game in the country that purchases the most video game and multimedia entertainment. Not a single best buy has the game, wal mart and target have never heard of it. And best buy has it back ordered online. You people asking why in the world we would use steam instead of a hard copy? BECAUSE the HARD COPY is IMPOSSIBLE to FIND. I guess I could order the disk for delivery. Anyone know why it's so hard to find, even in best buy?

lastn1ght,

I'm not one for which hunts, but I really feel your pain so I'm going to light my torch and blame Got Game Entertainment. I pre-ordered from them on the 2nd (after cancelling a pre-ordered through Game Stop from the 20th of June when I found out on these forums that game stop wasn't going to carrythe game)

Anyway Got Game has had the game listed as back-ordered, and their the publisher -it's there friggin job to get the game out to other people and they don't even have copies of the game to sell on their own site

Just an FYI for Canadians looking for a copy. I ordered mine from NWS Online (mentioned earlier in this thread), and received it in 10 days and there was no additional duty/customs charges upon delivery.

Cheers!

I'll say it again... Noobkeys sells STOLEN and KEYGEN KEYS.

One of MANY sites doing so.

Much easier to install it from a dvd though... You'd have to install steam on every computer and considering the fact that steam is horrible, it isn't a very good option...

Takes what about a minute to install steam on the computer, log in and double click on ARMA2 and wow it downloads.

You can minimize the window and do other things at the same time, I'd love to try and do that with a DVD install, and you don't need a flaming CD key when you go via STEAM, thats gotta be the best reason yet.

Purchased mine from gogamer.com on Sunday, chose overnight. Got it today. On the site, it indicates that it is the import (UK) version, oddly, I just opened it, and it's the US release. :P Go figure, huh?

Ok this is getting ridiculous. I emailed IDEA Games again and was only told "please check Best Buy, Amazon, Frys, etc." I went to Best Buy today and had my friend check their system...guess what? Not only did they not have it in stock, they didn't have any incoming shipments. Can we get an official response as to if or when this game is going retail in the U.S.?

I guess I will just give in, and go play something else. I have kind of burned myself out on Arma2 playing the Demo for two weeks straight. I guess I lost interest in the game for now since I can't find it anywhere.

Oh well, off to Silent Hunter 3 for a few weeks. After that, Hearts of Iron 3 should be released. I guess I might make it back to Arma2 sometime during late fall or early next year. Hopefully it will be in stores by then. Regardless, at least I will be able to grab it for about $20 bucks or less by then.

Hope everyone enjoys the game until then.

At only £16, is Zavvi the cheapest e-tailer in the UK?

http://www.zavvi.co.uk/zavvi/10044005.product

That's 47% off RRP! (£30)

Zavvi may have closed its stores earlier this year but their website re-launched in March.

FYI I don't work for nor have shares in Zaavi :p

I just ordered from them last week and received my copy today!

Moreover I'm in France!!

Postage & packing (P&P) is free in the UK and only £1 for EU (vs. Amazon UK's £7!!).

I have a question I have not seen answered regarding Steam.

Like a lot of you I've been holding out for a hard disk, but no one seems to know when North America is going to be getting said hard disk, including Got Game Entertainment who is responsible for distributing this mythical hard disk to North America.

My patience is wearing thin between a company that for the last three titles have plum forgotten one of the continents and for a distributor that appears to be run Larry, Moe, and Curly. So aside from logging on and seeing this post by BI:

"Dear forumgoers, sorry for the mix up. We have just finished crucifying the CEO of Got Game Entertainment and their board of directors all expired last night in Iron Maidens. ArmA 2 will be available at all retailers in North America within the hour"

Perhaps someone can calm my rage by answering these question:

If you download the game via Steam is it still possible to-

a. create your own missions and play them with friends on line?

b. download mods and be able to connect to friends even if they do not share the same mod folders?

c. use mods created for ArmA 2 on Steam?

If any of the answers are no I'm afraid I must continue my Got Game daily rant and bash. If the answers are all yes I'm going to tell Got Game where they can stick my pre-order and download via Steam.

-Cheers

Don't bother contacting them, the company is such a piece of shit that they don't even answer emails. I don't understand why 505 isn't the publisher for the N. American version. Their website says they operate in Europe and N. America.

@ Door a jar: I wouldn't get your hopes up on a response from BIS on this situation either but if you are still interested in a hard copy take Mr Centipedes advice (I just did- 2 weeks late) and order from NWS-Online Store

As of today, they have the 505 version in stock (Christopher says that they have stopped sourcing from GGE due to complaints of poor packaging /damaged discs and will from now on only stock the 505 Games title).

Price increase (from original post) $42.99 +4.99 S/H USA 1st Class Mail

There's an existing Steam thread for Steam related questions, but to save your blood pressure, it's yes to all three.

My local EB Games in Edmonton now lists a shelf date of July 22, which is the second push back (original date was July 10, then July 17).

It continues to flabergast me why it is SO difficult to get a title to market in North America. In the meantime this market continues to be marginalized by the previously released digital version and foreign boxed editions, which just worsens the sales of boxed titles in North America that causes many publishers to stay away from titles like this and perpetuates the seemingly relentless drive to digital/foreign only distribution.

There, I said it.

/me goes back to waiting, and waiting, and waiting... :P
