jonneymendoza 10 Posted June 2, 2009 Hi. i am looking to get this game. i have come from a background of typical fps shooters such has cod and the battlefield series and was wondering how difficult is this game to get into seeing as its a proper simulator? Is it a sim along the lines of the OLD rainbow 6 games on the pc where one shot from certain areas of your body is enough to kill you and how short bursts of fire works best instead of spraying and having your gun jerk all over the place? To my understanding, you can do online coop on the main story campaign? Are the maps as big as fallout 3's world? i get the impression that they are as huge as that! are there any PVP modes that are similar to battlefield conquest mode? Is there a battlefield mod for this game? What are the player counts for both coop missions and pvp game modes? Cheers in advance for these questions as i am looking forward to this game

celery 8 Posted June 2, 2009 I'm not sure how big Fallout 3's world is but Chernarus is an immense land mass with dozens of settlements and lots of hills, fields and forests that takes more than a lunch break to cross by foot. The infantry combat mechanics are fairly realistic, guns have close-to-real ballistics and damage. The multiplayer scene is still in its infant stage until mission makers have finished playing around and start making custom missions and you can be sure that there will be Battlefield style Capture & Hold missions. aussieterry84 10 Posted June 2, 2009 MUCH MUCH bigger than Fallout 3's world, yeah i was addicted as all hell to that game aswell :P spent 50+ hrs before finally clocking it and still didn't see that much! ArmA II's Country is prob 4-6 times bigger than that of Fallout 3 not too sure but Fallout 3's city is nothing compared to ArmA's Country :P. Maybe Placebo can lend you some of his hacks to help you in online play? ;)
mattxr 9 Posted June 2, 2009 Let me join in and sum up somethings :j: :D Is it a Sim along the lines of the OLD rainbow 6 games on the PC where one shot from certain areas of your body is enough to kill you and how short bursts of fire works best instead of spraying and having your gun jerk all over the place? Of course its a gamers battlefield simulator, this is what its all about realism To my understanding, you can do online coop on the main story campaign? Are the maps as big as fallout 3's world? i get the impression that they are as huge as that! The maps are as big as the island, which is huge! 225 km2 to be exact bigger than any FPS you will have played. are there any PVP modes that are similar to battlefield conquest mode? Is there a battlefield mod for this game? Battlefield Game Whats that? Battlefield Mod? The game was just released few days ago lol. What are the player counts for both coop missions and pvp game modes? Anything what the mission designers want it to be really, there is no limit. Usually around 5+ to 50+
Placebo 29 Posted June 2, 2009 Battlefield Game Whats that? Battlefield Mod? The game was just released few days ago lol. I told him previously Warfare is somewhat along the same lines ;)
jonneymendoza 10 Posted June 4, 2009 col thanks for the comments. sounds like an epic game! About the single player campaign mode. i heard from another thread that only 4 players can play that together in coop mode :( http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1295091&postcount=
maddogx 13 Posted June 4, 2009 col thanks for the comments. sounds like an epic game! About the single player campaign mode. i heard from another thread that only 4 players can play that together in coop mode :(http://forums.bistudio.com/showpost.php?p=1295091&postcount=11 That's because there are only 4 playable main characters in the campaign. (The team leader is always AI controlled.) There will be other coop missions though, where you can play with a lot more people. :)
Placebo 29 Posted June 4, 2009 And it's quite possible someone will mod the campaign to open up more COOP slots ;)
hoak 0 Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) I got snowed with PM's and quesitons from the NA thread from a lot of people new to ArmA, and made this post as sort of a 'what to expect', and to head of some of what seems to discourage realism Fans that have saked their enthusiasm in other games... :butbut: Edited June 4, 2009 by Hoak
