The Masta 0 Posted May 24, 2009 People, the game isnt even out yet :p True. But I somehow doubt BIS will make any DLCs they'll probably do content patches or an addon.
Sosna 0 Posted May 24, 2009 If Bis would be up for it to whip their artists a bit a Chernarus winter version would kick ass :) with all the art assets of course converted into winter versions. :D Winter/spring/summer versions of Chernarus would be great. (it was always my dream to have seasons in OFP) Also, I would like a nice long campaign for each faction.
jarp 0 Posted May 24, 2009 Since ArmA I and propably ArmA II as well is/will be extremely modder-friendly, there isn't a need for official DLC. BIS just needs to provide bugfixes and patches and the modding-community will take care of the rest. :p ArmA I just proved that with the CWC-campaign being released as a mod. celery 8 Posted May 24, 2009 Since ArmA I and propably ArmA II as well is/will be extremely modder-friendly, there isn't a need for official DLC. If official extra content wasn't released for OFP, almost nobody would have used G36, M2A2, Apache, handguns or Nogova for their missions even if they were released by the community. Heatseeker 0 Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) A new island and a Russian campaign would be great :) . Perhaps a new animal... bear... More vehicles? Perhaps CH-53, Mi-26 and BMD. Edited May 24, 2009 by Heatseeker
telejunky 0 Posted May 24, 2009 the advantage of 'official upgrades' with patches/addons is that (mostly) everyone will have them :) It is cool to play a coop with special addons with your clan mates but to rule large battles it is better to get official weaponry, vehicle updates... EricM 0 Posted May 25, 2009 Official makes all the difference for Public MP and mission making: everyone has it, even non hard-core players, and the quality is more consistent. For SP and Clans, it doesn't matter as much... + it's a little more cash for BIS to support the game. At last, with each new generation of the engine, it gets harder and more time consuming to develop addons that look as good as the originals : see the MI24 in game ? How long will it take for the community to produce addons of that quality with all the great shaders and details ? A LOT !!! I know, I worked on a Hind before, and though it's rather easy to get the rough shape right, the time you spend on fine tuning the details, UV, textures, specular, normals etc... is sickening (and don't get me started on the cockpits). For OFP, it was easy to make something that looked as good as the original (blocky geometry, simple low-rez texture, lousy UV), for Arma 1 it's a little bit more tricky (more details, more attention to UV, multi-stage materials, higher quality maps), for Arma 2 it will be a pain to match the quality, and only professionnal-grade modelers and texture artists will be able to output game-quality mods... That's how things go... the better looking and realistic, the more time consuming and complexe it will be. Otherwise, simple OFP-ported addons will look like a sore thumb in the lush and detailled gameworld of Arma 2.
NoRailgunner 0 Posted May 25, 2009 BIS cant please all - I would prefer an expansion or addon DVD with factions (campaign/mission) related content. Its great if players could gain some more insight on every faction = 6 campaigns (SP and Coop). :) Winter Chernarus incl. vehicles, units, sounds etc would be nice too! sk3pt 0 Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) I'm mostly interested in new features - like being able to walk on/in moving vehicles. As for vehicles, I would like to see a high quality BIS Mi-28 "Havoc". Excluding the rotor, it looks like something straight out of Star Wars. Edited May 25, 2009 by sk3pt

Gryphonheart 10 Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) Good expansion will need a new map.. when S. Zagoria will be liberated, there are also some big rivers and a capital city on the West. After the first campaign, US forces left S. Zagoria, but Russia later invaded the country. Ideal scheme for a new resistance-style campaign.. :-) Edited May 26, 2009 by Westmoreland East vs. West
vasmkd 12 Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) A Russian Campaign NAPA campaign where u steel alot of equipment and force russians/US and others to retreat ChDKZ campaign and CDF campaign in one addon (little shorter campaigns than us/russian but both campaigns can make it as long as original campaign) A balance of russian/USA vehicles/weapons/aircraft for multiplayer purposes, especially the aircraft...add to russians a Il-76, SU-47 and UCAV like mig skat Also more aircraft for other factions like Mig-29, Su-24, Su-27, Mig-21, Mig-23, An-2, An-12, An-26 etc. Also some more civillian aircraft A balance of weapons/vehicles/aircraft for ChDKZ vs CDF multiplayer games Edited June 4, 2009 by vasmkd
metalcraze 290 Posted June 5, 2009 DLC is a concept that should die. I don't want to pay something like 1/5 of the game's price just to get a few new units. Besides BIS had no problem including new units in mere patches earlier.

metalcraze 290 Posted June 5, 2009 Yes - they were called patches in ArmA and OFP. I doubt the OP have meant anything like that as it already existed, especially when he was speaking about Codemasters' DLC which obviously won't be free.

No, I was not refering to CM's excuse-for-a-sequel to OFP, and DLC isnt all that bad, sometimes it is of course a rippoff, but a few bucks for a new campaign and some new units made by proffesionals would definately be worth it IMO.
