I noticed that there will be an A.A.S. in ArmaII. Will the player be free to walk on it while it's moving?

And by the way, does this open the road for vehicles that will allow the player to shoot his own weapon while in them?

:j:

You wont be able to freely walk on a moving object, sadly.

Where did you draw that conclusion from Victor? It was neither confirmed nor denied by BIS. With the inclusion of the V-22 and the C-130, and its inclusion in VBS for the past two years, I would think that they would add walking inside moving objects.

In one video i even saw the player move into the Huey on standby on deck... so should be possible...

PhilippRauch: question here is if BIS altered their engine so that Huey doesn't fall off when the ship moves ;)

form what i know, the carrier is not a vehicle but a static object. so you are able to move on it. about moving on moving vehicles, i don't know.

Engine definitely allows you walk on moving objects like here:

Depends does they add it or it's still VBS2 exclusive. I think it's kind a reasonable that game will include such feature...

What's the point in having a carrier that doesn't move? Isn't this the whole point??

AFAIK moving and shooting in vehicles is something that has been constantly requested since OFP.

I know that BIS is keeping this feature for VBS, but there would be an even greater profit margin for them, if they added small details like this in ArmA.

Brilliant example Mafia. BIS have placed a huge amount of effort into ArmA 2. I doubt they are just going to leave us with ramps that do not open.

The C-130 looks like it is from VBS 2, and the ramp can be opened on it too. I doubt BIS are out to remove features and possibilities for modders. Hopefully the V-22's ramp can be opened as well.

ArmA 2 is meant to be a step forward. The great thing about VBS 2 for the military, is its capability (maps 10,000 km sq) and the ability to link it with other military simulators. VBS 2 does not cost $1500 because you can walk inside moving vehicles, nor is moving around in an airplane some highly secret military tactic.

VBS is a different thing altogether, so don't hold your hopes up. Different customers, different requirements...

Yes, I actually expected that one could finally drive/walk in vehicles in ArmA 2...

But WHY isn't it the case? :(

Who CONFIRMED no moving inside vehicles? No one yet, as far as I know.

The signs all point towards moving inside vehicles, they DID add aircraft with cargo bays!

MehMan, that is a very, very ambiguous point. What exactly are our requirements, as civilians? Do we require realistic ballistics? Sound occlusion? Realistic optics? No, we do not require a military simulator in the first place. But BIS still delivered it to us.

If we don't require moving inside vehicles, why did we receive any of the above? Why should we be excluded from a simple (not from a coding standpoint) feature like moving inside vehicles?

You could also say, that within the simulator, we have the requirement to move vehicles around quickly. ;)

I think most work will be spent on gameplay this time i.e. nice storyline, proper campaign and such things that keep a game interesting... walking and shooting from/inside vehicles ... maybe but i rather guess it will be up to the community to do such things, thats ok for me. Look at what the community did already... NO gamepublisher nor producer could create THAT much HIGH quality content than this community did, even down to altering engine behaviours (somehow).

I really believe that they put most effort into bugsquashing and aforementioned gameplay stuff than in little 'gimmicks' ... honestly ... in the beginning we will be much more taken in by the whole situation and HUGE terrain with procedural plants and being keen on exploring the new engine possibilities than shooting from a vehicle, i mean you can do that already, just not with your personal weapon... very minute detail for me ...

One review said they "added some VBS1 and VBS2 features" ...... VBS2 definitely has "move around moving vehicle" i.e. videos of player walking around flying Herc with ramp down.

*cross fingers*

I now see a Frigate in one recent screenshoot !! *grins widely*

That requires physics, which BIS hasn't been really known for :)

I understand that you need to have a good playable game in order to make a profit, and that 'gimmicks' like walking inside vehicles is a waste of time and money in the eyes of the publisher. however you emphasize that the modding community is key to the success of OFP and ArmA, personally i think it's more important to create a SOLID and bugproof (as you stated), engine so that the community can produce more content, better looking models and postproccessing effects can be added by the modders, but serious engine modifications are still difficult if not impossible for even the best of modders.

I would love to see walkable collision meshes inside vehicles in ArmA II, it would greatly improve the immersion if you could load a supply truck into a C-130 or lower the ramp on a V-22 and storm out, however i dont think we'll see it in this game.

Give me a break... even years old Joint Ops from Novalogic is more advanced in that matter with similiar terrain sizes/vegetation etc. I remember we've used machineguns from MH6 to repel any enemy fire at LZs. Also once a driver of a truck floored it and we were at the back (at least 6 guys) firing in all directions when we entered the enemy controlled village in PvP :) in ArmA when you're a passenger in chopper/car/truck/APC you can only pray that AI/human on the other side is incompetent enough until you disembark =)

Don´t know there are so many other games out there with a lot of other features which could be build in ArmA2. But you can´t have every feature put into one game, thats impossible. The most important thing is to get rid of most ArmA bugs as good as possible, every other feature on top of it is a nice + plus for me.

Couldn't agree more. You can't have all features in one game, to get rid of bugs and great AI are priority in ArmA 2, everything else is more like a bonus.

Damn, that video made me wish CH-53's were gonna be in ArmA2 :(

Also those cities are huge, like a dream come true for a large CQB, did Foxhound ever update or release that map?
