echo1 0 Posted July 26, 2009 To get advantage of dual channel you need to change to 2x2048 and read manual for mb to find out which slots you should use. If you have 4 sticks, it means that you have two dual-channel RAM channels. However, 2x2GB sticks is preferable to 4x1GB sticks for the simple reason that if you go to upgrade in the future, you don't have to throw away some of your RAM to make way for the new stuff. ForeverOmega 10 Posted July 26, 2009 Hey yall, long time follower for ARMA 2, didn't really Enjoy the first but i liked what i played of the demo and the videos and big follower of OFP2 and PRoject Reality but anyway's i was seeing what yall were typing and i was wondering if anyone has this set up and what are the specs they can run it at. Vista GTX 260 Core 216 SLI i7 920 (Not Overclocked) Or 4890 1gb Crossfire 4Gigs of DDR3 ram What is the exact settings and can i run AA on with either? echo1 0 Posted July 26, 2009 In the time it will take for someone with the exact specs to find your post, you can download the demo and check for yourself. Bare in mind that ArmA2 and SLI/Crossfire aren't completely compatible, you may not to play around with your driver settings (plenty of guides around if you search for it) to get the full effect. GTX 260 Core 216 SLIi7 920 (Not Overclocked) Or 4890 1gb Crossfire So wait, which one do you have? GTX260 SLI or 4890 Crossfire?

I'd suggest you go for one card rather than SLI.. dunno if it equates to a GTX295 if u got rid of one of the cards? Otherwise how about a GTX280/285?
Plumb-82nd- 0 Posted July 26, 2009 swap the 9400GT and the 9800GTX over :p(and probably the power supply too) Agreed. That power supply isn't cutting it.

oyman 0 Posted July 26, 2009 Vista GTX 260 Core 216 SLI i7 920 (Not Overclocked) Or 4890 1gb Crossfire 4Gigs of DDR3 ram What is the exact settings and can i run AA on with either? I have a i7 920 and a gtx260 with 3gb of ddr3 ram at 1600mhz and I can run at High settings with normal AA and AF with barely any lag, even through the campaign. You should also look into getting a triple channel memory kit.

thegooseisloose? 10 Posted July 27, 2009 Does this game fully utilize quad core? I think it might, im pretty sure its optomized for multiple cores, i dunno about 'fully utilizing' them though.

filth merchant 10 Posted July 27, 2009 i'd love an official BIS answer on this if possible. does arma2 fully utilise quad core? or is a dual core just as good? specifically, what's better... a kentsfield qx6850 or a wolfdale e8600? (if both are overclocked). secondly, does arma2 take advantage of the sli system and utilise both graphics cards in a noticeable way? thanks.
WannaBeMarine 10 Posted July 27, 2009 Arma2 uses all four of my cores on my q9550 overclocked to 3.4ghz, and both of my gtx 260s. I did have a dual core e8400 that just was not up to snuff even with both cores in use. I am not BIS, but it works for me.
R3MF 0 Posted July 27, 2009 i sincerely hope so, as my PC has both a quad CPU and a 9800 GX2 SLI GPU.
wooly-back-jack 10 Posted July 27, 2009 Have a look here. I know it's only one benchmark but it actually has the 4890 over the GTX285 for ArmA2 at 1280x1024 with a fillrate of 150% and everything on normal with low AA and AF, what kind of settings are they for those cards? lol Needs moar benchmark. (Don't get me wrong, my next card is going to be Ati, they seem to last longer than Nvidia in minimum and recommended specs on games)
Gringo85 0 Posted July 27, 2009 Updated from dual core CPU to quad core CPU and I'll tell you will see a different, especially in FPS inside the FPS killer Arma II cities. Quad core deffinatly improves and it's better in Arma II. CPU in Arma II is the key, I recently upgrade and I'm basing my thoughts in experience. My 2 cents. Daddl 10 Posted July 27, 2009 Any chances to get Arma running decently on my notebook: Core 2 Duo P8600@2.4 GHz, 4GB ram, NVidia 9300M GS (256 MB dedicated VRAM), Vista Business 32bit? The demo runs like shit even on low resolutions and using reduced quality settings... I guess the gfx card is the main bottleneck, but using which settings might the game be actually enjoyable on a rig like this?
