Aw c'mon I've meet real game dev people and they refer the current gen consoles as next gen consoles sometimes  

They allways refer to them like this . Next gen in out current gameing vocabulary means : XBox 360 and PS 3.

I dont know why we keep debating ...

Okay then. Let's assume it means Xbox 360 or PS3. I'd like to point out that the official word is: "Platform: PC and Next Gen Console (TBD)"

TBD standing for To Be Determined. What the f***, right? Game due out in a few months (or is it) and they haven't even determined what machine they are making it for?

In my opinion, simulataneous release is totally off the table. Maybe they will start working on the port after the PC version is out, if it's technically feasible to begin with, which it might not be.

They might actually have semi-finished versions and test ports for all platforms. It would not be a big surprise if they end up delaying the release date even more. Something like Q3 or Q4, if things don't turn out as planned. How many multi-platform game titles actually are finished in the initially estimated time frame? Recently I remember none.

I think they got most of the pc version done and have somewhat xbox version being fine tuned, last interviews I heard from Bis was that they are in the finetuning phase.

Official XBOX360 titles have to be approved by MS if I'm not completely mistaken. How does MS take the almost open source-like approach that the earlier BIS games have? Perhaps they run into wall and had to change things.

And all this is just waste of time, useless speculation and creating a pointless list of what ifs

What all this bs about the freakin consoles. Please be aware if you want to play realistic simulations and games like arma2 but a pc and keep the arcade stuff for consoles .

@oscar: there is no need for such comments. People are well aware what is available on consoles versus the type of games there are on pc. And BIS allready prove themselves and the OFP like gamestyle to work great on a console without being arcade.

OT: (or at least what seems to be the topic)

It might not be BIS who has the final word on which console, as long as there is no publisher interrested in releasing a game like ArmA2 for 'a public that only plays arcade games' (general thought, not mine, read above)

And console doesn't = dumbed down if the developers make it so, Flashpoint Elite wasn't dumbed down.

1; there is a market for couch potatoes , 30 + million couch potatoes can't be wrong , sale and demand ..

2; a 11 a side football team and a 5 a side football team still play the same game of football but 5 a side on a much smaller pitch with less players so i guess you can say its a dumbed down game of football but still some play this type of game .

3;the pc community gives this game enough attention with mods etc , why would you need any more attention ? d I Y as your able too  ....

Support your game developer so they can make better games for the future,

i do believe it is being released on pc so why should it matter what other platforms it's released for ? .....

No it shouldn't.

And console doesn't = dumbed down if the developers make it so, Flashpoint Elite wasn't dumbed down.

- erratic, arcadish movement caused by controller input

- no TrackIR/free head movement that makes OFP/ArmA so special and standout from other FPS games

- inability to mod

- no Antialiasing/Anisotropic Filters

- extra cost to play online (xbox live account+internet service provider)

That´s what i call "dumbed down".

A console game will never be as good as a high end PC game counterpart.

The fact that consoles are so popular is, that people tend to take the "easy way", it´s

the same phenomenon as with "World of Warcraft", it´s an easy game, that runs on

every PC.

I´m really shocked, that the community leader compares the original, older OFP with the console

game OFP Elite. The much older OFP has still more features and i would prefer playing the original

OFP over the what i called "dumbed down" OFP Elite any day.

A console will never have the upper hand over a new pc, the development of the hardware industry is way too fast for consoles to keep up.
