NoRailgunner 0 Posted February 6, 2009 alpha125rbf people from "target groups" buy Arma2 complain/whine about that its too ugly/hard etc. and after a while they got used to it or they forget/sell it. Nobody is forcing people to buy and play different games.
Electricleash 133 Posted February 7, 2009 One thing I think you have to remember about the units equipment and camoflage in game, is that it has to gel correctly with the surrounding environment, not to mention the huge number of different lighting conditions + fog settings. Something I have occasionally noticed, particularly with the uniform mods for ArmA is how the creators have succeeded in getting exactly the correct colours as they are in real life, but when imported into the game they stick out like a sore thumb amongst the trees and bushes! I would rather the camoflage works in game, in the context of the senario and with all conditions than have super duper acuracy, just my feelings. With regards to target audience, I suppose I would fit into the target group of those wanting an authentic, note: NOT realistic, engaging experience. I want my belief suspended in a cinematic way, for an hour or so. Having not been in the military, I try not to get hung up on the 'little visual details', but I can see why it might bother those who have been or are military enthusiasts. Perun 0 Posted February 7, 2009 I always wonder why do they insert Americans into their games. If they added Czech army into it, you all should shut up, because, 95% of you didn't ever see camo of our soldiers. I understand, that man who served few months in marine exactly knows what they are wearing and bla bla bla bla bla, but what does it matter. If you don't like it ... mod it. That is the best feature of this game. They really need to focus at such things like fixing last bugs end errors etc. You don't see how the game is excelent, you only see the bad on it. I blame you from ignorance ...
sparks50 0 Posted February 7, 2009 One thing I would wish is to lessen the difficulty of getting and starting mods. It may sound minor to us, but I know many who are intimidated with making correct folders folders and editing shortcuts. If they could automate this process in a integrated program such as Yomas and make it simple to use, I think it would increase many peoples enjoyment of the game. MehMan 0 Posted February 7, 2009 On topic: regarding listening and giving fans what they want, why did the campaign seem to go in the other direction? I think many fans, or at least forum viewers liked OFP because it was a simple soldier's war, without the huge bravado and because you were just this one guy stuck there by chance. It was a role I think many identified with as most of us probably can't really be SF. Also, the few special forces mission in OFP were more sneaky than shooty. There wasn't much hooah we're this and that in OFP, ArmA already went in the general hooah direction with some parts of the campagin, after which I stopped playing. ArmAII seems to be going even in the more cheesy direction with the marines hooah yelling and lets go marines thing. Also with being a sort of SF branch. It doesn't seem OFPish. I think many would like more OFP-like characters, that seem more believeable. you know, the bottom of the chain of command, where I think most of us would actually land. sparks50 0 Posted February 8, 2009 Well the tone looks a bit off to me. May just be the lighting.
Maddmatt 1 Posted February 8, 2009 Well the tone looks a bit off to me. May just be the lighting. Either the lighting or they went face first into some dirt. They don't look blue in the in-game screens though. That pic is probably a render.
Electricleash 133 Posted February 8, 2009 It's probably also because it's on a white background, creates an exagerated contrast.
