Nicholas Bell 0 Posted November 13, 2008 Fixed that. Â Yes, I wasn't paying attention on the image size. Â No excuses, sir.

mrcash2009 0 Posted November 24, 2008 I love the smell of a beta in the mornings  No photoshop fancy filtering, just brightness (not contrast) adjustment.
dren 0 Posted November 24, 2008 *Tryes to sniff harder* hmm... cant yet smell the beta?
mrcash2009 0 Posted November 24, 2008 Or maybe a smell of alpha? Obviously use of vehicles, air drops, heli insertions is a must on this beast! Air attack heaven, a snipers dream, and mechanized patrols wet dream, ambush mania, convoy attacks sandbox Loving it mate, keep it up! Â Will still test more with some new RACS me thinks
1in1class 0 Posted November 24, 2008 Wow nicely done cant wait for its release
mrcash2009 0 Posted November 26, 2008 Some more grabs from this glorious alpha map ... IMAGE 1 | IMAGE 2 | IMAGE 3 | IMAGE 4 | IMAGE 5 | IMAGE 6 I will hold back from doing more (its hard, everywhere you look there's a snapshot to be found ). Again Nicholas im still playing around and will feedback to you.
landdon 0 Posted November 27, 2008 @Cash, Would this map be a good one for land navigation course? Reason I'm asking is cities and towns tend to make it easy to navigate. If I remember correctly this doesn't have any yet, but does have a road. Am I correct?
mrcash2009 0 Posted November 27, 2008 Thats right, rolling hills and some roads on higher hills, with alot of dry open areas to navigate within the hills. What you see in the distance shots I took are dry river beds, not roads but there are 2 key areas on the map with winding raod surfaces through some hill areas in a 3 tier layout, think of france with its winding roads in hills used for rallying (just in terms of layout). What you see in most of those screens ive made are a good overview of all areas and foilage through the map and distance shots, so its much like that over a wide scale. This is perfect for that kind of thing (map reading not rallying!, you can get lost in this map for sure, so far no objects are added of the version I have here It has alot to be done I can see that but areas will have some field areas I can see and vegitation does change along with height, so there are some areas that can be identified  but nothing too simple thats for sure. All I can realy say is that this is nearly as close to "dogs bollocks" in terms of realism terrain that you could throw at the Arma engine, when its complete and Ive said this previously its a sandbox of its own. Im slowly working on an objective mission with dynamic settlements, not sure how it will go as im still new in scripting, but lets just say a few patrols and using vehicle mounted squads to search them out combined with Mando Bombs/Recon plane etc its satisfaction x100  especialy calling in bomb runs. I havent realy stopped using it to play around on, and it draws you in completely, "very" immersive indeed. I dont blow smoke up arses this will speak for itself when complete, keep it up Nicholas I can see its not an easy task but man alive its going to be worth the wait. Im gathering more pics and video footage in-game for a video but that will take a bit of time, some action, some scenery etc wont be an armavidz sepctacular but professional enough to show it well enough. PS I have to stress Nicholas was kind enough to share an alpha of this map, im in no way affiliated with the making of it, just feedback/testing and (if nick doesnt shoot me) getting some footage of it too. landdon 0 Posted November 27, 2008 Great, that is just what I'm looking for to make a Land Nav test for my Organization! Â Nevada is a great map but it is a little too feature less at the moment for this type of map. Â I'm going to cross my fingers and make a request from Mr. Bell. Â I wonder if he would consider naming it differently when he adds towns and such. Large open terrain make nice maps as well. I'm hoping he will understand!! Nicholas Bell 0 Posted November 28, 2008 Thanks for posting those great images, MrCash2009! Up to over 1.2 million objects and still no problems with lag.  I slipped up and instead of working on the map I played a simple "hold the mountain top" mission against the evil hordes.  Great fun and although I am hardly an unbiased source, the battlefield looked good too  Back to planting bushes across the lands... mrcash2009 0 Posted November 29, 2008 Thanks for posting those great images, MrCash2009!Up to over 1.2 million objects and still no problems with lag.  I slipped up and instead of working on the map I played a simple "hold the mountain top" mission against the evil hordes.  Great fun and although I am hardly an unbiased source, the battlefield looked good too  Back to planting bushes across the lands... It certainly calls out for testing a mission on it thats for sure  Nick, I opened the map today, imported a basic DAC mission, seems like this map isnt DAC's friend, it either had real issues with maypoint / camp creation and error's out no matter where i placed based/ attack zones. Thats just a heads up for DAC players, I guess the hill terrain blows its mind Also after importing the DAC mission suddenly I started getting that white out on mission start!? So ... I cleared the map, placed a unit, and then it didnt do it ... changed again, didnt do it, reloaded the same dac map, played ... didnt do it .. !? Completely in-consistent to try to find the cause, its never done it since and only that once for the first time today .... wierd.
manzilla 1 Posted November 29, 2008 That's a shame about the DAC thing. I use it almost entirely when making my missions. Yes the terrain would make a difference but did you try to mess around with the Waypoint config? Messing around with that may help. Also, did you import a sample mission or import one of your own? If you imported a mission from the DAC example missions that would most likely cause problems. It's not advised to use the main DAC folders from those mission. Using the default DAC folder and tweaking it should be done. I'd mess around with it this weekend unfortunately I'm not a tester. I've got loads of experience with DAC. mrcash2009 0 Posted November 29, 2008 Manzilla can you zip and post me (PM) a dac mission you know works fine in vanilla something simple to test at all?
Nicholas Bell 0 Posted November 29, 2008 I ran an SOS-CEX "capture" battle last night with artillery and Mando air strikes without out a problem. Â We took the hill first. Â The bad guys launched a portion of their forces against us and infiltrated around to "win". Â My flank squads failed to keep them from doing so. Great time - although I know I should be working to complete the damn thing not enjoying it. Â

Snake Man 407 Posted November 29, 2008 Up to over 1.2 million objects and still no problems with lag. When you have rebooted your computer, started ArmA, selected mission editor and this terrain, how many seconds it takes ArmA to load until mission editor comes up? Simply, what is the loading time?
mrcash2009 0 Posted November 29, 2008 For the alpha here it takes about 8-10 seconds or so.
