Flight Sims X/2004/lockon etc..

Recommended Posts

This is BI forums, can't believe there hasn't been a Helo Jockey yet... I personally still fly FS9, simply because the helo models are a lot less arcadey than FSX's ones. Even then they're still quite unrealistic, but things like dodosim help to fix that.

The most realistic sim I have found is X-plane 9 with the addon MD-500D.

I really love the sightseeing in FSX. The most I am flying above Japan, Switzerland and some other countries but this 2 I love the most.

Oh how I miss microprose

Wow, someone else who remembers Microprose! I was playing their sims from the infancy of pc gaming: F19/F117, M1A1 Tank Platoon, Gunship 2000, Harrier Jump Jet, F4, Gunship!.

You are aware that F4 has been remade into Falcon 4: Allied Force? That's pretty much the spiritual successor to the original F4.

I have about 2300 hours in my logbook on types ranging from the Beechcraft 1900C to the Antonov AN-225 flying for two VA's;

Simairline.net which regroups the operations of:

Air Canada, Air Tahiti Nui, Alaska, Alitalia, ANA, AOM, British Airways, Concorde operations (BA and Air France), Continental, Copa, Delta, Emirates, Frontier, Hawaiian, Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, Icelandair, KLM, Korean Air, Midway, Northwest, Pan American, Sabena, South African, Swissair, Thai, Varig and all the Virgin airlines (Virgin Express, Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Blue, Virgin Pacific, Polynesian Blue, Virgin Nigeria, Virgin Sun, Virgin America)

UPSVAC (Unnamed Parcel Service Virtual Air Cargo)

A dodgy lawyer threatened to take us to court if we didn't "cease and desist" from using the UPS brand name, as we were apparently misleading potential UPS customers. Ridiculous if you ask me, as when Googling 'UPS', our website appeared on page 33.

The lack of variety and quality of freeware and payware addons available for FSX means I only use FS9. I have 952 scenery entries in my FS9 scenery.cfg just to give you an idea of the amount of addons I have lol.

I love FS9 inlove.gif

Ideed. FSX is too young and it doesn't have so many addons etc. as FS9 but I think that it is just the matter of time. wink_o.gif

When I build my new system in a couple of weeks I might give FSX another go, afterall I should be able to run it comfortably at max gfx settings and that's always nice smile_o.gif

Oh and another thing, my AI traffic package isn't tested with FSX. I can't stand flying without realistic traffic.

I've took some photos while I was testing Abacus's Airbus A380 pack.

Well I can say that I expected a much better quality from payware addon. The model and textures aren't bad but they are not as great as the machines made by CLS.

I think that for now the best payware A380 is made by AFS-DESIGN and it is my next target after my next payday.

The versions Abacus's A380 from my photos are A380-800 Singapore Airlines and A380-700 KLM

I disagree. For me the best A380 is the one which comes in the Overland World Airliners package. While it may not be the most realistic addon (simplistic cockpit), it's definitely the best looking one around.

But is it made for FSX or FS9? Or maby FSX/FS9?

I'm asking because Abacus's A380 is made for FS9/FSX so the quality is as I mentioned medium. The AFS-DESIGN A380 is made with tools for FSX SP2 so the quality is better.

So even if A380 you mentioned is the best for FS9, in FSX there can be problems with graphics because after installation the SP2 the differences between tools for FS9 and tools for FSX are much more seen.

Well I use it in FS9. It is compatible with FSX though.

Either way, the Overland packages are the addons I use the most as they cover practically every commonly used Airbus and Boeing in excellent quality.

I'm already interested in Japanese Airlines so I think that I'll buy it after my payday.

Yeah the CLS classic 747 package is pretty good. Beautiful quality, but the flying's very simplified (no INS and limited system simulation)

The best buy I'd recommend would be Overland's Fly Into The Sky package.

Check out the list of included aircraft!

Nice shots, but they're a bit too saturated. I take it that's FSX?

they charge for addons? what incredibly lame precedent they are setting for the modding community.

consumerist mindset should never have entered into the bright realm of enthusiastic modders that work for FREE.

also fsx has absolutely horrible optimization
