Fastroping is a "MUST"

Recommended Posts

Since BIS appears to be concentrating more on urban gameplay, (with the improved AI and stuff), this would help avoid landing on top of buildings when parachuting. banghead.gif

should there? I don't know, that's kind of a crappy poll. Saying yes there should seems like you're saying it's essential. More distortedly, saying no there shouldn't seems like one would object to it being in there.

What a useless set of choices.

Fast roping is such a specialised thing..surely there must be other more common place military disciplines worth simulating?

With the different mod versions we'd have over the years, we all know how they'd implement it anyhow. wink_o.gif

Fast Roping is not something that is done by the army. We stopped doing that once we saw how our Blackhawks made easy targets for RPG's when they were stationary.. Fast roping was done only when no suitable terrain was found nearby to land. Its now never done in a red zone. (only in cheesy movies and video games) Its a good idea for an arcade game but not a simulation like arma series. Most people likely just want fast roping to avoid those tricky landings and your stuck with a noob pilot.

maybe a more realistic parachute. controlableish and un-deployable at certain altitudes, like when your too low. I know you die if your not high enough in the air, but it would be neat if the parachute wouldn't fully deploy if you were too low.

I don't know what Army you're in but the U.S. Army still does fast roping and rappelling from helicopters all the time. I was a blackhawk crewchief for 7 years and we did tons of roping. Especially while stationed at Fort Campbell with the 101st.

Im quite possibly one of the biggest advocates for ArmA2 needing allot of improvements and additions over ArmA/OFP to make it what it was originally promised.... but I voted no in this case. This is something that can be easily modded in and does not NEED to be hard coded into the game engine. I would rather see the devs spend time adding and fixing things that modders can't deal with such as the physics engine.

Not to say I wouldn't mind fast ropeing being included as a default feature of the game, its just not a total "must".

What? I can't belive people are saying No. OF COURSE include fast roping.

1. Some other games have it in one way or another.

2. Its VERY realistic. Fast roping is used a lot in urban operation situations.

3. Its very fun! Its is! and you know it!

Voted NO. I would of voted YES if only it would look dynamic. We all know the static variations (of rope i mean) and honestly it looks S¨^t imho. Afaik and read, it is very hard to implant this dynamic rope feature (SP it works as VBS1 had proven, but MP it is extremly hard to make it work...i read). So instead of waisting quality time on this, i think it should be use for other stuff.

In the end, if you can life with the static fastrope solutions, there are already many scripts availible, so you can have your fastrope feature.

Fastrope can be handy in urban envirement but personally i don't find it a must. It would be a nice bonus if BIS pulls it off...

You dig up a 7 month old thread for this?

Even though Armaholic banned you (for whatever reason) there is no need to spam our forums now.

§10) Do not dig up old threads

Threads older than 4 months should not be dug up unless something significant is being added. If in doubt as to what is "significant" PM a moderator and they will give you their opinion. As always old threads will remain open or be closed at the moderator's discretion.
