Is anyone using the G15 gaming keyboard for ArmA?

I'm getting one next week... What do you use in your macro's and are there any nice LCD apps for ArmA?

Not using any Macros with Arnma, but if your a TS user, thers a nice TS script which displays the channel info & whos talking on the LCD.

I have one,i can reach my 'G' keys with my left little finger which i have keys mapped for map/compass/prone etc

G15 user, but honestly i don't use much of the extra the keyboard features. Imho it is a lot of eyecandy, although the LCD can post some nice additional info like FRAPS fps counter and like mentioned TS client info. Tools like the CPU/RAM/TEMPS etc footage can be handy when testing settings (if you're on single montior). BUT take in mind every additional tool will require a part of your RAM if you 'lack' of it.

Personally went for an additional pad (FANG of zboards) as if feels more ergonomicly then a keyboard, but downside is with ArmA's extra keybinding possibilities you run out of keys fast. I'm thinking of running the G15 software in order to be able to use the G-keys (won't work without the software running).

Personal opinion is it is a nice keyboard. Has the extra keys if needed and more or less in the good location (left hand area).

As for macros (afaik: multiple key combo) i don't really see any use of it for ArmA or maybe a few if you want to make it yourself easy.

LCD screen is nice extra and in some cases can be handy (like for people who running single monitor), but afaik there aren't any mods/tools that work with ArmA. BIS was interested, but i think they decided the amount of G15 users is relatively low and the dev work for support just wasn't worth it, witch if so i can understand.

I just looked at the new version...

I'm so happy I managed to order before it was released.

It will replace the original one, so anyone that want a G15 should order it now.

The new one looks so much worse. They removed 12 G-buttons, changed colors, made the display smaller and well... everything seems worse about it.

It's a weird idea, releasing a new dumb-downed version, giving it the same name and then pulling the good old one off the market

Nice keyboard, nice features. I am a "seak and destroy" (index finger typer) and the programable keys has help me alot. Normally I loose where I am on the keyboard.

The illuminated keys help out alot.

But and a Big but... They etching wears off the keys very easy.

On my keyboard the "Q,W,E,A,S,D,Z,X,C" are totally gone!!

Aye you didn't hear? Call Logitech, they'll send you a new one, for free, and you can keep the old one.

Just be nice when talking on the phone with them. Explain you bought and the paint came off, now you can't see the letters.

You don't even have to talk to them on the phone. I went to their site and reported it and they required the # on the back of the keyboard, and a receipt (I always keep my online receipts) so they sent me a new one (which im using now) and I kept my old one (which my mom has lol) Keys aren't rubbing off so I'm happy.

I wonder if people who do have the G15 spend more time at looking at their keyboard and if it isn't distracting from looking at the screen... I mean, I use the MERC keyboard, which is more of a keyboard than it's Zboard predecessor, and I use keyboards for my fingers to type and press keys, whilst always staring at the monitor, not at the keyboard... After all, you might get shot whilst looking away from your monitor... was just curious, that's all...

No simple LCD programs yet?

Like: Fuel/Kills/Top Scores/Time In Game/Time Remaining/Grenades Left/M203 Grenades Left/Pistol Ammo/Rocket Ammo

It'd be a dream come true if you could combine that program with that of teamspeak, so you could see who's talking and have all of your ArmA info displayed infront of you. Perhaps a clock too in your local time. All displayed one one screen without switching between the TS applet, and the clock applet.

The keyboard isn't a distraction at all. You can turn down the LCD screen's brightness, and even when its at its brightest setting, its not distracting.

It's a great keyboard.

The LCD is too bright, it bothers when trying to look at the game so I keep it close except when I need to see the time.

Btw ,i dont really use the LCD in game,cept sometimes for the cpu/ram monitor!

The teamspeak/xfire applet not really of use to me as i have them running on 2nd monitor

Surely some clever chap who could make a lil program for arma to include these details? Its still a great buy too with the lit keys and the extra 2 usb connectors in the back which i find very handy! Worth getting to anyone wanting to update their keyboard

I love my G15. I use Everest to display all my critical hardware monitoring info (lost the second screen when going SLi).

I currently only use one macro key for the FLUSH command =/

Yeah it's easy if you know how, unfortunately, it doesn't seem that there is anyone that knows how and is interested in ArmA

There isn't a way to export the information easily out of ArmA except maybe with DSTS. However it isn't easy...
