Well this new news will make my wife happy. Swat has been hosting servers since flashpoint. Shame that is all coming to a end. Steam = no arma 3 for me.
-
AMEN TO THAT  Steamworks = Steam Client install "SCREW THAT". Something I don't understand is why this keeps coming up it has "LOST" in the surveys hands down numerous times.

A repeat “Publishers are creating a monster ***– we are telling suppliers to stop using Steam in their games.†The head of sales at a big-name digital service provider agreed: “At the moment the big digital distributors need to stock games with Steam. But the power resides with bricks and mortar retailers, they can refuse to stock these titles. I voted NO. I do not like the Idea of STEAM and the way they have control over ones moves. “Publishers are creating a monster ***– we are telling suppliers to stop using Steam in their games.†The head of sales at a big-name digital service provider agreed: “At the moment the big digital distributors need to stock games with Steam. A2 OA 1.54 BAF client unable to connect to A2 OA 1.54 BAF Lite DS
SWAT_CDN replied to Victim ZSU's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Defunkt I think what Victim ZSU is "equalModRequired=1 or verifySignatures=1" as you said. When a dedicated server runs with "equalModRequired" or "verifySignatures" turned off there is no issues. This is something we do not want to turn off in our server, hopefully we can get some sort of answer. I guess this would be the major question to the server admin's. Admin, are you running with these off? -
A2 OA 1.54 BAF client unable to connect to A2 OA 1.54 BAF Lite DS
SWAT_CDN replied to Victim ZSU's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I purchased full BAF this afternoon and attempted to join our server after installation: I can confirm: Wtih our server running BAF Lite, I (Client) with BAF (full) installed cannot join our server. My work around was to changeFolder Name to @BAF. 1) Starting Game from "ARMA2 Combined Operations" desktop Icon allowed me to join BAF (lite) servers including ours. Note: in single player no BAF missions are available. 2) Desktop Start Icon " ARMA2 British Armed Forces" I changed TARGET to read -mod=@BAF from -mod=@BAF Starting game from this Icon gives the "Incompatable Version Message" and cannot join (lite) server. Note: Starting from this ICON all the Full BAF single player missions are available. I have not tried joining other servers but did notice: Starting from "ARMA2 British Armed Forces" Icon there is a "?" in all the Multiplayer servers showing expanison as BAF (lite) and Green for full BAF. (note: I did get an error "Picture baf\mod.paa not found". Clicked ok and it appears to run fine. However Starting from "ARMA2 Combined Operations" Icon the status is "Green" in MOST of the Multiplayer servers showing expanison as BAF (lite). There are stiil servers showing "?" but the majority show Green. On a side note; while clicking through the servers one server with the BAF full description in the expansion listing did show GREEN? (maybe they have eq mod turned off in server settings?) It appears to me that Update 1.54 with the BAF (lite) and the BAF full version are preforming like two totally differnt games and must be started as such. I am not so sure that was the intent but it appears to be the result. I also question the inability to "DISABLE" BAF in the expansion listings in the game menu? -
Just saw your post. Don't know if you got it yet but on the WallMart receipt it is: PC ARMA2 ARW 087794910002 I understand 6 OA and 6 Combined Op's at each store!
-
Thanks for the heads up: Wall Mart in Vaughan has/had 6 copies of each on the shelves. Hidden but on the shelf.

I have been in email contact with Merdian regarding purchasing Hard Copies of Game and the following response are the responses. My email was basically questioning the issues in getting the game in Canada and the frustation of the Canadain followers and supporters of the Game. "Hi John, Thanks for the update. We are doing our best to get the game into the hands of players here in Canada. Wal*Mart should have it on shelves this week, we are quite upset about the delay. Best Buy Canada’s order is expected any day so likely units will ship this week to their warehouse. Future Shop is now considering carrying the franchise so we hope we can see this through in the next week or so. The digital version is now available on our site and we plan to offer the boxed version soon as well. As the publisher for North America we do not do the actual distribution, but I have the distinct honor of yelling at the people who do. I have been doing a lot of yelling for Canada lately, and it seems to have hit the target. We expect better coverage over the coming days/weeks. Thank you once again for all of your input. Regards, Andy Sher CEO Meridian4 www.meridian4.com" I asked permission to post here and the response "Sure thing. If it helps feel free to pass this information on. One thing you can add, if gamers email Best Buy Canada and EB Games it is my understanding the information is passed on to the video game buyer for the chain. The more comments they get regarding product the more likely they will react to it by making sure they have product. Regards, Andy M4" I guess we wait and see. I will be sending off emails as Andy has suggested, it can't hurt.
-
I originally contacted Meridian 4 about who was going to carry the product in stores. The response at the time was "Wallmart, Canada" After visiting several Wallmart's in the Toronto area I contacted them again asking "why and who" and got the following response: "Hi John, I don’t mind you mentioning that we are the Canadian publisher. We hope to have the digital version up and running on our site this week, and we will need to find a way to get better retail distribution coverage. Regards, Andy" Sounds to me there may be a distribution issue in Canada! For me I have had way too many issues with "DIGITAL" versions of software and will NEVER do it again. (I own somewhere non-played 2 digital copies of Arma and still ended up purchasing a hard copy) To Bohemia Interactive, you have one hell of a following> It seems again that the North American market is having major issues getting your "GREAT GAME" in Hard Copy versions anyhow.
-
There was no time line set. As my question was directly related to Canadian purchases with the main question "Will EB (Gamestop),Canada be carrying the Game?" The reply I got from Meridian 4 was that Wallmart, Canada had placed orders for the game and That it seems "EB (Gamestop),Canada" had no interest in it as they were leaning to Console games!
-
For all the CANADIAN supporters. I have been in contact with Meridian 4, their response has been quick and I must say very friendly, I have confirmation from Meridian 4 that the best place for us to purchase will be: WALLMART Canada and through Amazon for a Non digital copy. Question: Does anybody know if Wallmart does pre-orders?
-
It seems that Gamestop in Canada, called numerous stores know nothing of Arma 2: OA. The issue is due to recent DUAL Language regulations. If the manual is not available in FRENCH it cannot be sold in Canada. Emails sent to Meridian 4 have gone unanswered as of yet, lets see what the people from Quebec say about a FRENCH version of the manual.

ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead discussion thread
SWAT_CDN replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Agree about the Packaging not mattering so much. I think most people who play this game play it becuase they like it. It has gone through growing pains and well supported by the developers. Maybe I am wrong but I sell this game on it's merits (Good and Bad). The family will grow while the others will fade away. I am sure a lot of the people who play this series (OFP, Arma, Arma2) listen to other people about the crap being put out and save their money! What will give Bohemia Interactive the advantage is their attitude towards improving the series, thusly selling their product with "LOUD VOICES" of the people play it and who sell it for what it is a "Great Game" that is different and has issues but not issues gone unattended as other developers have done. This will attract new blood, the New blood that will appreciate the series for what it is and it's style of game play. It is a known fact that HIGH PRICED marketing can also financially kill a product. There is no better advertising than "WORD OF MOUTH", It's cheap and typically does not lie>:j: -
ArmA2: The All New OFFICIAL "where to buy?" Thread.
SWAT_CDN replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I had put a deposit down with EB Games in Canada and was told it would be out July 7, 2009. After all the reading here I call the Store and they said the new date is DECEMBER 31, 2009. I know it's a publisher, distributor thing here but WTF. I REFUSE TO GO THROUGH THE HELL I WENT THROUGH WITH ARMA AND DOWNLOAD COPIES I PAID TWICE FOR THAT EXPERINCE JUST TO END UP PURCHASING THE DVD HARD COPY. There must be some sort of answer for this from "Placebo, somebody? Is it that "STEAM" / "SPROCKET" was given some lead time to pick up some sales? Shure appears to be a political thing to me> What a shame!:(
