British Royal Marines

Recommended Posts

Coming soon British Royal Marines in DPM uniforms.

Sorry it will be just reskins, BIS models don't wear Osprey vests and don't wear their berets the British way and they'll come equiped with US weapons.

Is anybody willing to do a stand alone addon of the British weapons ?

- SA80A2 assault rifle

- SA80A2 + HK AG-36 grenade launcher

- LSW (now used by marksmen)

- L96 sniper rifle

Would be very helpful smile_o.gif

The camo-pattern looks really nice smile_o.gif but if possible, it would look better if it was abit less colorful and more dusty and battle-worn.

Thanks your feedback mates smile_o.gif

Col. Faulkner

Yes, a rather shocking beret indeed , don't tell the Queen. biggrin_o.gif

To McNools

Noted, will do a little desaturation work.

To Vilas

Need a selfstanding weapons addon in order to include it in the zip or rar file together with the troops addon. Vilas if you're interested and have time to spare your help would be more than welcome, you already did a great job with the Steyr AUG smile_o.gif. Fyg this reskin is based on the 1994 pattern.

I doubt very much that anyone is still wearing '94 these days.

Depending on how long you're prepared to wait I'll eventually

be doing British infantry in CEFO circa 1985 as the first part

of the SPEARHEAD thing. They'll be meticulously authentic

because I've known about it all since, well...1985!

Should have a rather nice SA80 on its way very shorty, just need the SUSAT mapped and we're away, unfortunatly it'll be part of a larger addon though, tis basically the RAAB Open pack Sasy did a while back, just been upgraded somewhat.

Looking good though mate

Hmm... not a big British fan but ill download them when there done because i do like the British Marines smile_o.gif. Cant wait and good luck! Hey, it would be kinda cool for the woodland dpm soldiers to have the desert dpm vest, just wondering if you wanna make them like that because your desert dpm soldiers have the woodland vest. tounge2.gif

Good luck

There is quite a bit of pattern 94 about still. It's all down to the wearer. Once knew an officer who had kept and still wore a set of trousers issued in the 1980s crazy_o.gif .

OK, I'm not an "expert" on present-day kit. Maybe these

"mirror-image marines" are meant to be pre CS 95 anyway

(or maybe the camouflage website consulted doesn't include

a swatch of '95  wink_o.gif  ).

Old kit in use is not unusual. In the 1980s, there were at

least 3 different types of DPM combats all in use together in

the same units - not including some of the private purchase

things like the DPM "SAS" smocks and DPM Barbour jackets,

and those (non-para) nobbers who wore DPM para smocks to

look warry.

Exactly. There are tons of pre CS 95 DPM samples on the internet to be used as an inspiration. But as far as I can see the DPM-95 doesn't look very different except maybe the general tone seems more brown than yellowish. Btw all comments/advises/critics are welcome smile_o.gif

Good suggestions will think about it.

All the help I can get is welcome smile_o.gif

I already have some good photos of the Osprey vest (in Desert DPM pattern) but all reference materials are very welcome, so feel free to post them on this thread in order they benefit to the community. Btw I wonder if any "classic" (i.e. non desert) DPM Osprey vest has been issued to troops so far ?

I can use the normal map to do some changes (ShadowNX did a fantastic job on the Russian flack jackets of his Russian troops mod), but the front and back pocket/pouches of the vest will just stay flat, not to mention I’m not as gifted as Shadow is with normal mapping.

But will check what I can do because yes it’s strange to have British troops with US flack vests.

Release date: Well, it will depend on your feedbacks mates and of the availability of UK weapons (or maybe I can release a beta version with US weapons).

Thanks very much for your help/pictures. smile_o.gif

First thing I’ll do is trying to modelise the old flak vest, which seems easier to create with normal mapping, would make these commandos a little “outdated†but would be consistent with the DPM-94 anyway. Once I get more proficient with normal mapping will try my hand on the Osprey vest.
