Eject - Parachute?

Recommended Posts

I think only planes and some cargo choppers should offer parachute ejection. Parachuting out of standard choppers is just crap. Imagine the case when your tailrotor fails. You Q up to 100 m and eject, instead of trying to land properly.

OP

What's your point? Do you want it removed from the game by BIS? Or do you want someone to create a mod that changes these things?

In OFP, the WGL mod restricted the use of parachutes to certain aircraft. In all probability their new mod for ArmA - ACE - will do the same.

Edit: By the way, you -can- eject from a Kamov in real life, apparently. =D

Although I agree that it's not realistic, I think it's a sensitive subject because it would change gameplay rather dramatically if you couldn't bail out. Besides it's not really realistic to parashute out of all helicopters in general, at all. Not even as passenger.

But then, what is realistic about the game anyway. Is it realistic that you can jump in to and take off an Su34 with full combat gear, an M4 and a strela launcher in your backpack and no oxygen mask? Nevermind that you automatically recieve a parashute.

If we think rationally there's a lot of reasons why parashuting from BH or whatever is just as realistic as most of the rest of the game. The list of unrealistic things in this game, though much less than other games, is endless afterall.

The only helicopter that I know of with an ejection seat is the Russian built KA-50. http://avia.russian.ee/maks/ka-50.jpg

Quote[/b] ]The Ka-50 is the world's first operational helicopter with a rescue ejection system, which allows the pilot to escape at all altitudes and speeds. The K-37-800 rocket-assisted ejection system is manufactured by the Zvezda Research and Production Enterprise Joint Stock Company in the Moscow region

I have parachuted out of Hueys, Blackhawks, and Chinooks. Both HALO and static line insertions from CH and MH 47's are common.

I dislike the helo pilot ejection option, but it will be modded out at some future point.

I just wish the chute didn't automatically deploy. If you happen to be 7000m up in the air and bail out, expect a 30 minute descent... wait... uncontrolled descent. It would be nice to choose when you want to deploy the chute and do the skydiving thing. And able to control it. Another bonus would be to have an altimeter next to your watch or something. smile_o.gif

Then you could form an ArmA freefall parachute display team smile_o.gif

I think that there should be a joint operations style approach on parachuting, in the loadout a parachute had to be selected, and it could only be used once, this would be really good and add yet another realistic dimension into the game play.

And the pilots in jets actually need to eject, as in, shoot up out of the plane, i notice that in the harrier this happens, but thats about it ( and possibly the A10), it doesnt happen in Su34s tho.

Someone should add this to the Addon Request thread,

a parachute realism mod

featuring steerable parachutes, limited ejection for pilots of helicopters (Except Ka-50), an option to open your shoot when you want, and possibly a little altimeter gui thingy nex t to your watch. This would be such a useful addon, and if you guys dont request it, I will...

And some blasted round parachutes! These airfoil types make me think of Sam Fischer or people on vacation in Hawaii!

Yeah when you eject the rotors are blown off.

The Ka-50 has a jet aircraft-like ejector seat. I think the Eurocopter also has this.

There's a big difference between being strapped into a rocket chair with a parachute and merrily hopping out the driver door of your UH-6o with a napsack full of silk.

Certain aspects have already been implemented. However, it's not yet finished or ready for a public release, it it ever is released. It may simply remain a exclusive feature on our server.

Oh that looks nice..! All it needs is the right "falling" animation which I guess can't be too hard to make.
