maddogx 13 Posted May 31, 2007 are there bullet holes in ArmA: Combat operatins? No, there are no bullet holes, but I think I've seen someone working on a mod for it.
thr0tt 12 Posted May 31, 2007 There are bullet holes but only in the dead...
Wolfrug 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Uhm. If you shoot the ground there'll be a bullet hole. But no, not through fences or walls and stuff. Although you can shoot through stuff! Regards, Wolfrug
jackass888 0 Posted May 31, 2007 mods are coming that will add bullet holes... as much as the engine allows.
bravo 6 0 Posted May 31, 2007 The existing bullet holes in the game are kinda fake.. They look like a paint balls spashing in the ground..
sickboy 13 Posted May 31, 2007 The existing bullet holes in the game are kinda fake..They look like a paint balls spashing in the ground.. I guess most of us have more pressing matters than to zoom in on bullet holes....

bravo 6 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Solus ArmA SLX Mod got Bullet holes. ( Not released yet ) yup i confirm it too. though it doesnt have on vehicles.. only on objects, like houses, fences, ground. they look preaty unfinished tough (its an X with waves on top), and i know that mode already has long time. So it might be improved ATM. OT: also the recoil is more realistic! BIS could check this mod out
bravo 6 0 Posted June 2, 2007 looks like there will be bullet holes on vehicles and objects in 1.08 after all * Bullet impact is now drawn also on objects and vehicles Source maybe we woun't need a mod for it in the end
maddogx 13 Posted June 2, 2007 looks like there will be bullet holes on vehicles and objects in 1.08 after all * Bullet impact is now drawn also on objects and vehicles Source maybe we woun't need a mod for it in the end I noticed that too. This could add a whole new level of ultimate leetness to ArmA if it looks good. I guess that solves this topic then.
TankCommander 3 Posted June 2, 2007 In the patch 1.08 info it states that bullet holes will now appear on objects other than the ground like buildings and vehicles Quote[/b] ]Posted: June 01 2007,17:38Just a quick update on the patch status: we decided to release the patch as version 1.08 and it's getting to last round of testing. We thank all who helped us to beta test the public beta versions. It helped us a lot. We also managed to get few nice new improvements to version 1.08: * voice over net is improved significantly * Increased contrast of light for all weather conditions * Bullet impact is now drawn also on objects and vehicles * 2D optics now support wide screen and triple monitor aspect ratio correctly * New texture detail "Default" that auto-detects the amount of VRAM (Recommended Texture Detail setting for users of cards with more than 512 VRAM) * Reworked logic of teamswitch to make it more suitable for detailed manual squad command control * Full support for multiple airports by AI pilots * A bit faster and more fluent radio protocol In total, since version 1.05 we made around 500 different bugfixes, improvements and tweaks made in the game. We will update you on the patch release with specific date of availability as soon as the patch testing is finished. -------------- Marek Spanel - CEO www.bistudio.com
Scrub 0 Posted June 2, 2007 [rumor] If they get fancy-shmancy and include Alpha channel, we might be able to have holes THRU some objects.... [/rumor]
max power 21 Posted June 2, 2007 [rumor]If they get fancy-shmancy and include Alpha channel, we might be able to have holes THRU some objects.... [/rumor] I think not.
Scrub 0 Posted June 2, 2007 Praytell why such a blunt no? Â I've seen alpha channel bugs that allowed me to see through walls from looking through a Cobras' windscreen.. Â Are you saying we can't make bugs work in our favor?
smellyjelly 0 Posted June 2, 2007 I thought the engine wouldn't allow bullet holes to appear on vehicles, much like it doesn't allow people or objects either. Hopefully they will be static in reference to the vehicle, and not flicker or lag behind. I can't wait to see them though.
TankCommander 3 Posted June 2, 2007 Do you mean having an alpha channel emulate a hole on say, armour? That for one wouldn't work as it would just look bad seeing what is inside the polygonal model. There would have to be some geometry to make up the hole otherwise. But on windows, glass etc there shouldn't be a problem and don't they do that already? But if you're talking about fences then...well why hasn't asnyone done that before would be frikken great They could even have some normal map/bump map on the hole to give the slight impression it's made an impact. Damn I wish that's possible coz that would add another level of gameplay around fenced areas, thin walls etc.
Scrub 0 Posted June 2, 2007 Fences, single surface objects, things that you can penetrate.. Â Yes, simple objects like that. Â
4 IN 1 0 Posted June 2, 2007 WTF!? for whatever new things that get added you guys just simply load them up a rocket and fire them high up into the sky like "oh great you guys add this, how about make that that that too, is seems to be the same and just another 10 mins job"?? you guys really have a strange logic
TankCommander 3 Posted June 2, 2007 Haha is it a crime to dream? I was just exploring some possibilities and you would have to be lying to yourself if you did not want actual bullet holes in some objects
4 IN 1 0 Posted June 2, 2007 dreaming and being demanding is 2 different thing
Scrub 0 Posted June 2, 2007 Only dreaming!!!! Never said 'I want/demand/blah blah blah' in anything' and never would. More to the point, I'm dreaming of mod teams doing any tweaking to the basic bullet holes. As Tank said, only dreaming and exploring the wonderful possibilities the new features in the engine... Daaang, a bit more sensitive and I'll be looking over my shoulder on my way to work..
TankCommander 3 Posted June 2, 2007 dreaming and being demanding is 2 different thing Ok then let me clarify that I wasn't demanding anything by just quoting myself and making key words bold. Quote[/b] ]They could even have some normal map/bump map on the hole to give the slight impression it's made an impact. Damn I wish that's possible coz that would add another level of gameplay around fenced areas, thin walls etc. Please read it properly because that discussion started as a 'rumor' and there were no demands going around, only speculation and theory
