Ranger Bob 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Cool pics, the M3 one has a bit of a shallow dof, but looks good! I finally bought the Canon 28-135 lens, its awesome! I'll post some pics later. Heres some pics I've taken recently: Yellow Flower (not sure what it is) Edinburgh Castle Cafe in Edinburgh Oh, Aimpoint your shots are amazing! You should be working for the press, most of the shots in the BBC news don't come close to being as good as yours!
killagee 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Awesome lightning shot Sudayev And good panning shots on the Race Aimpoint. OK, I have finally gotten around to editing the Images from the MAKS Airshow 2007 for the 100kb limit here... What a crazy airshow… (crazy country! Like nothing I have ever seen before. From the crush to get into the trains (saw one guy get his leg mashed) to the hyper security and mad “carnival†atmosphere, this is one crazy event! Well worth it though. It was a very difficult airshow to photograph: Shooting into the sun, a crowd barrier made out of grumpy soldiers and people trying to madly defend the space for their family picnic at the front of the crowdline and the runway and display line was a long way away… 70-200 f2.8 + 1.7x lens was just not enough. Anyway here is a preview of a few of my favourite shots… Many more to come! Hope you enjoy them I came a long way to get them! You can look through a whole lot more from the airshow here: Just go to Aviation - MAKS 2007 http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v128/chrisgee/ Cheers!

BlackScorpion 0 Posted September 20, 2007 Would've said Stalingrad/Volgograd, but seeing the flag... Kiev? Very nice shots, mate. Those tanks... some sort of improvised playground/peace symbol?
the_shadow 0 Posted September 20, 2007 alright... i guess you have all seen the Band of Brothers TV series right? i would like to make some of my photos look as if they where screenshots from the series... i have figured out i have to make them a bit more grainy (not a problem) and make them more brown (not sepia just brown), and i cant figure out how to do that in photoshop... i just cant get it right.. then i also have to add some contrast and i cant get a good result there either... i want it to looks something like this pic could anyone help me and explain how to do that? i use Photoshop CS3 btw.. Tovarish 0 Posted September 20, 2007 Would've said Stalingrad/Volgograd, but seeing the flag... Kiev?Very nice shots, mate. Those tanks... some sort of improvised playground/peace symbol? Most are in Kiev, a few are in Krivoi Rog, and a couple in Zaparozhia - but yeah, it was all Ukraine. The tanks...well, when Britan came out with the Yellow Submarine back in '66, the Soviets realized there was a psychedelic gap in the arms race. Their answer was tanks like this one. Seriously, I was told that a couple of years ago, during Victory Day celebrations, those two tanks were rolled in to Victory Plaza in Kiev and school children were given paint and told to go nuts. I saw quite a few tanks propped up as monuments outside of towns as I travelled, and very often there were kids crawling all over them. What surprized me was almost always these tanks were IS-3's! I may have seen one T-34 that entire trip. P.S. What the hell is with Image shack? It's been acting insanely slow since I got back. *edit* Finally! Here's one more for now - this is me after doing some wild pigeon hunting outside of Krivoi Rog - You almost expect to see FIA written on the side of the LUAZ don't you? BlackScorpion 0 Posted September 20, 2007 Mmmmmmm, paint... Shadow, maybe show me/us the picture in question? Well, there are some programs and tutorials for the effect (kind of like HDR), but judging by the pic and my memory... desaturation, possibly some hue editing and playing around with contrast. Not that much toning in the shot, as pretty much all their gear is brown. A bit though.

earl 0 Posted September 25, 2007 Nice pics guys, looks like a very interesting trip Tovarish! Shadow, Band of Brothers post does something like push all the midrange values up into high key, while also deepening some of the shadows, clipping sometimes into full black. Â The effect is intense contrast that mimics old footage a bit. Using Tovarish's nice monument photo:
earl 0 Posted September 25, 2007 Histograms explain a lot too. Note especially that I didn't burn out any highights, though the sky was already blown out. All those nice textures in the mid range are still intact, defined, just compressed in the higher end of the histogram.
Kirby 2 Posted September 26, 2007 Toverish is my first God. After a pic of him, a shotgun, a slightly grumpy looking kid, a dog, and an LUAZ. Hehe. And yes, I could almost imagen FIA on the side of it. PS. Tov you look familier... I know that face. Ever been on TV? Or been to Southwest England? lmao. You probably just posted a pic of you before... My memory is terrible. I'll post more photos when I can be bothered. I'll clutter up this forum with poor quality snaps
