icewindo 29 Posted March 31, 2007 Hi, first, i want to say that i really like AA, had played OFP just in SP and some DM Action before. I Like the new ingame joining and many of the maps which were created like AirCav ect. I Like to fly choppers, repair enemy stuff and get it to the frontlines. But hey, if everything would be  I probally wouldn't post here. I know the following doesn't apply to everyone, but it may be worth a try... Imagine this: Player 123 finds a downed Mi17 on a AirCav-like mission. Player 123 is very happy. He recalls he has seen some repair trucks in the base. So, he repairs the MI17. Then Player 123 opens chat and types "Yeah guys, FRIENDLY, I REPEAT, FRIENDLY MI-17 in the air". Player 123 then flies to the base to pick up Dude1, Dude2 and Dude3. Remember that cadet mode is on. Player123 climbs down to ~40m and lowers speed. Exactly over the helopad. Now Dude3 picks up his LAW and shoots Player123's MI17. Player 123 thinks: "WTF?". Player 123 types, enraged by that behaviour: "WTF DID YOU DO? CHECK THE MAP YOU [iNSERT FITTING WORDS] OR YOUR TARGET IDENTIFICATION" As a result, Player123 is kicked.  I saw these things happen to more than one time. More than two times. More than three times. Countless times. In a UAZ, in a Ural, .... So, please: If cadet mode is enabled, check your target. If a target is RED BUT has a name, it is friendly. If not, shoot it. Check the Map for contacts, they're stored and updated. And, if you aren't playing in cadet mode, ASK if that helo/car/whatever is FRIENDLY or ENEMY. It isn't that hard, is it? And one request to the developers: Please, please change the color of the American pilots. Give them orange or red suits and helmets, so people won't shoot them anymore even when seeing them from a distance of 10m  .
S.O.S 0 Posted March 31, 2007 Sometimes the target recognition just not working as it should. I guess thats the reason why it happens so often. I think those who dont know what the green or red text means wouldnt even know what the differnce between an east or west chopper is.
Infam0us 10 Posted March 31, 2007 It seems to work on the principle of, "Oh its a East Helicopter it MUST have Bad guys in ..." Despite your numerous warnings I'm afraid you'll get some idiots who will just either not listen, or not read the text in the bottom ... either way trying to do a reasonbly technical coop is impossible ... As I have tried to coordinate efforts on our server but they don't listen. Best bet is to find yourself a good clan and stick with it, its much more fun and less stress in the long term Oh and a suggestion for that clan ... where else but, www.22regiment.co.uk
MATRA 0 Posted March 31, 2007 Dude 1,2,3 are rookies, if not they´ll know that AI flying to atack our base is to good to be true.
Maddmatt 1 Posted April 1, 2007 There are morons on public servers. If you join a clan (or just play with friends) you will have much more fun with ArmA.
icebreakr 3159 Posted April 1, 2007 Here's a screenshot that describes exactly the same you were talking about Its from the January 25th, 2nd part of Operation Swift Cats.
Heatseeker 0 Posted April 2, 2007 If the point about stealing enemy aircraft when you have a perfectly good UH-60 parked in the runway is to confuse the enemy then the door becomes more likely to swing both ways. Playing in veteran mode (the only way to play) and knowing there are possible opfor mi17's flying around will just increase the chances of FF alot. In this case i understand your frustration... Benoist 0 Posted April 2, 2007 DAMN! That happens to me EVERY F*CKING TIME I'm sick of that, i remember once: I was going to help some M1A1 in a KA-50 when i saw a AA misile in front of me (and other, but this one hit me ¬¬), i tipe "Don't shot you idiots! Allied KA-50!" for what? Other AA misile hit me, so i was running out of fuel and i knew that they will kick me sooner or later soy i smash the KA into the 2 recon patrols. I kill all the men with Laser Designator and the M1A1 got what deserved. My plan work like a rolex
max power 21 Posted April 2, 2007 I don't know why player123 gets kicked.. it's a simple matter of looking at the player name icon when it comes up. If you're not playing on a server that allows those... well... I guess there are risks involved driving around opfor vehicles... especially when your team consists of bored teenagers and shaves, drooling apes (as it nearly always does). The heart of the problem is that the vehicle will always be shown as enemy to whatever side is naturally its enemy. The only difference in tags is that if there is a friendly pilot you will see his name in there (still in red). Even if you kill 100 opfor with an opfor vehicle, you will remain red for the bluefor... the only difference there is that you will be red for the opfor aswell. Firstly, I think that ideally people would approach that kind of blue on blue situation with opfor vehicles with a modicum of temperence. Picking up opfor vehicles is risky because everyone is an idiot. This should be factored into your plan. If you're playing on a public server you will be tk'd sooner or later. Someone's not going to be reading, not going to understand your language, or simply going to spawn in with a huge, hulking enemy vehicle hovering around. All he sees is 5 points sitting there, or whatever. It is my (perhaps wishful) thinking that malicious tks in those situations are somewhat rarer. I wouldn't get all upset about being tked under those circumstances. If you really must say something to express your feelings on the subject, try something snarky but not inflamatory like: *[blUEFOR]Player123: Dude3, welcome to negative pointsville, population: you. Don't get into an argument about it. It's not worth it.
