umbr44 0 Posted March 30, 2007 ive got that pack but when i double clik a pbo file I cannot extract it in anyway although i can make files into pbo files. what am I missing?
Synide 0 Posted March 30, 2007 right-click on the pbo file... and select 'extract' from the context-menu. PS. have you got the latest version... he just updated unRap.exe yesterday. cpbo.exe is unchanged but you will definetly need the newer unRap.exe 1.06. Jackal326 1181 Posted March 30, 2007 You have to have run the cpbo.exe at least once, and selected YES to associate the .PBO extension with the tool.
umbr44 0 Posted March 31, 2007 yeh Ive done that twice now, and it is now possible for me to make a pbo file but double clicking or right clicking does not allow me to unpack one

Do you probably know how to code a pbo? maybe to put into the pbo a text file too, that makes the pbo unextractable, but playable. do you know what i mean? Save it and run it by double-left-clicking it in Windows Explorer. I did this and it didnt work. Probably because there were spaces and äöå in the path. So I moved the program to E:\Program\cpbo.exe, changed the paths in the reg files and ran them again. Still didnt work. So I went into regedit and deleted the .pbo folder there, ran the reg files and tried again. Now I could get the extract text up when I rightclicked a .pbo-file. Problem was I got an error message when I clicked it. I then tried running the cpbo.exe and pressing yes again. Now it works. So if you cant get it to work after you tried what Synide said. Make sure you have a simple path, delete the .pbo folder in regedit, run the reg files with the new simpler path and then run cpbo.exe and press yes again. Thanks for the help
Santosa 0 Posted April 25, 2007 I prefer WinPBO, because it let's you view the contenst of the pbo directly, and you can select the files to decompile by hand, for example, if you're only interested in the model. and it has a friendly xp interface which let's you do all the basic stuff that the other tools do too. Synide 0 Posted April 26, 2007 @Sentry... you can 'munt' a pbo to make it so pbo extraction tools think the pbo is in an 'incorrect' format. However, this is easily reversed by hex editing the pbo back into a 'community tool' readable format. There is no way the 'encrypt' a pbo mission file atm, unless you already have access to the as yet unreleased DSSignFile BIS tool. And even when it does get released it may not allow signing of mission files. Although, it probably will. Also, I don't get into philosphical discussions about the why's and why not's of the merits of this feature being needed. @Santosa... I don't believe Winpbo.exe has been updated recently... could be wrong about this though. One should only use Keygety's, Mikero's or Feersum's pbo extraction and/or creation tools for ArmA content. There is a very simple reason for this. Pbo extraction and creation relies on the tool makers knowledge of the way in which ArmA stores data within the pbo format. If an older tool is not 'up to date' with these formats then the extracted pbo data or created pbo may have spurious data constructs. This can cause all sorts of problems. Although older tools may indeed appear to extract pbo's in there entirety this may not always be the case. The 3 tool makers mentioned above however have keenly maintained their respective tools and as such I'm more inclined to 'trust' there ability to 'do the job at hand'. lol, I do ramble don't I? It's an age thing... Cheers, Sy. PS. personal definition of 'munt' = to alter code so that it still works but is unreadable... like obsfucate.
nettrucker 142 Posted April 28, 2007 Hello where can I find mikeros pbo tool cause I can't get Kegety's to run. thanks for any reply nettrucker
baddo 0 Posted April 28, 2007 Hi Mikero's website: http://andrew.nf/ you can find his tools there, and some other 'stuff' too. What do you mean you can't get Kegetys' cpbo to run? If you don't get an option to the right-click context menu then I think that can be fixed as mentioned already.
