Looking good...

Just a thought.. Will you be using the scripting that Philcommando uses to enable you to have a multi-turret vehicle firing both at the same time? I kind of like the idea of the APC being able to use it's Gatling and Phalanx. smile_o.gif

No,to the best of my knowledge,it's green.

If you've got the special edition DVD,have a

look at the production photos.

It's the studio lights that sometimes make it

look grey.

Yeah thats the one.. don't know anything about bugs relating to it.. just remembered it was mentioned a few months back...

Am wondering if both turrets will work or just 1? Will The back turret retract just like in the movie?

I'm no addonmaker but from all I've seen and read on these forums the fact that multi-turrets work in OFP boats and ships is because they're on a constantly flat surface, and the multi-turret scripts work only because of that. I've once even seen a video of a tank with multiple guns - see this on OFP.info - but all seems to be related to the fact that the surface is flat. As soon as there is an elevation, any secondary turret gets awfully "displaced" I think. But you better ask the experts about it... But that's the reason why there are many boats and ships in OFP that use multiple turrets, but no land-based vehicles... sad_o.gif

well "awfully" is maybe a bit too much. we all know Gnat's B-52 bomber with tailgunner, that one worked fine untill you make strong rolls and such. un-pbo it and take a look.

Evenin everybody,

I too would love to see the APC fully

functional.So I'll do the best I can,

with my limited knowledge.

I think Buzzard is right about the turrets,

in relation to land vehicles.And to some

extent in aircraft.I remember Col.Klink's

PT Boat relied on the fact it was waterborne.

Which allowed it to remain relatively stable.

Just another OFP limit(unbroken barrier).

But whether I can implement everything,

or not,I still have no intention of shelving

it.Even without all the bits and bobs

workin,I still think it'd be usable.

I'll check out Gnat's B-52 at some point.

As a matter of interest,does anyone know

off hand,what the main turret is?

Machine gun,plasma cannon or what?

according to snowball a plasma cannon but id stick to the machinegun ATM or maybe a shilka bullets.. (dont know the name)

Thanks for the info Redpride.

Projectile weapons it is.

There's a lot of other nifty gadgets

at work there too.Some of

which I've seen in other addons.

Such as radar jammers and smoke/chaff/flare

launchers.But I'll get to finishing the model,

before I consider anything else.

I watched the directors cut two days ago and doesn't Bill Paxton's character call the main turret a "Independantly targetting Plasma beam phalanx"?

Apparently it can be a variety of

energy based weapons.

Particle beam,laser and phased

plasma cannon.

Although how to go about that

will be the thing.

But I think it's do-able.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves

i think the apc used in the movies was the standard version equipped with gatling weapons.

other versions have AA weapons (daisy cutter version), flechette ammo, grenade launchers or lasers.

dont get it too scifi..

although its settled in the future the mood is still very industrial..

so dont get frisky with plasma guns and shit..

the only man operated plasma weapon is the m78 if i remember correctly and its and AT weapon

The Movie version uses the M577A turret.. wich mounts "Two 20 mW boyars PARS 150 plasma cannons" Source Colonial Marine's technical manual

Just in case it helps anyone.

Pretty much loads of turrets though

others listed in the book are

twin 40 mW free electron lasers

twin 20 MeV turboalternator charged particle beam canon

quad 20mm gatling gun's

incidentaly. the forward turret can be replaced with a quad missile launcher bin.

(check out pics of the "daisycutter")

But i guess its your mod so you can mount what you want.

its worth buying the book since it fits very well with the film style... also check out the colonial marine comics.

Well,I've no intention of gettin smile_o.gif

frisky.

Despite being a big sci-fi fan,I've

always liked the gritty feel of the

Aliens film.So I'd rather go for

somethin a little more immediate,

weapon wise.

Besides,It'd be to easy to get bogged

down in doing variants at this stage.

So for the moment,at least,I'll go

with projectile weapons.Maybe when

there's somethin workable I can think

about varying things.

I've gone about as far as I can go,

with the model,aside from some

tweaking.Now it's down to

the interesting,yet frightening task

of finishin up the config and doin some

scripting.Neither of which are my

speciality.

Bill Paxton indeed played hudson

in the film.

Are we going to see any of the afore mentioned stuff e.g.

(i) Rotating rear turret (i.e. the way it folded into the back of the apc for buildings.

(ii) Some sort of radar jammer or chaff launchers?

Also after this, will there be a dropship to go hand in hand?
