max power 21 Posted February 16, 2007 Contrary to what I thought was going to be on my mind at this point in time, I most want to know if the tracers have been changed at all.
Fred DM 0 Posted February 16, 2007 This is because, in my opinion, both Starforce and SecuROM are worth avoiding. i can understand avoiding StarForce, but if you're avoiding SecuROM as well, i think you're gonna have a real hard time playing games on the PC... what's so bad about SecuROM? it has nowhere near a disastrous reputation as SF does. l mandrake 9 Posted February 16, 2007 Got my pre-ordered UK copy from Amazon this morning Fired it up, a touch disappointing to see that (a) the menus are identical to the demo (I always like to see a whole new experience when I buy a full game after playing a demo) and (b) watching the fly-by intro shots of ordinary life on Sahrani I saw two US soldiers walk right through each other as if they were ghosts  Ah well this is all superficial crap, the real fun starts now, can't wait

R3MF 0 Posted February 16, 2007 i got mine through the post about an hour ago. installed fine. played the intro fine. played the first level fine. second level got this weird effect: graphics go into a weird black overlay, with cascades of bright coloured pixels defining the characters on-screen in a strange kind of bas-relief effect. C2D 6600 2x 1GB PC6400 XFX7950GT Gigabyte P965 DS4 m/b 24" Dell 2407 (playing game at 1680x1050) WinXP Pro Buld 2600 Dx 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) nVidia 92.91 drivers cheers http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....1;top

Jackal326 1181 Posted February 16, 2007 @R3MF: Check your shader settings, and/or your post-processing settings within ArmA. @Mr. Reality: You ain't heard nothing yet, after the two CTDs I had in quick succession of each other (crash, restart game, play for 10mins, crash again), I noticed my system was acting very sluggish and not responding immediately to my commands, so I checked Task Manager. To my great annoyance Task Manager showed two arma.exe processes still running - When they crash, they don't shut down properly. HOWEVER, I've played it solidly since and haven't experienced any further CTDs, so maybe (read as: HOPEFULLY) they were mere flukes and won't be repeated. Fred DM 0 Posted February 16, 2007 I think that SF thing is BS i'm using it for what? 2 yers now i difrent games and nothing bad ever happend :P just consider this: the russian company that is responsible for StarForce suggests that the game publishers remove StarForce after the initial sales. unfortunately, only a few publishers have actually done that, yet. that alone should be reason enough to avoid it. i've never had a problem with SF, either, but there's a large number of people everywhere that claim they had problems with SF. and then there's the whole "boycott starforce" movement. and the fact that several publishers (UbiSoft, Frogster) that used to protect their games with SF dropped it in favor of other, less aggressive protection solutions. i must admit, i currently have SF installed on my precious system ; i bought Colin McRae Rally 2005, knowing it had SF. i expected to be able to work around it, but none of the solutions i've found worked. so SF will remain on my PC until i'm done with CMR05, then it will have to go - for good. i sincerely think i will not buy another SF protected game again. TiGGa 0 Posted February 16, 2007 Does the Su34 Bomber have a laser designator on board? And what's its top speed/ takeoff speed/ landing speed. How many bombs does it have? Does the cockpit ladder come down automatically after you have stopped the engine? *Can't wait for the patch* EDIT: Does it really have a toilet and a small kitchen on board? ^^

Jackal326 1181 Posted February 16, 2007 ...spent my lunch hour battling thru town to get to PC world I wouldn't be pissed off at 505, I'd be pissed off at PC World. They BUY games to sell, they aren't given to them, so its PC World's choice to sell, or in this case to not sell newly released titles. Once they review the sales figures from rival companies and see ArmA is selling else-where, they will most likely start stocking it. On another note, I still haven't encountered any further crashes, so I'm beginning to think it was more a bug with my system, than with the game itself. And for all you people complaining about the patches etc, just remember OFP was FAR from perfect when it was first released, and it took until the v1.46 Patch to get a fully stable and in my opinion enjoyable game...
