llama_thumper 0 Posted December 22, 2006 guys, is it just me, or is there no 'jump' button? i can't seem to spot it anywhere... what do i do when there is a low fence in a field or a v. low wall? excuse me for the daft question, but i really can't see that key anywhere... s_loeb 0 Posted December 22, 2006 I have the same problem. When I go for example to roof which has some kind of an edge, I cant get out of there. Is there some kind of trick or button which solves the problem??

desertfox 2 Posted December 22, 2006 Even though I strongly oppose the idea to introduce a jumping feature, I still think it's weird that a full grown virtual soldier can be stopped by a 30cm high sheep fence. I mean you really should be able to climb over it or something.

the unknown 0 Posted December 22, 2006 The option in CoD2 that shows up when you get near a building could solve the problem and also prevent bunny hopping. When you came near a window or wall you got a option to basicly climb/jump over it just take away the normal jumping part if it was even in it and it whould be fixed but probally it wont show up till the next game. icebreakr 3157 Posted December 22, 2006 If you get stuck here are the tips: - try different stances (like lying down and immediatelly tapping W twice) - try throwing a grenade, that animation might get you out of the "invisible block" - if server is respawnable, click ESC + respawn. - ask your mate to pick u up with chopper or give u a mercy shot

Worked for me most of the time.
whisper 0 Posted December 22, 2006 Nice tips, thanks! I've been trapped on top of a house because of this lack of feature, couldn't even jump to suicide

That IS a pretty good idea that should be in the game, being able to move/hop over objects with a single button when you move close enough.
robert(uk) 0 Posted December 22, 2006 I always say this when this subject comes up. Â Hidden & Dangerous 2 has a 'climb' feature where you press the X key, and this hops you over a fence, or onto a low ledge. Â I really, really think ArmA needs something like this. Even Soldner - Secret Wars had a feature where you could tap the jump key by a fence and it would make you hop over it...
Kirq 0 Posted December 22, 2006 Fact that you can't pass 1 feet high obstacles in ArmA is very very anoying. I believe it will be changed in patches. System similar to CoD2 would be great, no jumping, just posibility to jump over obstacle when you move close to it.

Look, this isn't CoD or anything, and from a technical standpoint it'd probably be difficult to implement. It was never a (big) problem in OFP, so it shouldn't be one in ArmA. Indeed, but just like every jumping topic about OFP, every ArmA topic about jumping also ends up with everyone agreeing that climbing should be in, and jumping shouldnt. (as the main complaint here is being unable to get past obstacles, not dodging bullets are whatever ) Now some talented modder who finds a nice way to put this in the game.. (or someone who creates invisible ladders at all the fences, and some invisible 'ramps' at all the 20cm walls at the rooftops )
