Anyone get zombies to work?

Hey all. I know there are zombie zombie models included in the game. However they don't eat you or anything. I have a question however, has anyone.. ANYONE been able to get the zombies in armed assault, or the ones from farmland or anything like that working in ARMED ASSAULT! i have tried.. but the scripts keep giving weird errors with the farmland one.

If anyone can figure out how to get this to work.. i would notworthy.gif to you

yeah lol i saw that... at first i was like OMFG! but then i saw that they used guns.. then i was like ZOMFG!

heheh... hopefully we will have biting/punching/growling/eating brains zombies in AA soon.

I have it on good authority that zombie1 will soon have a copy of ArmA... not that I'm hinting at anything whistle.gif

Soon? Seems like he already has a copy tounge2.gif

Im not sure if the 'standstrokefist' animation is still in ArmA, the strokefist 'weapon' is removed, so im not sure what animation the zombies would have to use instead tounge2.gif

EDIT: Oh, seems like zombie already found out about that.. crazy_o.gif

Don't you worry lads, I'm on the case...

The good news is that my scripts work with ArmA, Mig has tested them yay.gif - mind you the zombies speak, they say "can't get there" lol

The bad news is we don't have a punch anim banghead.gif

But the best news is that the new scripting features of ArmA should allow me to add *more* features yay.gif

I'm taking delivery of a Radeon X1950XTX tomorrow, once I get that I'm going to see just how many zombies I can run at once. If I can manage the 1000 then we're golden - I'm looking for nothing less than Dead Rising here folks, except with tanks & soldiers pistols.gif

I think we should petition BIS to get the StandStrokeFist back into the game ASAP.

BIS, YOU INCLUDED ZOMBIES IN THE SYSTEM, ITS YOUR OWN FAULT - Please give us a punch animation biggrin_o.gif

Placebo, please pass this request to Maruk, I know he's a fan..... rofl.gif

Zombie_mod i have gladly signed your petition.

However, we need to consider the possibility that BIS will not make a Strokefist animation. Either we need to find another animation, or we just don't use one for the time being.

If i recall correctly, some of the early versions of the OFP zombies (Back in the day) didn't have animation for punching.. and they were still a blast!

So i guess im saying... i for one would be just satisfied with an AI to walk/run (Prefer run) towards me, then me addamage .5

:-)

Maybe a bit o' groanin an moanin in there too.

btw. PM me if you'd like some beta testing for your zombies.. i've beta tested 2 previous zombie mods for OFP (Zombie1's and FML). I usually can get them tested in MP over a Lan pretty quick..

(Me and a few of my freinds love ofp w/ zombies. I thank you for giving us those many hours of fun.)

Zombies are working with ArmA, with some limitations like Scott said, and they are not ready for any betatesting, calm down mrbean1112. We will not forget you or other usuall zombie beta-testers when betatesting time comes up:) You have this great game to explore, in the meantime nener.gif

how smooth do you think a pc is gonna run with a 1000 zombies at once? im thinking your gonna need a big rig. someone please tell me im wrong to make me feel better. some people i talk to say you can run arma with 1 gb ram, and a 6800gt on meduim to high settings just fine. others say you need 2 gb ram and 768-1gb gpu to run it on medium. so how the hell will 1000 zombies work lol?

Well, thanks to the new .fsm system zombies can probably be made much more effecient (less CPU cycle consuming), so i think that we will be able to have even more zombies then in OFP. smile_o.gif

(someday, alot still needs to be discovered about .fms...)

hmmm well thats actually cool , it would be useful for adding the element of hand-to-hand/self-defence training , if only a animation . it's still a complete kata so it would be cool.

didnt bother to look if anyone has mentioned it yet , but i found on the wiki that there is : punch,  buttstroke , and kick ( i think) for Arma . even if these are just animations , would it be that hard to attach a damaging effect code to it? but that's just my speculation. zombies should also move at an increased speed , sprint speed , but sprint speed as their defualt combat movement speed  biggrin_o.gif  .

my clan leader can't seem to grasp the idea of zombies in arma properly , i think it's because he has a limited mind and a limited taste. i was trying to explain to him in the sense of survival horror , with low ammunition , heavily outnumbered , ect ect. , but all he can see it as is : standard arma + zombie enemies. so consequently he thinks it's a shit idea. but i don't really give a shit either , after all there's plenty more people who like the idea here. (he also raves on about BF2142 , but when i suggest the idea of BF2142 in Arma , he goes "no , then arma would just be extremely gay" .... he doesnt make sense at all , if he loves BF2142 so much , it would only be improved by arma's large large large area and a better combat system , not to mention a totally better engine.)

man.. if this junk gets working in AA, and if I can get my hands on the game (Canada), i'll make a couple zombie missions, lol (i made the first Nogova Virus that i think really grabbed some more people's attention... back in the day).

in all seriousness, I bet you could really impress people with a good zombie mod in this engine... it could be ---VERY--- immersive...

i know nothing of the modding front for AA... are we able to custom make anims and implement them? if so, is it through the same way as OFP?

Best thing is that we include zombies in one of the regular weekly coop missions to freak players out smile_o.gif
