Shadow problem

Recommended Posts

Hi !

I'v got a little problem when I'm playing ArmA. I didn't see anybody reporting this. I don't know how to explain it clearly 'cause I don't speak english very well, but I'll do my best.

There's a double line of shadows that follows me everywhere, even if there's nothing behind me. I took some screenshots to show you what is it. I know it's not the most important thing, but it's not very beautiful...

Screenshots :

My config :

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+

Corsair TwinX 2048Mo PC3200

Leadtek 7950GX2 1024Mo PCI-E with last Nvidia officials drivers installed

Windows XP Pro SP2

My game :

Official german Armed Assault v1.01.5094 downloaded from boutique.gamesplanet.com

My settings ingame :

I have tested with differents graphics settings, and the double line is always here. I tried with and without the english "patch": same results.

I just wanted to report this. Maybe one day there will be an issue (I hope).

Thank you BIS inlove.gif !

Don't take my word for it, as I don't have ArmA yet, but I'm pretty sure that's the texture level of detail changing, so in the distance it gets lower resolution and nearer to the player it's high resolution, saving processing time and whatnot. I'm not 100%, but I'm pretty sure this is the case.

I'm not sure to understand all that you said, but yes, when I turn the details level on "low", the lines are disappearing. So, what's the problem ? What should I do ?

Weird. This is exactly what should anisotropic filtering take care about... but as i can see, you have it set at high.

If you have 'anisotropic mip filter optimization' enabled from the nvidia driver settings, set it off.

in ATI world, force the "trilinear mipmapping" , but let the "trilinear optimisation" enabled ...

(because image degrad is almost null but performance take a big drop)

can be easily done with ati tray tool ,with profile stuff.
