crave22 0 Posted October 3, 2006 I remember this was brought up some time ago, but anyway... With Nogova in such a hotspot, the US would probably be overjoyed to get a base on it directly after the Soviet invasion. It, like many other nations, would probably recieve a nice little bonus for their defense budgets during the Cold War, much like how Israel gets a ton of cash each year for their little projects. So with this boost, and US support pretty much guaranteed, they can afford some western weapons and better training for their troops with minimal hit to the civy economy. After the Cold War ended this support from the US would probably be cut off gradually, but some European nations could possibly see an advantage to continuing support for Nogova in return for either land for bases or trade, etc. Perhaps that is how older British weapons could tie into it all? Or even French or German weapons? The EU would probably even assist Nogova in growing economically and militarily, giving it a bit of a boost. I mean after the Soviet invasion Nogova's economy could probably get a nice boost from NATO nations moving to support it. A nice little industrialization could even be in its future. Who knows? In any case, great work so far. Can't wait to see the finished product.
olemissrebel 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Nogova isn't a country, that's the problem, it's generally considered part of the czech republic, afterall, the island is in the middle of a lake! That's great to talk about, but in reality no renegade colonel would waste his time, or mens lives taking over some shitty little island like nogova that has a next to nothing economy. crave22 0 Posted October 4, 2006 I did not know that, and I'm not so sure on that one... According to the Resistance site Nogova is a former Soviet socialist outpost turned independent democracy, with a weak economy and a somewhat unhappy populace. That, and it is located a short distance from the Malden archipelago, which I forget where that is but I believe it was either the Black Sea or the Baltic Sea. I believe it was the Baltic, since the Baltic can be accessed by both eastern and western European nations. (the French and Spanish influences on Everon and Malden) I've been away from the community for a while, though, so my ramblings are probably meaningless. wipman 1 Posted October 4, 2006 Hi, now letting apart the "what weapons they could wear" argument... what about the vehicles that they could use?; could they use as .cpp becomed .pbo , a moded PSC BTR-T's 1.1 & PSC/LAVOS Resistance MT-LB's 2.2 with it's own crew and without ammo/weapons in the cargo unless in the MT-LB Box (RES) case? and the BTR-T's could have just 2 MG ammo boxes and an RPG & 4 rockets. If they use russian equipment... this may be a option. But as some one said in other part of this forums, is not wise to use big poly account addons because no one use 'em in multyplayer, like our M4's... but for some reason the BAS MH/HH60's pass this "rule" with they'r 18.000 faces. Let's C ya
somebloke 0 Posted October 4, 2006 Hold on a minute, at least let roadkill finish off the infantry. This is his first project and he's relatively new to the O2 software. So starting to discuss about vehicles, when the modder has only just made infantry, is a bit much for someone to take on board.

dm 9 Posted October 4, 2006 ...but for some reason the BAS MH/HH60's pass this "rule" with they'r 18.000 faces. *Sigh* Polycounts are about 2/3rds of what you quoted AH-60L: 6871 MH-60K: 6933 MH-60L: 5899 UH-60L: 5758 We're no different, and no more special than any other addon makers
R0adki11 3949 Posted October 4, 2006 @ all please stay on topic, this is about infantry units at the moment i may expand in vehicles at another time, but for now i will concentrate only on my infantry, and as now i have started my final yr at university it is proving hard to find time to do my infantry. Can people please be patient, really wishing id chosen malden, not nogova cause it seem to have brought up such a heated debate on the issue again and again
somebloke 0 Posted October 4, 2006 You could always do both.

That'd just be a whole new debate. Then again, it IS a discussion forum, be happy people are interested in the topic at least.
Jackal326 1181 Posted October 4, 2006 One solution that will (probably) keep most people happy is to config 3 versions of the addon (all within the same config.cpp in the same .pbo). Basically you'd have a "West" version of the units, packing US weapons etc, "East" alligned units using Russian weapons, and then the Resistance side with a mixture of the other two. Whatever you decide, I eagerly await the result what with N.A.F. seemingly having taken a dirt-nap.

RockIslandMarine 0 Posted October 5, 2006 I thank that with all the farming Nogova might be able to raise the Cash to buy 2 hand trainer attack aircraft from the Czech Republic (Aero Vodochody L-39ZA) donate forget the entire population of the countries is only around 1600 people. Believe me I counted all 631 houses and times by 2.5 to get the pop.

Jackal326 1181 Posted October 5, 2006 Hooray for double-posts. On another note, I wouldn't take that as an accurate number for population, at least not within the realms of BIS. If you recall, each town is referred to as a city in the campaigns/missions by BIS. To qualify as a city in the UK, the settlement must have a cathedral and a certain population. BIS scaled back the towns/cities from what they wanted to reduce the lag it would cause (I assume), so just use your imagination.
Messiah 2 Posted October 5, 2006 To qualify as a city in the UK, the settlement must have a cathedral and a certain population. you only require a church of england cathedral, and even that isnt a set rule - city-ship is granted by the monarch and has no fixed criteria, although obviously some are followed ... take durham for example (a very small population, yet is still considered a city due to its cathedral, castle etc) ... take nottingham for example, its cathedral is roman catholic, hence not fullfilling the CoE 'criteria' but fullfills the population criteria. its all a bit higgldy piggldy with regards to british cities, but yeah generally they're whats known as a cathedral city. CanadianTerror 0 Posted October 5, 2006 Quote[/b] ]Believe me I counted all 631 houses Your not serious I dont think BIS planned Nogova out for people to disect it this much...there should be a little give and take when comparing it to real cities/islands. RockIslandMarine 0 Posted October 6, 2006 I was Bord on night after Drill and started driving around the island looking at houses and writhing down where they all are. and tried to find out the pop.... Note1: to bad I lost the sheet I wrought on. Note2: I have not started any other islands Note3:santa lol By the why in the United States a City is Qualified the state and not the National Government. Ex: I live in Davenport Iowa Which in my state is a big city. in New York State my City would be a town not a city but a large town. Note4: I still believe that the Economy of BIS Nagova is based on its Mine and Farming and that is the same Economy my State is based on (+hogs) and Iowa is one of the Richest states (not including the Oil States, like Texas) because we export grain and Rock all over the world. So Nagova is like Iowa on a small scale.
