Building Interiors

Shots like the one below look great but not one shows a buildings interior thru an open window or door.

Will we be unable to enter buildings in ArmA?

If not then why are so many buildings closed, the vast majority of OFP & OFP:R buildings could be entered.

A lot of interviews and previews meantion improved CQB collision detection and enemy AI but if all the buildings are sealed where will this take place?

please use search next time (answer is yes You will be able enter nearly any or all buildings) ...

My guees is that they're still working on the interiors, since the last press release says;

Well the screenshot above seems to show that statement to be false, those windows are textures.

WIP = Not finished = Funky looking = Let's work on it and show pics of it when it's done.

Considering the ramping up of PR interviews and previews as well as a planned showing at E3 and Q4 release I wonder how big a step it is for the engine to switch from buildings that are textured blocks to buildings that have full interiors on a large scale such as in the town above.

As for patience, I've been around since OFPs release and still play coop with friends on Tuesdays, I have all the patience in the world.

making buildings is by far the easiest thing to moddle , config , and texture as long as you use real pics to make the textures, if ofp community wants a large choice of enterable, good looking buildings

the only way to get it , is to make it by our/yourself .

From what im guessing id say the buildings are going to be just like they are in OFP now. Some will be accessible, some will not.

In one of the videos before you see the player walk into a building. Also the majority of buildings on Nogova were not enterable. It was about 50/50.

What i m wondering is if the AI will be able to fight and navigate indoors, not like in OFP where they was just going to defined position by the building maker.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'd rather have a large number of low-poly, closed buildings than a smaller number of high-poly enterable buildings.

Make it functional, not beautiful(although if both are possible, why not, but this world isnt perfect.. wink_o.gif )!

I say a mixture of the two. Urban combat isn't as fun if you don't have to check windows for snipers. Only problem is eventually you will get used to which buildings are open and which are closed so you will pretty much know where they are anyway.

Would be nice to have good buildings, recreational facilities like public pools, etc. with administration buildings, schools, a university somewhere, shops, you know - stuff that makes a city believable.

I'd sure like to check out the royal palace of south sahrani.

In Operation flashpoint, you were able to open doors and I think this one is the same

I've the general floorplan and layout of buildings at my old Uni. It's a reasonably small campus, I might model it up if the import / texture tools are user friendly. That would be fun. and a few profs too! (why don't ya calculate the physics of this bullet as it punches thru yer sternum, Halversham! Hated that class icon_rolleyes.gif )

if a building is closed and not acessible that means it cant be destroyed, right?

what if a tank destroys a closed house, can we enter the house after its destroyed?

I hope thats a simple, and easely changable

in the config, because i prefer oregami above indestructable buildings... wink_o.gif

Oh, and modders would (probably) be able to make nice "destruction anims", like with that bridge!  smile_o.gif

well we already know that the bridge is destructible. Which means the ability for addon makers to give there buildings destroyble properties IS there. Which means i wouldnt be suprised that a while after release we'll be seeing custom islands made entirly of custom usermade destroyble buildings.

I counted 5 bridges in ARMA. 1 is from the video desctructible.. the rest i hope so too wink_o.gif

With the new physics,  I wonder if buildings can be broken into several bricks, add a mass and maybe a 'glue' value to them, and have them be blown apart from dammage?

The mass would keep them seated on the ground and falling with a thud, and the glue value would be the amount of damage required to break them loose in the first place..  Hmmm.   whistle.gif

On that token, wouldn't it be nice if you could move furniture -  I mean with a grenade or some explosive, not for interior decorating anything.  crazy_o.gif
