Amazing stuff! I cant wait till they start growing more things! can see this saving possibly millions of lives! Plus sort of puts my mind a bit more at rest after all thous nights out and having a bit too much to drink any way guys! thoughts?

Plus sort of puts my mind a bit more at rest after all thous nights out and having a bit too much to drink  any way guys! thoughts? Absolutely incredible. I think one of the things I would most like to see in my lifetime is the re-growing of damaged nerve pathways in the spine. This would enable people who were paralysed even from the neck down to be able to walk again. How incredible would that be Also perhaps it would eventually mean that limbs can be regrown and surgically attached without the possiblity of the patients body rejecting them. This would also have huge benefits to people requiring transplants. Going really, really out there I wonder if in the future a carbon copy of someone's brain could be manufactured before they died to preserve the knowledge they have spent an entire lifetime acquiring? I think it's positively great news. It's what science is all about. Making life better
stainer 0 Posted April 4, 2006 I want to know how the patients are doing, there could be unforseen side effects, can't be easy for the body to suddenly accept a new bladder. Edit - looked throught the article again, seems the patients are okay because the bladder was grown from their own tissue. Science continues to amaze. Ironsight 1 Posted April 5, 2006 Can they also add more bladders in one body? That would be so cool. Only having to pee one time a day. If they can give me more bladders I would sign up right now for a few gallons. When are we going to see brain cells growing in a lab? Some people are in desperate need of some.... Currently humans only use a fraction of their brain as it is. Not a juvenile insult but a fact. So why bother giving people more brain matter they wont use? I like this one though... CsonkaPityu 0 Posted April 5, 2006 Sorry to get all negative on this neat new achievement but isn't the earth getting overpopulated already? So if even more people stay alive through some artificial means won't it make things worse?

So if even more people stay alive through some artificial means won't it make things worse? Pff, it's not like we are getting sunk with westerners. Your average antibiotics/food aid haul to some 3rd world hellhole will provide much more new people than some organ transplant.
Student Pilot 0 Posted April 6, 2006 Very interesting, and this method of transplanting doesn't have the moral/ethical considerations of the stem-cell projects. Very good news. Quote[/b] ]Sorry to get all negative on this neat new achievement but isn't the earth getting overpopulated already? So if even more people stay alive through some artificial means won't it make things worse? A. It's not artificial, and B. I've heard that the world's population could all fit in the state of Texas. Â I wouldn't say the earth is overpopulated just yet -Pilot

So if even more people stay alive through some artificial means won't it make things worse? Better quality of life usually results in lower nativity, which in the long run actually could decrease the population. Something like 250000 people are born every day, I doubt that those few, whose lives could be extended, would have any significant impact on the total population. What the tsunami killed off a while ago, grew back in about a day.
