EvEnLeaSe44 0 Posted November 30, 2005 Hello gents. Safety has been working very hard on making backpacks for the marines he made. This will be his last version of the marines, no more stuff will be added or taken off. And the next couple pictures are how they work. Once you drop the back pack, you can get ammo for the gun you have out of it. You can pick the backpack back up on ure back. Its a very secret to when he will be releasing these very nice updated marines, but i have to say... Very soon. Stand by for more information or pictures, any questions. post. knochknight71 0 Posted December 1, 2005 I don't know if you'd be interested in making it, but the other day I found this thing called a SMAW-NE. It uses a "thermobaric" explosive. Marines knocked down houses in Fallujah with one round. Maybe you'd be interested in adding that to your pack? Here's some info: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/smaw-ne.htm http://www.defensetech.org/archives/cat_ammo_and_munitions.html Everyone's been up in arms about using FAE's (that's really not what it is) around civilians and there are discussions all over the internet about the ethics of using it. None the less, it is in use and it's friggin awesome.
DaneDK 0 Posted December 1, 2005 It's nice to see addon makers are making useable backpacks more and more now
AKM 0 Posted December 1, 2005 Thermobarics are nothing really new. The Russians have been using them for many years now. It always cracks me up when the Americans come in with things like the SMAW-NE and go "Guess what we have!" Want to see what thermobarics are really capable of? Check out Grozny, a lot of that place ate RPO-A, TGB-7V, and even larger thermobaric warheads. And you think the SMAW-NE is bad, the TBG-7V is worse (More powerful.) And the Russians have much larger thermobaric warheads as well. Fun for the whole family, until the overpressure (Amongst other effects) wave hits. But the point of that little rant, besides being somewhat educational, is that thermobarics are very difficult if not impossible to simulate in OFP. The type of explosion generated cannot be adaquetely simulated by the current engine. RHS and probably many other Russian modteams have looked into this. Commando84 0 Posted December 1, 2005 Dynno, a bit offtopic but do armies use rocketlaunchers against infantery??? i always thought it was something that was used mainly against tanks , bunkers, choppers , and such.
-HUNTER- 1 Posted December 1, 2005 well if he's inside a house or well behind a wall you could offcourse shoot something at it, which will make a big hole and probally kill the target inside, if not you've got a hole to shoot other stuff thrue... They use 2000lb JDAM bombs on houses in which maybee just three ppl were hiding/shooting from... So do I in ofp... I mean you do want to win with the least ammount of casualties on your side. Ive seen many airburst type weapons being used, I dont know exactly which type but I would guess mortars of some kind...??? anybody know?
Messiah 2 Posted December 1, 2005 Dynno, a bit offtopic but do armies use rocketlaunchers against infantery??? i always thought it was something that was used mainly against tanks , bunkers, choppers , and such. I've seen US Marines using the Javelin missile against housing in Iraq, where insurgents were holed up... its no different that putting a HEAT through the window - same effect

nyaM 0 Posted December 16, 2005 any news looking foward to these units
Jackal326 1181 Posted December 16, 2005 As far as I know (thanks to my help *grins*) the models are almost done, or as done as they're going to get. As for the release, I think some new features are being scripted, the details of which I'll leave to Safety's discretion as to wehther or not to release details of, so the release will be soon, but how soon is anyone's guess. miles teg 1 Posted December 18, 2005 Concerning the Javelin, I'm not sure what the big deal is just making two Javelin units. One for the AI using a Javelin made to fire like a regular rocket (but guided such as the OFrP Eryx hand-held ATGM). Then have a Javelin(player) unit using the more realistic Javelin with the original settings that keep the AI from using it. That shouldn't be too difficult to do no? Messiah 2 Posted December 18, 2005 well, it was a 3rd part addon maker who 'fixed' the problem, although the 'fix' made the javelin fire inaccurate - instead of firing like a javelin (popping out the tube, and then main motor burn) it fires more like a law - flashpoint engine and AI for you i guess
