major woody 11 Posted November 24, 2005 Bought Gold Upgrade october 2002, Resistance may 2003. Since I'v bought 4 x GOTY and 1 x CWC. Don't as why (The two GOTY was for a friend and my brother) Tried occasionally to play Ghost Recon and MOHAA, but quickly went back to OFP. I don't think I ever gonna play anything else but OFP... harley 3 1185 0 Posted November 24, 2005 Before the development team ? I remember on the CWC demo, every time when I started I used to kill the sergeant, kill the nearby sentries, hide from the APC then flee to wreak more havoc! Those were the days . cain2001 0 Posted November 26, 2005 Nah, i lied, i just wanted to see if people started to throw bananas at me Truth is i got the Demo from the swedish magazine here in sweden, bought it couple of days after its release here. Played it for 2 weeks and stopped for around 4 months or so. Started playing again few weeks befor 1.30 was released. Now i spend too much of my life playing it in public games to lead me 4 years later into a dead end of a gaming community that is just ruins. Im really hoping AA will bring some fresh blood to play against.

Hidden 0 Posted November 28, 2005 I do not remember the exact date, but I received my copy of OFP 1985 3 days before the official release date in Europe. I still remember people not believing me until I posted pics of the CD, cover and manual . I played OFP 1985 and Resistance straight for about 2 years before I started looking for something different. I have never played such a realistic soldiersim ever since, and many FPS titles today seem to have been inspired by Operation Flashpoint 1985. Will I return to OFP 1985? Most likely, yes. I never really got around to learning to make my own landscape, and then there's all those MOD's released after I stopped playing.. very tempting indeed! I still recommend this game to people asking what it is, and they usually fall in love with it pretty soon. Not bad for a game that has been around for a couple of years. I recently re-built my PC with a phat graphics card, fast memory and all, in order to run Battlefield 2 efficiently. After a couple of days, I was bored enough to put BF2 in the closet, and I have not installed it again since. OFP 1985 kept me playing just about every day for about 2 years. Jinef 2 Posted December 9, 2005 .... saw the spread in PC gamer. The stars, compass etc. Masturbated over the magazine for a while. Got the magazine with the demo first day it came out and played it incessantly. Amazingly there was already custom mission. My favourite mission was helicopters flying into the flatlands near st. marie. I would play on every side, as a heli pilot, missile soldier or normal rifleman. Great fun. Got the game the very first day it came out at 09:00. Have been playing it ever since to the detrement of education, money making and any remnants of a social life. I have this love/hate relationship going on. Like a woman who is beaten by her husband

Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted February 20, 2006 Spring 2001, downloaded the demo - got me hooked. At that time I was waiting for WWIIOL, but the demo made me goto ofp instead. June 16th 2001... Downloaded a hacked version. June 21st 2001, bought the game
j w 0 Posted February 20, 2006 29th of august 2004. Got it for my birthday. Never played any other PC-game other then OFP.
westy159 0 Posted February 20, 2006 my friend got it on release. I went to his house to play it everyday i could. It wouldnt work on my PC. After about 6 months he sold the game (even tho he regrets doing that now) because he does that with all his games. Sells em, buys new ones etc. 2 years ago now in saw OFP CWC and Gold upgrade in a shop second hand for Å6. Remembering all the good times i had with that game i bought it. For a year i was going solo mainly. Then i found ofpec.com and got into making my own complex missions and multiplayer. Now ive stopped the mission maikng and just do serious online co-op when i can. CameronMcDonald 146 Posted February 20, 2006 In the beginning of Flashpoint, there was CameronMcDonald. I got it about the second it came out in Australia - my boarding house buddies didn't want it - they ended up getting some crappy surfing game - and I haven't looked back since. booradley60 0 Posted February 21, 2006 November 2001. I don't subscribe to gamer mags, I didn't really get online that much, basically I bought it because of the pictures on the box and some ingame footage I saw in the store. Lucky grab, I guess.
dmakatra 1 Posted February 25, 2006 I (or rather, my brother) bought it when it just came out. Played a few missions and loved it. Then I got stuck on an early mission and I don't know why but I just put it on the shelf, even though I loved it. One or two months later I saw the Flashpoint-folder. Turns out I hadn't uninstalled it, probably 'cause I didn't need any more space. Lucky for me, because when I booted it up, I was stuck. I loved it even more. As soon as I had finished the campaign I started messing round with the editor. And here I am these several years later, still playing the game (although less frequently). The moral of this story? Don't buy large harddrives, they'll ruin your life by making you become fanatic about games that you should have forgotten of otherwise.
XCess 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Played the demo on PC Gamer UK's demo discs and got the game for my b'day in august (2001 i think but I'm not sure). This was before I even had internet so I had to go to the library to visit ofpec
Blake 0 Posted February 26, 2006 First heard of the game in sometime around summer 2000 and drooled over the screenshots. Played demo and later some notepad-made missions in March 2001. First got my hands on the game in June 2001.
Shashman 0 Posted February 26, 2006 The day it was released in Belgium I upgraded my PC just for OFP. I can't believe it ran smoother then than it does now I've had 2 new systems since then too
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted February 27, 2006 Same - I was sick of OFP running like crap at 500m viewdistance. (16MBs graphics ) Now it runs... ah, like mercury on ice. At 2000m viewdistance, everything on full!
Shashman 0 Posted February 27, 2006 Same - I was sick of OFP running like crap at 500m viewdistance. (16MBs graphics )Now it runs... ah, like mercury on ice. At 2000m viewdistance, everything on full! Well lucky you. My clock speed is *calculates* ... 2.3x the clock speed I had when I bought OFP, yet it actually runs slower now, than it did on that machine... Progress... Creepy_Smell 0 Posted February 27, 2006 Is it wrong if I didnt really play it until Jan 06 <Hides head in shame> I tried the demo years back when I was getting away from CS team death match stuff but it was too complicated for me at the time. I went with Ghost Recon, then Swat 3 and later Raven Shield first. After playing some Joint Ops I wanted infantry + vehicles in SP and tried the OFP demo again. Even with dated graphics it was what I was looking for in a game. All the mods just made it better. I knew ArmA was coming out but just couldnt wait for it so picked up OFP GOTY. I haven't played much else in the last 2 months. Fairly new games go unplayed as I cant get enough of this oldie. While at times I wish I hadnt waited so long to play it another part is happy since there a ton of excellent mods and missions to play now. Im also amazed at how active this community still is. I'm definitely a convert as ArmA is about the only new game I'm interested in getting. Cant wait to see what the mod/mission community does with it.
