Ah Xfrog (best tree design proggy ^_^ however those trees are for in movies not in games as they are well beyond 1mil polys), yes I used it for Nature Pack 2 for some trees and mostly for reference

But mostly for better branch textures I used these sites:

http://www.bomengids.nl/

http://baumkunde.de/

They have really nice pics. smile_o.gif

The last pic with the forest looks kind of strange with these dark and bright trees contrasting. Other trees look top notch. smile_o.gif

BTW. Don't want to dig up the other thread, but I wanted to ask if the Nature Pack 2 (Tropic) is still being worked on? wink_o.gif

It is "on hold" for now. smile_o.gif OFP just have much trouble maintaining an acceptable fps with many objects on screen even if they are only few polys. But i'll continue to work on it for ArmA.

About the forest, its from the finnish building pack as they are the only one that actually work I don't know how Ares did it but my attempts fail each time over sad_o.gif

Some pine trees, all 'leavy' trees/shrubs are done execpt the forest so I used it from FBP otherwise I had an empty area behind it smile_o.gif

Pic 2

only thing I need is a forest floor...

What doesn't work? Maybe I could help.

Well, each time I make a forest I do the same routine by replacing the Resistance .p3d's with the forest I created and it doesn't allign to the ground correctly I don't know what causes it but the one's from FBP does work. huh.gif

change the vertex properties to "keep height (fence)"

Hello,

that´s really a very good work you are doing. I am looking forward to walk through the forest and enjoy the nature.

Keep it up ! I think a lot of people from the community are very excited about using your new nature pack.

Cheers,

Me thinks it could use some ferns and stuff. Somethink that can conceal prone soldiers. Other than that, looks outstanding. smile_o.gif

Nice work.

How well does AI behave around them?

Are they able to walk close to them or do they have to take huge detours?

As for cover. A really dense pine forest usually has very little growth on the ground. Very little can live in the dark beneath. smile_o.gif

Yeah, a "nature walk" in thick fir forest/pine plantation can be pretty barren and depressing. And it's easy to get lost  whistle.gif  wink_o.gif

On the other hand, some types such as Caledonian pine forest can be very open with loads of heather, juniper and shrubs underneath, and are buzzing with life.

Back OT the shots look beautiful - great work Berghoff!

Cheers,

CH
