New F-18's

The RAD F-18's are sweet, but i think that they are to big to view in 3rd person view, it looks like you are flying a 747.

The F-18 in the FDF mod is nice, it is a perfect size but the weapon loudout sucks because it only has 2 weapons and besides you can't take it out by itself.

Can someone make a new F-18 (perferably grey)?

a F/A-18E pack would be cool as you could do so much with it, have like the F and the super cool E/A-18G "gowler" which the us navy are developing from the super hornet

Glad this is creating intrest. It's weird though, i mean there are so many MIG-29's out there, but only 1 or 2 F-18's? I guess more people like MIGS than F-18's lol .

i agree.. RAD's are probably a bit outdated due to their size. I havent even tried the FDF one, too big of a pack for me to download :-( I think someone should try to contact the FDF mod makers and see if someone can mod theirs into differnt skins for different countries, (Canada, USA, any others that use em)

I like RADs F18 , they are easy to fly and don't fly like an air craft carrier just resize them and they were much cooler

The RAD F18's are perfectly to scale from what I can tell, especially compared to other jets. Maybe you just need to change the 3rd person camera distance in the cfg.

Also, their weapons loadouts, etc. are very nicely detailed and the scripting on them is excellent.

would definately love to see a new hornet that is more compatiable with the rest of the addon aircraft we have....rads is ok but there is definately room for improvement besides look how many M4s there are

Even though it's our own model, it's so old and far from perfect. Weird random destructions while trying to land or take off, that's probably problem with LODs. And the weapon loadout, that doesn't have balls enough: Finnish Hornets aren't designated as F/A because they don't have any Air-to-Ground weaponry - unless you count that 20 mm gun as such.

World is full of lovely planes to model, many of them haven't seen the OFP skies yet.

Try to do something unique, but still something you like!

Anyway... maybe not a whole new pack, but an update to RAD planes would be very nice... ie. with fixed camera position, new ACES weapon loadouts, fixed model lighting, etc...

well, i´d like a Hornet, but i´d rather have anyone making a AV8B Harrier, it wouldnt be hard to make it, it doesnt need the VTOL capacity in OFP (besides, AI wont handle VTOL anyway), just make it a STOL plane (VERY short takeoff and landing on the Harrier) becouse IRL it need a short runway to take of with full weapons load...

though i wouldnt cry if anyone makes a new nice F/A 18 or a Super hornet ;)

IRL the only reason why the harriers use STOL most of the time... At least on takeoff is becasue of the very large ammount of fuel burned. A VTOL takeoff requires a large ammount of fuel, whereas a STOL takeoff from a ship does not involve as much. BTW VTOL is les fuel costly when used on landing... Seeing how gravity aids the pilot when bringing the plane down. However when taking off, the pilot needs more fuel and power to the engines to "fight" gravity, otherwise the plane would just be in a hover and would not climb, or could just verywell not even get off the ground lol. Also you notice that when preforming VTOL takeoffs normally the plane has a lighter payload then when preforming STOL operations. Sorry for the OT but I think that it should be mentioned.
