miss_cleo 0 Posted March 12, 2005 I havent had much time to work on these lately... the deset guys are almost done.. Im not sure i like the forearms/hands, i may have to redo them or go back to longsleeves. As for the black bdus.. the textures are almost done, they look great in bulldozer but not ingame. I think i might have to darken them a bit. I still need help with those muzzleflashes. some desert pics:

FerretFangs 0 Posted March 12, 2005 I don't know if the M249 was in use by SEALs in the eighties, unless it was the European version, that could take NATO mags, or belt-feed. I'd probably give that guy another M60E3, an M16/M203, or a Stoner LMG. The Stoners were in use with SEAL Teams for a number of years following Viet Nam. And BTW, I don't think the USN had any AT4's either. Standard issue M72's were in use with the SEALs up until the Nineties. The rest of it is FUnCtionally awesome indeed. Models, textures- it's all BADASS, will download for sure! Bravo Zulu!

miss_cleo 0 Posted March 12, 2005 the weapons loadouts have not yet been finalized, but i suspect that the SEALs can get their hands on pretty much anything they want, especially if its already in the US arsenal. I have seen Rangers in the early 80s with AT4s, so i imagine its not out of the realm of possibility. if released the pack will probably come with my XMs, M653s, and Uzis, and be dependant on Lasers upcoming US weapons pack for the M-60 and M-60e3. Unless Laser decides to add one of the older style M249s to his pack, they wont use one anyway. @agememnon: Thats a nice stoner... but that version is actually a little too recent for 80s era troops. the bottom one is better.. but so far as i know, noone hase made decent stoner pack yet, and i lack the skills to make one from scratch. I am working on my first scratch built weapon right now.. the M-67 90mm Recoiless rifle.
agamennone 0 Posted March 12, 2005 @agememnon: Thats a nice stoner... but that version is actually a little too recent for 80s era troops yeah! but i think that if you leave the ris sistem and the front grip it will be a good '80's stoner :P i have a resin model of the vietnam seal's stoner and it's the same of the picture. grunt249 0 Posted March 12, 2005 These units are looking great so far, a great addition that will prove helpful for some of the more "modern" post-Nam missions. Regarding the Stoner 63 weapons system, I think it would make a great new weapons pack. But one thing to consider is that the weapon system was quite...intense. It had many different variants for it, and if someone did make the pack they should try to include as many variants as possible (excluding the remotely-fired vehicle mount version). This wouldn't be too difficult, just minor changes to the base model. But still, the overall project to make this weapon system for OFP could take time if it was to be made accurately and with decent detail. I have had the opportunity to fire this weapon in real life, almost bought one back when I had the money. Now unfortunately they are selling for around $25,000 for a basic rifle and up to $100,000+ for the complete system   It was in fact a great weapon, but I honestly preferred my M249 SAW a bit more. But for the era, it wasn't too bad. Below I'll post a few quick links just in case others are interested in finding out more about it. Bobcatt666 0 Posted March 13, 2005 It was common in the 80s to use the milspect black shells of the issued gloves, and chop off the fingeers making them fingerless, I must in hot areas where metal parts bake in the sun and literly burn you when you touch it, still have a branding from a belt of M60 amo that moved when I was running in the desert and did the Poncho via belt wearing till the CO told me I was dork. =p Later gave me a bunch of bandoleers I nearly got killed by later trippig over the straps while runing away from DHSK fire. =) Fix the guy with the weat band, it sits too high on his head. Tiger stripe was still issued in the 80s BTW, I still got mine from when I was a RECONDO. =P The Patern differs between NAVY/MArine and Army
miss_cleo 0 Posted March 13, 2005 you know.. I was thinking about doing some tigerstripe guys.. Maybe after i get everything sorted out i will do just that. The muzzleflash thingy has been solved.. Many thanks go out to $cruffy for his input. Jackal has also given his permission for me to use his SEAL headgear, so that puts me one step closer to completion. Yay. jotte 0 Posted March 13, 2005 Excellent Being a fan of the original CWC era this pack is something I look very much forward too.
Stelios 1 Posted March 13, 2005 Tigerstripe would be awesome. They could then easily pass for Vietnam SEALs. Although the ones from SEB Nam pack still do the job, having NAM SEAL's of this era would be great. @grunt249 : i wouldnt consider this spamming the topic. You're giving some good info here if MissCleo or someone else decides to start working on a M63 Stoner pack

Jackal326 1182 Posted March 14, 2005 Looking good Miss Cleo, looking very good indeed. If you're looking for weapons for the SEALs, check out this list. Its a (very long) list of the weapons currently contained in the update to my weapons pack, which I will be releasing shortly (in a matter of weeks).
FerretFangs 0 Posted March 14, 2005 Good list, but the shotguns are a little lacking. Where was that first pack?
Stelios 1 Posted March 14, 2005 That is an impressive list jackal, but i don't know how relevant it is for 1980-1990 era units. The Colt commando and colt 1911 sounds interesting. I was thinking btw, about some missions with these units, but I always like to get things accurate so here's a question : what kind of choppers did the SEALs use in 1985? Huey(version?) or Seahawk?.
DB-ERAUPilot 0 Posted March 14, 2005 The SEALs per se didn't fly anything...there are no SEAL aviation units..the Seawolves in vietnam supported the SEALs and were part of NAVSPECWAR but were flown by non-SEAL air crew members. I think whatever was avaliable would be the way to go..in the 80s there were still alot of Hueys in service along with navy Sea Kings, Sea Sprites, Sea Knights, Super Stallions etc..there are now dedicated special operations aviations units ie the "Nightstalkers" and I believe the navy does have a couple dedicated HCS- squadrons that mainly support the SEALs(gatordev would prolly now more than anyone about this on the board) but I'm pretty sure it comes down to what units are avaliable in theatre at the time... mattmayhem 0 Posted March 14, 2005 Looks really really nice, I cannot wait to see these on my HD. One little token comment though. I would honestly think about giving them buttpacks instead of Rucksacks. In most of the pictures (esspecially from vietnam) and in documentaries that I've seen on the seals (navy seals in action series) they seem to rarely use rucksacks. I geuss their missions tend to be of a fairly short duration and they like to be able to strike hard and fast. The units look really good but I would consider taking off those rucksacks. Another thing that was included in the HYK pack is the individual first aid kit. http://www.actiongear.com/cgi-bin/tame.exe/agcatalog/pics/mfa553a.jpg I've seen this in use by SEALs in many pictures, I believe it is on the webbing of the HYK 1985 units, on either the right or left side. In most of the documentaries the SEALs seem to be wearing these on their webbing. Anyways, looking good, just some innocent suggestions.
miss_cleo 0 Posted March 14, 2005 The SEAL model already has buttpacks as well as rucksacks. i am planning on keeping the rucksacks,I cant see operating behind enemy lines without it. however it is a named selection so if you dont like it you can just change the config. Its hidden on the Black BDU units and im skewing their loadouts for towards CQB-type ops. Jackal, thank you for your kind words. I am not sure what weapons pack i am going to use for these units yet.. I am still waiting to hear back from laser about using his models for the XMs/653s. I guess it depends on that. If I can get permission to use the models then i will release the XMs and such as a separate PBO of US 80's era weapons. I would eventually like to add non-SEAL weapons like an M-16A1 with 30 rd magazine and birdcage flash hider, M-3 greasegun(for armored crews), 1911a1, early style MP-5,M-67 recoiless rifle, and M-220 "Flash".
