gandalf the white 0 Posted February 25, 2005 In a nutshell: Next monday i'm going to have a talk (for my class), and what am I going to talk about? modders! how to make models that gets used in today's military training from nothing but a few pictures and dry sand! I'll force the class to understand it, but to make it a *little* bit easier on them to understand it I need models, WIP, ranging from the blueprints, blueprints layed out in a 3D program, to the hull, the stuff that needs to be done to make it work, and the work that needs to be done to make it work great. I will accept anything, but a rather common model should be welcome, everybody has seen an abrams, everybody has seen a Chinook or Apache. If people like King Homer have saved pictures of their work being made, please link me to it! I have more then enough (844) pictures of Flashpoint Photography, so a full working model wont be a problem. Oh, if anybody has a diffrent subject for a talk, PLEASE tell me . I cannot think of anything intresting, other then the thing I mentioned above: wich I can make intresting .
iNeo 0 Posted February 25, 2005 The word you're looking for is speech Anything within politics (for example European immigration of Muslims, hot topic) and ethics (abortion etc) is pretty easy to talk about.
nSe7eN 0 Posted February 25, 2005 Anything but politics, that’s boring unless the issue was really important or you gonna hear ZzZzZz! Choose something different, scientific issues brings attention, for example the climate change topic that been created by someone here many helpful inputs there thats gonna help you! Good luck! Yeah all those topics are good enough to get the whole class arguing , conservatives vs liberals and in the meanwhile you get to slip away from it all , end of class
der bastler 0 Posted February 25, 2005 Oh, if anybody has a diffrent subject for a talk, PLEASE tell me . I cannot think of anything intresting, other then the thing I mentioned above: wich I can make intresting . How about "Modern warfare" using example missions in OFP? Your classmates can participate over LAN... I can hear the teacher... "Oh no, 2 is down!" All jokes aside... subject can be chosen freely? What's that class about? JdB 151 Posted February 26, 2005 Please note that he will not have any computer available during the speech (or any other way of visually presenting stuff for that matter). Education in Holland is getting worse by the day
GoOB 0 Posted February 26, 2005 Pick a typically boring topic, and make it interesting to the people that are going to listen to you. Like, washingmachines, detergent or whatever. The important thing is HOW you make a speech, not about what you decide to ultimatley make the speech about
blackdog~ 0 Posted February 26, 2005 Make it about cheese pizza.

Oh yeah, everyone is a millionaire (laptop prices are absurd) And laptops don't have a screen large enough. Better to use a projector, but these are also very expensive, and schools like the one Gandalf is in rarely have more then one (and that one is treasured, in other words only used to inform parents etc ). cozza 24 Posted February 26, 2005 use a paper and pen and use a over head projector or use a black/white board.
MSpencer 0 Posted February 26, 2005 We've got tons of projectors (most teachers have overheads if they need them, like math teachers, while others hook up to computers) but 90% of them have been dropped and constantly screw up.
EiZei 0 Posted February 26, 2005 Almost all of my high school's classes have computer operated projectors (no need for transparent plastic pieces or whatever they are called in english ) that have direct vga connectors and they call our education budget small. gandalf the white 0 Posted March 3, 2005 I got a 8.5 out of 10 I would like to thank the following persons: the DKM crew, for their Challenger II model (I opened it in O2 to show the steps of modelmaking) the guy that made a Merlin MK. 1, the picture (kinda thesame as in Gordon's sig) also helped. Lt Hunter, for supplying pictures and models. Andry Serkins (actor of Gollum, I used some pictures for a explenation on motion capture) the Combat Photographer that made pictures of a Challenger II on a "rainy day" Hicks (Crymod forums) for helping me out with the motioncapture bit. I never could have imagined my class would be impressed, but they were! One asked me if I could model, I said yes (I can model, I can make everything you want! just dont ask me how long it'l take me ).One asked me if I was in a mod (I had to explain what a modification was then), and said I worked in a mod as a "scenario writer" , THEY EVEN ASKED ME WHAT MISSIONS I MADE!! The only one who wasn't impressed was the guy next to me, had talked about scale models and got a 8 woohoo! *dances*
walker 0 Posted March 4, 2005 Hi gandalf the white Well done and congratulations in your presentation good to hear you got a good mark. By the way the proper spelling is Andy Serkis I climbed with him few times at the Castle Climbing Center in London where I worked. I remember when he became a member he put down Actor as his profession when I took his details for registration and mentioned he was going to work on a film in NZ. I never guessed what it was. He used his climbing skills in the film, I used to show him boulder problems when I was in my off time. I seem to remeber he also used to go to Circus Space (Circus training college in London) Keep up the work on modding for University there are several courses now in computer games and VR. Kind Regards Walker
