mapfact.net releases: barracks v1.5

Today, mapfact.net proudly announces, that the NEW BARRACKS by JörgF. are available.

JörgF., who improved his knowledge about OFP addon making a lot, made many changes to better the performance of the barracks.

For example he reduced the polycount of his wires greatly. they have less polys than BIS' wires do.

Together with T.S.C. Plage he developed a bunch of new objects, like a plane hangar, a radar tower, an air control building and a guard house.

The new version is 100% compatible with the old one.

"Together" with me is way to much honor. I simply told him what I would like to see and he said possible or not. But he also came up with some own ideas which are surely a great addition for any island-creator and mission-maker.

For example there's this huge aircraft-hangar with animated "folding" doors which are controlled from a box inside the hangar.

And this is not the only awesome "object" in this addon!

DL'ing as soon as I get back from school. That hanger looks extremely nice and could be a very nice replacement for BIS hangers on Mapfact Nogova (?).

No, it's more then double in size so no direct replacement is possible...but maybe you'll find one on the island, yes. wink_o.gif

Btw, there's also another small concrete shelter in two color-versions included in this addon that's also quite usefull. This one has more the size of the Res-hangar.

/edit: Ok, here's a list of the new "objects" I can remember...

- huge aircraft-hangar (animated doors)

- small aircraft-shelter (two color-versions, animated doors)

- new "military style" radartower (animated radar)

- new guardbuildings

- pier (20x20m concrete)

- lamps/lanterns (more realistic lights)

- fences, gates and barrier (diffrent versions, some with animated doors and gates)

- signs (Nogova related "commercial" signs, some with working light)

- shed/barn (two versions)

- ...

As mentioned already all existing objects have been also reworked for better performance and are 100% compatible to the older version(s).

Just checked this out, and what can I say, fantastic work.

It all fits together so well, everything just looks natural as if it was meant to be.

hm, i can't select the objects from the object bar in the editor! what's wrong? i have the baracken.pbo in my ofp addon folder like the old one beofre, but it doesnt work!

No clue, for me it works coorectly. I can select each object from "Baracken\ ...".

@ Monkey:

You mean the interior of the barracks and other buildings? Yeah, it disappears after a very short distance but this is wanted to save performance. You normally won't notice it during normal gameplay!

@MLF: maybe you have set your settings too high that ofp decides too early to switch to the next LOD.

Excellent addon! I love that 'hidden' door in the wire fence! biggrin_o.gif It will be great for sneaking inside the base.

Edit: Just checked it out, great update indeed. One gripe, though, you badly need to fix the lighting (sharp&smooth edges!).

They are configured as CfgNonAIVehicles, therefore they are not placeable in Mission Editor, they WRP-placeable only.

I think that is wanted, the new lamps will react to daytime, while the editorplaceables always are just campfires one may lit rock.gif
