UsMarine408 0 Posted December 21, 2004 Why is it that everyone makes brit royal marines and pays attention to the brits sas why no SBS?
da12thMonkey 1943 Posted December 21, 2004 They just look like any other British soldier but kitted out with M16s etc. UKF's RMCs make a perfectly good stand in if you remove their helmets and berets.
stevevcb 3 Posted January 12, 2005 Step by step guide to making SBS (or SAS, for that matter): 1. Take UKF DPM Pack v1.1 2. Place a DPM rifleman with assault vest 3. Set him to wear a bush hat, or no hat at all 4. Give him an Armalite Job's a good 'un.
R0adki11 3949 Posted January 12, 2005 or as he said but mix with m16s or what either you think is appropiate for the mission in hand. Philcommando made sum SAS in assualt uniforms to go with his embassy building.
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 12, 2005 ever seen the COC-combar diver?? This guy is also SBS. But if you mean the SBS in land operations, than I guess there aren't really any (except for falklands-mod). SBS on land are indeed very simular to normal troops. They are just better trained and use booniehats. In case of the brits they use different weapons. I believe they use the diemace C8 these days, but I'm not sure. And in the desert they will probably use those shemaghs (spelling?) most of time, like almost every other soldier and SF soldier out there.
edejl 0 Posted January 12, 2005 I know there are SAS but they are just standard soldiers in OFP, someone needs to make them and show how good they really are. They're the best in the world and they do everything and anything. That needs to be shown by an add on. They are not just standard soldiers. There needs to be a way to make them better in the game! stevevcb 3 Posted January 12, 2005 UKF are probably working on SAS and SBS. Iunno.

Jonny_2LI 0 Posted January 12, 2005 They wear the same kit as all british soldiers otherwise there would be no point them being all sneaky beaky like, if they were the only soldiers who wore windproof smocks, everytime you see a squaddie with a windy on, you'd know he was SBS. So what kooky said about chucking a guy down, giving him an armalite and chucking his beret is correct. I mean do only the SAS wear SAS windproof smocks? if they do they're everywhere. Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Well it is the biggest regiment in the british army
UKFMav 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Remember guys! SBS NEVER wear helmets and ALWAYS wear boonies or no hat at all.. The reason that you've not seen much like this from UKF is that in reality, there is no difference in the kit, save for black kit. You want SBS? They'll be whatever you want. During boarding operations they do wear helmets. Ballistic or non-ballistic, but they do wear them.
somebloke 0 Posted January 12, 2005 I think Mav would know, since he's an ex-para.
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 12, 2005 Guess I also know, since SBS is also a part of the Dutch Marines (under war they become art of the british SBS). I worked in the Dutch Navy for half a year and talked to lot of people (including Marines, even one from the BBE) and I actually was in Den Helder watching on the pier while a large international CT training was going on with shipboardings and shit like that (including the dutch SBS and units from all over the world). During boardings they do wear helmets. If it's an heliborn assault they seem to prefer a type of ballistic helmet. If they attack from the water (with combat divers ect) they use protec-type non-ballistic helmets mostly. But MAV wasn't really wrong, since he meant SBS forces on land and not during sea-operations. That's also the reason for my smily in my previous post.
Keller_777 0 Posted January 13, 2005 Well, if the Falklands would be jenerous enought to release a silenced smg. for the UK forces, we could have better SAS or SBS or whatever...
somebloke 0 Posted January 13, 2005 That's also the reason for my smily in my previous post. Ah, i see, misunderstanding. Why don't you just follow the step-by-step guide and stick some addon mp5s on 'em.
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 13, 2005 As I said; for land recon operations the C8 is more likely (instead of the MP5). A good C8 is included in our LLW-mod diemace weapon addon (click my sig to get to the LLW-site)
Lt_Phoenix 0 Posted January 13, 2005 MLV mod (Campana de Malvinas) released both SBS and sterling SMG's a while back. Unfortunately they are on the wrong side (East), but thats easily fixed with a bit of config editing
somebloke 0 Posted January 13, 2005 Yes, but then they're SBS from 1982....
mattmayhem 0 Posted January 13, 2005 The game does take place in the 80s... . I re-configured the SAS and SBS in that pack for personal use aswell, the SBS are in some sort of black uniform so they rarely see use from me. The SAS are armed with M16, M203, L4 Bren, L4 sniper, Browning 9mm and I gave them the UKF GPMG.
UKFMav 0 Posted January 13, 2005 I was actually being sarcastic when i said, "SBS NEVER wear helmets and ALWAYS wear boonies or no hat at all.." --EDIT-- At the end of the day, the kit that the SBS (and SAS) would wear is totally down to the job in hand. IF it's needed, it'll be taken. So one for anybody wanting SBS or SAS, just mess with them to suit the mission, it really is that simple.
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 13, 2005 I think UKMAV is right; if you want SBS, just use the UKF units and give them other weapons. But it would be cool for the missionmaker-n00bs to have some included in the editor. It would alo be nice to have some with watchcaps, balaclava's (but still wearing dpm) ect for some raid missions. Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted January 13, 2005 For the balaclava's you're right; this can ba done with a facepack. But the solution by egde (edge res addon) is much nicer; a fully modelled balaclava. It looks much smoother. And a watchcap is a bit difficult to do with a face-pack
