llauma 0 Posted January 6, 2005 one thing to remember, is that no face is symetrical, so try to allow for mapping head on rather than a 50/50 split along the nose. Â This way you could quickly get a ton of nice reference, just by taking pictures of people. might be nice actually to get all the forum regulars to send in picys, then we can shoot each other to our hearts content. beats flaming! It's impossible to make a head model that would fit all faces so the best you can do is making it symetrical to fit the most textures. The texture is mirrored which gives it a symetrical look but the mapping won't mirror the side textures as it currently does in OFP. With the new type of face textures (VBS style) you can do asymetrical camo paintings ect. The project is much bigger than it first appears.. I need to create lots of new textures and that means that many of the old OFP faces won't be re-used because of their bad quality. Compatibility between people using the old heads and the new one will need to be solved. The new standard face textures will work fine but custom faces will cause problems if people are using different versions. So if you join a server where everyone is using the new heads while you have the old ones all custom faces will be mapped wrong for you and the others will see your custom face wrong. Everything will take some time to complete but mods might be able to use them much sooner. They don't have to care about the compatibility problems as everyone playing the mod needs to download the mod. I will try to complete a small preview pack using HYK's infantry or some other nice units for you to use in screenshots for the combat photography thread. xnodunitx 0 Posted January 6, 2005 ofp was released public first then as a sim You'r talking about VBS1?
Planck 1 Posted January 6, 2005 Operation Flashpoint was definitely released first as a combat simulation game before VBS1 was ever thought about. Nice looking heads, I'll need to keep an eye on this one. Will you be doing female textures as well? Planck
MrZig 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Amazing textures man! Very well done!
llauma 0 Posted January 7, 2005 Nice looking heads, I'll need to keep an eye on this one. Will you be doing female textures as well? Planck Not to start with and Nephilim is has already finished her female model with a new head so it doesn't feel like the most urgent thing to do. Female textures on this head wouldn't look that good. I could imagine it looking something like the east german female athletes in the 80's did.
nephilim 0 Posted January 7, 2005 lol hehe yeah i´ve compelted the female and male base model i just correct a part on the cheeks.. but i lack of textures....
stanley 0 Posted January 17, 2005 BTW, i have a question: where exactly (in what folder) the face model in OFP is situated? And textures for it? P.S. I mean simple BIS face model.
stanley 0 Posted January 20, 2005 LIauma, could you explain, how will you implement new head model for all units in OFP? I understand, that it is needed to replace file called hlavaw.p3d in Data3D.pbo with new one with the same name; copy specific new head textures into the Data.pbo; point the path to the new textures in config.cpp (CfgFaces, CfgWorlds etc.). And what next? I have tride to experement with some head-model, different from original, and with specific textures for it, and I reached the correct face image only in the player customization menu. In the same game all units still use old-model face, but with new textures, which are reflected on them totally incorrectly. Actually, how to make all units to use the new head-model? Maybe, I missed something with file-replacing or during the editing config.cpp?

stanley 0 Posted January 22, 2005 Liauma I have one more question. For example, I have changed old head model on the unit with the new one. But there is one problem: that new head seems to fall down approximately to the level of the soldier's knees... (its in-game. In the Buldozer everything looks perfectly). Could you tell me, how to deal with this problem?
nephilim 0 Posted January 22, 2005 u need to make proper selections but dont spam the thread with questions like these either search or pm llauma or me or whoever is capable of doing soldiers

AntipopAU 3 Posted December 16, 2005 What's going on with these heads?
llauma 0 Posted December 16, 2005 What's going on with these heads? Â This... I've been quite busy but here a pic of some random testing. I'm think I've reach a point where I can't do much more to the model, so I'll do a final mapping the coming days. You won't probably hear more about it until some mod/addons maker releases it with their soldier pack. A tip would be to look out for some Polish units. Certain privileges are given to those who have earned them. Edit: And therefor I think that this thread could just as well be closed as most of it is ancient.
