M113 Based ADATS

Recently there were requests for a remake of our M109 ADATS. Currently I am working on the M113 Based system, and I would like to know how much interrest there is in this. Also if anyone has any pictures or info which could be useful (Google only gets you so far ) I would appreiciate it, as I want it to be as authentic as is possible. Some Background to the vehicle:

Below are some Alpha pictures, the textures are not final and the tracks and roadwheels will all be replaced. You can still see some remaining old textures from the original ADATS turret.

If you would like to see this system mounted to the other vehicles it is currently seen on, I am open to suggestions. At the moment I have only seen Canadian M113 versions, but if there is evidence of US vehicles using it then I will be more than happy to do a NATO paint scheme. As usual, a desert version will be included. I hope to get most features scripted, revolving radar, missile tubes loose their caps when fired, smoke, etc etc.

The US has a handfull of these units as they are still undergoing testing, theses are used mostly by Canada, Japan, and few of the South Asain contries that use just about everything they can get their hands on. The Us mililtary are kinda moaning because its based on the M113 chassis they are trying so hard to phase out. Talks of placing it on the bradely chassis has been going on for some time..

I've seen pictures in books of the ADATS system being mounted on an M2 Bradley chasis

Yes, every feature which we have so far is going to be put into it if I have my way. The main problem is that the members who can animate and script are currently busy with real life, so it may be some time until the realease.

Those projects are still in the works, just being done by other members. I cannot say when they will be released, I have no idea, but we are not working to any schedule.

Why not build the US Army's Avenger or SLAMRAMM air defense systems? Neither piece of hardware is in the OFP community and both could fill a niche in "west" ADA.

Sorry to dig up an old topic, but a quick update:

I have updated the model and textures. It is quite a low poly model (though I must say, it is is accurate as I can get it) so there is a chance I will make the rear poor openable, with the interior modeled. Now has number plates and other markings.

A list of the features I hope (but cannot promise) will be added are:

Smoke dischargers

openable rear door

rotating radar

Caps of the missle tubes fly off and tubes are hollow

suspension scripts

proximity fuzed missiles in AA role

Map inside the commander's position (as in our latest releases)

I am also looking into getting a radar screen inside the vehicle, so all aircraft are displayed. I'm not sure how possible this is yet, so it probably won't happen.

Also, there is a type of radar trailer which the ADATS is accompanied by. Although the ADATS is a self contained system, if I choose to make this trailer, may be possible that it extends the radar range of the ADATS, in the same way as the uplink group feature of the Tunguska.

There is a pack being evaluated which allows both the Challenger 2 and the Black Eagle to be used against RHS and Sig tanks, by different configs based on "real" values.

I cannot even begin to speculate when that will be out.

As has been raised in other threads, artic cammo is desirable at this time, but a lot of countries such as the US and, I am informed also Canada, do not use specific colour schemes on their vehicles for this time of year or conditions. Unfortunatly that means the above scheme is not actually used by any Canadian unit in any great numbers.

To this end I have decided it would be unrealistic of me, as well as against DKM's policies of addon making, to continue with a vehicle which essentially does not and probably will not exist. While I personally beleive the Snow cammo looks pretty cool, if it is not used it is not authentic.. there would have to be MASSIVE support to warrant work to be continued on this.

I also realise that there is not a huge amount of interrest in this project, from the number of topic views/pages/posts. I expect this is because the vehicle is fairly well unknown, being Canadian and not being featured in movies or computer games (it is no coincidence the units which have are the most popular practically have their own shows...thank you black hawk down... ) or people just think it sucks   

Below are pictures of the only solution in getting an M113 ADATS in canadian service into a Snow environment it does not look totally out of place in.

After this project I will be looking to mount the system on other chassis, in particular an M2A2.
