drow 0 Posted June 10, 2004 i got the 5.1 surround dealy, (which i recommend) the bass sub woofer really woofs, i FEEL air pound out of it whenever an explosion goes off etc. But, I also have professional studio headphones because i make music as well, and man, when i make missions with sounds and shit i always like to test them out on the headphones to get the full impact. My surround sound setup doesnt seem to play sounds that are directly in front of you (when EAX or whatever it is is hooked up), or at least they are very quiet, you can hear the stuff from the sides fine tho, this is a disappointment as i am forced to switch it off of EAX compatible and just use the speakers as one bigass mono system,,, Â but the sub bass is a nice addition. (tho my neighbours below me do think im at war 24 hours a day... but hey, i am :P) PS - im actually very suprised that so many of u use headphones, though most of them are probably not the greatest quality, its much cheaper to get pro headphones than a pro speaker setup. Â pro headphones are the big ones, that cover your whole ear. example but youll need to shop around to get some that can withstand high & low frequencies without "blowing", and then rattling all the time. shinRaiden 0 Posted June 11, 2004 I have two sets of headphones. One is a nice sony studio set that wears well, very good fidelity. The other is the Zalman beast: 5.1 headphones 3-plug octopus cable on it. Goods: 6 speakers, full effects. Bads: Major clamping pressure, round ear pads, funky surround eq settings required for 6 speakers that close, huge air pressure from 6 speakers. Bottom line: Worth $50? Yeah, audio is good, technophile factor is a plus.
pitufo 0 Posted June 11, 2004 I wear headphones when my GF's around (she hates OPF sounds) (i know, i should dump her lol), but i prefer my 70$ yamaha 3 speaker set just because i can get those bass booms when something explodes. Mind you, my headphones are worth about 10$... Perhaps I should go shopping for some good headphones.....

Never heard of a....headphones....dude, like blast speakers up loud and nice but not too loud and its all cool, but if you play MP and you have people chatting to you man, I switch to headphones w/ Microphone attached  And drow, those are headphones that are like the best in the world....I have sony ones though, big ass ones they are
raedor 8 Posted June 11, 2004 i bought a headset for mp sessions. i need my hands on the mouse and keyboard and not to hold the mic... but usually (when i'm not playing ofp in mp) i use my speakers.
Homefry 0 Posted June 12, 2004 I use normal speakers with a subwoofer, because my comp is on the floor, and the headphone cords dont quite make it all the way (damn you Dell). So usually just speakers, but if I ever bring the computer closer to the monitor, I'll use headphones without hesitation.
Nemesis6 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Headphones only. I got really tired of dealing with Subwoofers. I think my life is actually better now... :-)
Pathy 0 Posted June 12, 2004 I have a beautifull 5.1 sound system, i am not gonna give up having my floor shake and windows crack as shells land near by for headphones
Jinef 2 Posted June 12, 2004 I use both, TS running on headphones off onboard soundcard and creative audigy pumping into 5.1 surround.
sergeant rock 3 Posted June 14, 2004 Ingame Sounds:I use Creative Labs 6.1 Surround with EAX enabled plugged into an Audigy 2. Voice Comm:I use a Logitech USB headset plugged into front USB port. This combination works great, even if you are in a chopper or armor with loud engine noise, you can still communicate on TeamSpeak or Ventrilo with ease. mr reality 0 Posted June 14, 2004 Ingame Sounds:I use Creative Labs 6.1 Surround with EAX enabled plugged into an Audigy 2. Same here..It sounds awsome..I used to use headphones but i usually spent way too many hours playin that the inside of my ears would sweat.Which would cause me to have headaches
