4 IN 1 0 Posted June 5, 2004 acturally i think the reflex dont need to be so clear, as the "shinily" feeling doesnt fit into the general OFP gfx also it is not quite needed in combat, so it would be great if player could choose to enabling/disabling it for screenshot/smoother gameplay (and plz do something for ATi users)
pajama 0 Posted June 5, 2004 Hmmm... Anybody up for some paypal donation to Kegety?
Tomcat_CDM 0 Posted June 5, 2004 I guess this DLL, modifies (directly or inderectly it's the same) the OFP engine and that is illegal as OFP Licence contract says... So, i guess BIS should give an agree (by write) to be released. Hopefully (for all of us) i'm wrong... but this says my Limited Software License Agreement. "You Shall Not: Reverse engineer, derive source code, modify, decompile, disasemble, or create derivative works of the Program, in whole or in part. "
tak 0 Posted June 5, 2004 Kegetys, How 'bout progress? We, OFP lover want it ASAP! I think this amazin' work knocked off BIS You are the best of the best!
Taconic 0 Posted June 5, 2004 I guess this DLL, modifies (directly or inderectly it's the same) the OFP engine and that is illegal as OFP Licence contract says... They're not doing anything to the engine. This is not in the least bit illegal. This is something completely external to the game that would have to be running in the background while you play the game if you wanted to see the benefits of it (unless I'm way off base in guessing how it works.) Things of this nature exist for dozens of games (example) There shouldn't be any question about the legality of it and nobody is violating the EULA by creating or using something of this nature since they aren't actually altering any game code (AFIAK, no developer has ever taken issue with something like this outside of the realm of cheats, but even then they probably wouldn't have a huge amount of legal ground to stand on.) That said, I think that this is great. Kegetys has pushed the bounds of OFP since the beginning, so I'm not at all surprised to see Yet Another Thing to Look Forward To coming from his driection. The water alone is awesome, but something like this could go far beyond just water in the future because, like Kegetys said: Quote[/b] ]In theory anything "graphical" is possible
nubbin 0 Posted June 5, 2004 Tomcat, Are you the resident "tattle tale"? Or are you now in law school for corporate license enforcement. If BIS has a problem with it, I am sure they will voice their concerns directly to Keg. Do you think you will get special treatment for attempting to interpret the license agreement for them? Sorry for my rant. I don't want this thread to degenerate into a debate, I just gt tired of these forum legal experts that are pervasive throughout the internet.. Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 5, 2004 I just saw the demo video, and at first I didn't believe it was actually OFP. But when I saw the boat with the guy in it, I realized it was in fact OFP...and then I wet myself. This is trully amazing work, yet another ground-breaking introduction from a master that shows anything can be possible with the right mind to figure it out. I can understand that it is still a work in progress, and there are still probably a few things to work out before any release, even beta. But the fact it has gotten this far and is in-game is breathtaking to see. One thing I am a little curious about...what the hell is a wallhack? I have seen people cheat online in MP games with obvious cheats or hacks (such as 5T trucks flying in formation in the air, or causing a spawn of about a dozen M1 tanks). And I have seen people that I assumed were cheating, but couldn't prove it (might have been bad lag, but not likely). But I have never heard of this "wallhack", and am wondering if someone could explain it to me in a PM so I know what to look for. I try to stay away from servers with players using cheats and hacks, takes away from the game. Sorry for this being off-topic in a sense, so if someone can explain it, PM me instead of using up this thread. Thanks. And again, great work Kegetys, you never stop amazing me with your work. BraTTy 0 Posted June 5, 2004 A wallhack would allow walls invinsible (best use) so you can see the enemy and he can't see you (cause he still sees walls) Kegety's great stuff !!! As usual The reflections are nice ,but this leads me to something else....OFP ingame photography is possible!!!
Gollum1 0 Posted June 5, 2004 Actually you don't need wallhacks (of the sort where you walk through walls) in OFP, you can do it without cheats, just sprint into a corner. Well, to stop my über1337 cheat advisory, it's too bad that I have an ATI card, and an old one at that. Good thing that you aren't near water all the time. SpeedyDonkey 0 Posted June 5, 2004 Any particular reason why it preformes worse on radeon based cards?
Nathanz 0 Posted June 5, 2004 I know that on radeon cards (or the latest one atleast) the midmap settings is higher than on nvidias...
Gollum1 0 Posted June 5, 2004 Any particular reason why it preformes worse on radeon based cards? The reflections, with full settings (terrain & objects reflected) are somewhat "heavy", especially on Radeon based cards which seem to dislike frequent switches in render targets. BraTTy 0 Posted June 5, 2004 The reflections are nice ,but this leads me to something else....OFP ingame photography is possible!!! Uh ? I'm not following ?? In game photography, like someone was talking about a news chopper. You could take a screenshot and prolly transpose it on a tv screen inside OFP. Spy camera and the like, you could have ingame tv screens to monitor areas of the map and such. Can have rear view mirrors even
Bullz_eye_on_my_back 0 Posted June 5, 2004 wow it looks verrryyy sweet.... great great work KEG!!!! good point mr. bratty!!!! if that happened..then i would def update all of my security camera addons I made a lonnng time ago, especially a lot more user friendly since i know more scripting techniques ;)

Well, to stop my über1337 cheat advisory, it's too bad that I have an ATI card, and an old one at that. Good thing that you aren't near water all the time. So from what I understand, a "wallhack" does not remove the walls, it just makes them invisible to the player using the hack? But those walls are technically still there, and would still stop a bullet? I remember being told, although I can't seem to find it in the readme, that the BAS Delta/Rangers use something like this with their smoke grenades, causing the AI to no longer see through smoke. Something about placing an invisible object at the smoke so AI things they are looking at a building-type object, but all players see nothing. Is this maybe the same technique used? And also, if the wall is only made invisible but is still a solid object, what retard would actually even want to use that kind of cheat? As far as sprinting into a corner, this happens on my pc at times. I have bad issue of clipping through walls, and not just corners but in the middle of them. Really sucks ass when you are trying to hide inside a house surrounded by enemy, and all of a sudden you clip through it and are laying outside surrounded by a bunch of baddies! Any way to fix this crap?

Any way to fix this crap? Wallhacks don't make walls invisible. They make them transparent. A person running a wallhack in something like CS can see where anybody else is at any given moment regardless of where they are on the level since their line of sight isn't blocked. Needless to say, wallhacks would be useless in OFP since 99.9% of combat takes place in the open, anyway.
orson 0 Posted June 5, 2004 Indeed , i think the only usefull hack for OFP would be a distance hack , to remove the fog etc while in MP games and maybe one that drew a big line to you nearest enemys (or one that creates a beautiful water reflection effect like Kegy's )
LightBringer 0 Posted June 5, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Gollum1 Posted on June 05 2004,01:50-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any way to fix this crap? Yeah... you could rework the complete house system for OFP with a 3d editor, to correct those stupid clipping problems, what the guys at BIS didn't noticed. And of course, when you finished, you should also retexture those old houses, to use them in our new islands... ;) Oh... And don't forget to release them as a nice addon, called: fixed_houses.pbo

gwg_viper 0 Posted June 5, 2004 I wish u lot would stop talikng about cheats, and ilegal stuff, and spend ur time encouraging kegetys and feersum, to finish this great work they are doing. n1 keg & feer looks great. Also to the guys moaning about FPS, surely trilinear filtering and the other tweeaks they are adding would make up for this?
Pappy Boyington 0 Posted June 6, 2004 Imagine getting reflective textures for vehicles and helmets?  Man I see a whole new horizone opening up. Yes as long as it doesn’t do a huge hit to fps that would be cool  i can almost gaurentee that fps will be around 2 for normal systems (1.5ghz and lower)
