Ninja_STO 0 Posted June 10, 2004 I think what I was imagining isn't possible, but who knows. I was thinking of only a small section of the surface of the water being "animated", such as blood flowing down part of a river after a heavy battle, or something like that. Maybe it can be done using a flat red "object" that is scripted to move downstream and then go away, not really sure. Would look like to have a similar effect in some of those Nam missions like in an intro or cutscene, or triggered to happen when your unit approaches the area and sees the dead bodies "floating" on the shore. Not really, as reflection texture would not take into account position and direction of face, but would assume it is turned towards sky at height of sea level. Generalized mirror algorithm would be hideously slow, as every face would have to be rendered once for every reflecting face, and as rendering flow cannot be altered, GPU state changes and reading back and locking vertex data would kill even most powerful GPU Actually performance hit from constantly switching render target is lot harder on newer hardware, since optimization data and caching is lost with every state change. Â I've played it about 20 to 30 times, now, probably. Â Is the song Keg's own composition, or does someone know the name of it and where it originates? Requests: Â Night time, showing man-made lights reflecting, including flares, jet afterburners, fighter JET ECM, explosions, missiles, etc. and how it looks through night vision. Doesn't sound as relaxing, but I wanna see how these things might look if and when this is released.
