New water textures

I could have either posted this here or in the High res stars thread cos it's the same problem. I am using PBO Decrypter v1.5 and I have gotten a 'Range check error.' twice when trying to unpack data3d.pbo. mad_o.gif . I have successfully updated data.pbo with the new water and moon but keep getting this error with data3d.pbo rock.gif

edit: I think both times the error happened on 'update.txt' in data3d.pbo

edit 2: After further thought I should have posted this in the High res stars thread. tounge_o.gif

wow  the SEA WATER textures look GREAT ... especially with the updated version without the lines smile_o.gif

the clean watre looks very good too... but for that we would nedd a tropical island like those from FarCry heheh.

hehe,yes first one is not so useful on Nogova,winter islands,... wink_o.gif but for tropical island it´s good.

I love these new textures for the water but agree that the first ones would only look good in a tropical climate but the other ones are great.

I was wondering if it was possible to create a transparent texture for water (using alphas?)? This would be so cool.

Tropical water is really great, but for normal water i prefer Silesian one. Anyway, good job!

for those who get this error. I got it too

I depbo ed  the \Res\Dta\Hwtl\Data3d.pbo

it worked with that ingame when only using this data3d.pbo (for me). don't ask me if it works in MP like that.

after trying out these new textures, i dont see why i have to goto the beach anymore to enjoy a nice ocean view tounge_o.gif .

for those who get this error. I got it too

I used textview to change the format from .pac to .tga, then use photoshop to resize to 512x512, then used textview to convert back into .pac files.

i use Pantool to view them, but my PSP8 wont open this format :\

with PANtool you can view the needed texture, then click in File-Save As, then where it says 'Save as type' drop the list down and select TGA. wink_o.gif

i don see .tga in textview , only .pac , .paa and all files

that only thing what i see

i think something mess up , i don what ?

@Soul Catcher, I've just wanted to say that I'm interested in getting these tropical remakes too. As soon as you get all the permissions, please release it to public. smile_o.gif

BTW. Are you using the Ilo-Ilo palm trees and objects or another ones? rock.gif

@eddyD, just select *.* and manually type .tga extension at the end of filename.

As several ppl have showed an interest in the set of islands i have re-done i have decided that

I'm gonna start a thread in Addons&Mods:discussion (that way i'll stop hijacking this thread) within the next 48 hours it'll be called "BSF STUDIOS Islands", i'll start posting some screenshots of all the islands i've re-done whilst i try and track down the original authors for permission to release them.

AG Smith i'm particuarly interested in speaking with you further as i have been using just about all of your addons (City, Harbour & Industrial kits) and have some questions regarding some of your buildings (top work by the way).

AT LAST!!! i modified a bit kegetys install*bat and made these textures work!!!  biggrin_o.gif  smile_o.gif  tounge_o.gif  blues.gif

BTW, What is the sky on first screen?

Txs, i coverted the .pac into .tga, resized them in PSP8, saved and now my texview crashes when i try to convert these .tga into .pac again, and PanTool also doesnt open the .tga saying "floating division point by zero" crazy_o.gif

can anyone help me out plz ? I wouldnt push this matter further , but its just that i think this is the best sea ever released in ofp and im sort of desperate to have it running with no lag at all

txs for your support Hit_Sqd_Maximus, but i finally solved this!

my method was resizing the .tga in psp8 and saving as .jpg, then with texview i coverted to .paa, manualy changed file name to.pac and it works very well, thanks for the help anyway smile_o.gif

hm ... what about  ROUGH sea.   that gives the  effect of moving waves.  I mean ROUGH ones...

I don't think this is possible, but I will ask anyway. Is it possible to get REAL waves in the game? Like when your in a boat the boat goes up and down, etc.

IMHO, the sea gets more rough when you introduce bad weather, but it only results in sea level change, not in separate waves
