Hitman contracts

Recommended Posts

This is imo the best stealth/action game and comes out this Tuesday in the U.S. for those who aren't familar w/ the series, heres a summery

you play as a hitman known only as "47" who works for a organization called the Agency that carries out assassinations for profit against high-profile people like political figures, crime bosses, wealthy, military figures, and what not. game play is sorta like Spliter Cell, your supposed to avoid direct conflict but you can run around like a pshyco-path shooting everybody if you choose so but it isn't reconmended. instead you find a lone body guard and kill, drag his corpse to a closet or someplace where nobody will find it, take his cloths and use them as a disguise or sometimes the option will be available for you to use a sniper rifle to plug your target from a distance. weapons include anything like knives, a fiber-wire which is used to strangle and garret enemies, pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles, and off-hand weapons used in traps like carbombs and poison. basicly this is the kinda game for anybody who liked the movies The Profesional, or Kill Bill.

Official site

one note about the site, you may just use the U.S. link on the main page, they mostly have new updates there first.

Sounds unrealistic.

I mean killing gaurds and stealing their uniforms??

More like movie fantasy.

Yep, I agree completely, but since when is that a bad thing?

Its not like Max Payne 2 was realistic, but I liked it...

Oh well, this game looks good, I liked the demo for #2, there was always more then one way to finish the mission, whether its a stealty approach or the run-in-shooting way.

But this still better be able to run on my Geforce2 MX crazy_o.gif

The axe was my weapon of choice in Hitman 2. Contracts looks pretty good. It'll involve upgrading my computer though. crazy_o.gif

The piano wire seemed to be my friend in the second hit man. Though, it didn't help against those deadly ninja assassins near the end of the game.

it's unrealistic unless you consider that you have to choose a uniform from a guard, that:

1. was not shot but put to sleep

2. Similar hight, built

3. no other guard seen you

So if you consider certain circumstances it is possible and realistic

Hope this will run on my computer, then again Hitman 2 ran surprisingly fast on Athlon 700/256MB/GF2MX. crazy_o.gif

Who cares if it's unrealistic, there's no game at all that's 'just like in real life'... Not even ofp...

Hitman is a great game...

Oh and if you want to play the game correctly, you aren't supposed to kill a lot of guards, in the end of every mission, only 1 person should be dead and that's your target...

In hitman 2, if you did that you got the SIlent Assassin ranking, that's the best there is...

Hmmm i'm not sure, maybe you can get one more kill and still get that ranking... oh well, fact is you can't complete every mission in the best way when you do dumb stuff...

Also, this game is wonderful, you can walk into the front door of a house, grab your hardballers and shoot everything that moves, greeeeaaat fun.

But you can also sneak around the house, use the back door to get to the kitchen, put poison in your target's food and then sneak away again...

There's sooo many ways to kill someone...

I liked these games and maybe this one'll be good too...

Realistic? Not really, but it is by far the best stealth game if you ask me...

I didn't like Hitman 1 much (terrible controls, very hard) but Hitman 2 was more to my tastes. Stylish, inventive, altough it got a bit too sci-fi, fantasy and shoot-em-up there in some places, like at the Japanese fortress. I say, more hits in urban locations where there are multiple clever solutions, not just sneaking around and loading and saving when you get caught.

There's one thing that bothers me: The presence of the Hitman insignia on damn near everything 47 owns, from his Hardballers to briefcase - For someone whose ability to use stealth and cunning is his livelihood, isn't that a little conspicuous?

Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to the next game. As Gollum1 said, I'm hoping for more urban settings. Too many missions in the previous two games have been Bond/Special Forces sort of stuff - The Columbian Jungle missions from the first game, and to a lesser extent, the Nuristan missions in the second (Although using that .50 cal was awesome)

To me, the Hong Kong missions of the first game are the epitome of Hitman game play.

You didn't have to do that did you? I remember stealing the uniform off of a very short Italian postman in the first mission of the second game, and you have to consider that barcode in the neck of Mr.47 as a "give away factor" also his skin-tone et cetera.

But despite it being unrealistic I love it, and I am really looking forward to Hitman:Contracts.  biggrin_o.gif

EDIT: Oh, and yeah I have to agree with Gollum1. The japanese fortress thing had me almost quit playing due to the "Austin powerness" of the whole thing, I hope they keep the scenery more realistic and simple.

I came in killing a pissing guard and using his suit.

I quite liked it apart from the 'insanely suspucious guards that will quite happily shoot a postman, with no warning, who deviates 2 feet from where they think he should be.' It meant, most of the time, you just had to learn the guards positions and keep retrying, instead of improvising. I also didn't like the third person (which was improved slightly in 2 by allowing first person sometimes, but not enough)

Hitman 1 was really good. Hitman 2 and 3 appers to be a bit "darker" i mean in terms of scenery and so on.

Edit: Yes, more urban maps!

the first game you would get paid for each mission you completed, and could use the money to buy weapons off of a black market. you would also get penalized for pluging a civilian and some of your pay would be deducted they didn't include this concept in the second game for some reason. and you could carry a sniper rifle in a suite case and non of the guards would figure what you were carring, but they didn't include that for some reason in the second one and it was kind of a let down and they didn't put the wound decals in either from the second one and it doesn't look like they are going to be including it in the new one either which isn't too bad because they seem to be upgrading the rag-doll phsyics so maybe now you can use the silenced harballers w/out worring about the corpse doing this mid-air summersault flying 15 feet into the street where all the guards would see it. though funny, it could get annoying when you where trying to get a good rating.

I never really liked the first game, but the second opus has my interest and i like the story that i think can suit a good movie.

Of course, not very realistic because of some situations, but the interest factor is good enough with a lot of replayability and that is all i need to enjoy a videogame.

I like the semi-freedom of choice to complete a goal or a mission, i hope they will keep that and enhance this point for their 3rd game.

The fact that the game run very smoothly on my now old system is another good point for it.

Some of the special cheats mode are very fun , i like to use the "nails ammo" to stick some enemies to the roof by their leg or arm biggrin_o.gif

well i picked up the game on tuesday evening and just finished it and its pretty good. the only complaints i have about it are that the levels seem a tad bit small. since there are only 12 missions total so i was hoping they would be larger. and since they are so small you could rambo your way through the missions rather quickly if you wanted to. but other than that, its still worth the purchase. i wanted to get it for my PC but i couldn't get it working properly so i had to settle w/ the PS2 verion instead which doesn't look that bad. if i had a better TV, i probaly wouldn't notice.
