MrZig 0 Posted April 13, 2004 I just read the whole thing at the bottom of www.flashpoint2.com and it says OFP2 Will include DirectX9, dynamic lighting, dynamic shadows, modern weapons + vehicles, advanced colision detection system ect. This sounds awesome
Nuclear W 0 Posted April 13, 2004 Yep, well be havin some sweet graphics...
Vognsen 0 Posted April 13, 2004 That sounds awesome! I just hope BIS would explain the improved collision detection. I believe dynamic shaows means objects casts shadows on other objects as well?
-)rStrangelove 0 Posted April 13, 2004 Yep. And i hope they add a physics system, like ragdoll fx for the dead. I mean, every game has it yet, so it should be standard for games in 2005.
Shadow NX 1 Posted April 13, 2004 I just read the whole thing at the bottom of www.flashpoint2.com and it saysOFP2 Will include DirectX9, dynamic lighting, dynamic shadows, modern weapons + vehicles, advanced colision detection system ect. This sounds awesome  And? I mean what do you expect from a 2004/5 game, today you have to bring a bit if you wanna sell a lot. Not to forget Pixel shaders are a must too
Acecombat 0 Posted April 13, 2004 I agree with ShadowNX , by the time will be out these things will already be every game by then so its nothing new , OFP2 needs something else too ,but that it already has i guess , freedom to do so much that no game can deliver. Shadow NX 1 Posted April 13, 2004 Yep the game itself is already perfect if the keep the freedom of OFP and fix the stuff bugging atm, like the multiple gunner positions, collision engine...and very important i wanna be able to walk in vehicles... play Joint Operations... awesome if you and a dozent others are in the Back of a Mi-26 firing trough the windows and the open cargo doors...running around in it... Not to forget Pixel shaders are a must too Well, for a game like OperationFlashpoint 2, a HUGE island, dynamic shadows, lighting ect, I think that if they can pull it off it will be HUGE. But think, games that have dynamic lighting/shadows arn't really "BIG" games like OFP. OFP has a huge island, and filling it with advanced collision, DX9, dynamic shadows/lighting.... <drool>
shinRaiden 0 Posted April 13, 2004 OFP currently supports large islands up to 102km...
Dwarden 1125 Posted April 13, 2004 u mean 102x102? i thought limit is 52x52 ... wow this is new to me
shinRaiden 0 Posted April 13, 2004 64 nogova's or everons all on one map... not a typo. Tech demo soon...
llauma 0 Posted April 13, 2004 That sounds awesome! I just hope BIS would explain the improved collision detection.I believe dynamic shaows means objects casts shadows on other objects as well? Just look at the latest xbox screenies.. In one of them you can see a soldiers shadow casted upon a HMMWV. Edit: here it is..

Gollum1 0 Posted April 15, 2004 That's very well spotted, Llauma. Like others said, this will be nothing special when OFP2 comes out...
shadow 6 Posted April 15, 2004 I think OFP2 will be special nomatter what. BIS has a tendency to surprise us in a positive way. Remember all the moaning when "NAM" was reveiled?
Phleep 0 Posted April 16, 2004 I think OFP2 will be special nomatter what. BIS has a tendency to surprise us in a positive way.Remember all the moaning when "NAM" was reveiled? I just hope they didn't dump the Nam scenario because tunnels were too difficult and swapped it with the East Timor scenario the Aussies were making. Tunnels would add so much to the game (sewers, caves, etc.).
NKVD 0 Posted April 16, 2004 if I have to Id buy $600 video card just for OFP:2.. btw, do you think BIS will optimize their game for NVIDIA or ATI ? (I bet NVIDIA! )
WhoCares 0 Posted April 16, 2004 ...btw, do you think BIS will optimize their game for NVIDIA or ATI ? (I bet NVIDIA! Â Â ) My bet is on Microsoft (DirectX10.0c )
Dwarden 1125 Posted April 16, 2004 i seriously hope for OpenGL 2.x support too (so linux / mac users can benefit for OFP2 too) ... i'm pretty sure minimum for OFP2 will be DX8.1 (lot of features can be done in 8.1 they just slower or lower quality) or 9.0 (thus less hassle to optimize for old cards). Nathanz 0 Posted April 16, 2004 Must have PS 3.0 support WITH PS3.0 WITH PS3.0 ------------------------ WITH PS2.0 WITH PS2.0 Theres a huge difference in detail if you look carefully

quicksand 0 Posted April 17, 2004 200 km maps with streaming terrain,directx9 supported, dynamic lighting, pixel shading without more then one loading sequances. Now that`s revolutionary! I`ll pray that OF will have only one loading screen for the whole map cause if it`s any diferrent i.e the whole map is not loaded and it`s splited in areas;that`s gonna destroy Operation Flashpoint. The greatest thing about the game is that you could be fighting a battle in "Petrovice" and others in "Lipany".But the hell with it,I`ll trust BIS on this one...
