m21man 0 Posted April 3, 2004 Quote[/b] ]ODOL Explorer has just gotten new feature, its ODOL -> MLOD converter. Will you include this ODOL ---> MLOD converter in a public release version? Edit - Could you please PM me with the answer if the moderators lock this?
Pathy 0 Posted April 3, 2004 Its not a converter. Its a viewer.
waffendennis 0 Posted April 3, 2004 Releasing the ODOL>MLOD stuff public can get the creator in big problems ( Read the 02>Buldozer Agree ment ) So i suggest keep it a a viewer And btw: Nice tool
Migebuff 0 Posted April 3, 2004 The O2 license agreement doesnt really matter. Maybe he doesnt even have O2, so he never had to agree with that license.

shinRaiden 0 Posted April 3, 2004 I'm not a lawyer, and this is not BIS nor Codemaster's official position. Regarding non-BIS content, the only thing I could find was in the O2 license, this is only an implied inference: Quote[/b] ]Nothing in this Agreement shall change BI Studio's or any of its licensors' ownership rights to their respective intellectual property, including but not limited to the Software. I take that to mean that the rights of 'licensors' (= other users too) to their content / IP shall not be infringed by usage or application of BIS's O2 software. However, in regards to BIS content, they're explicity clear about prohibiting any reverse engineering BIS/Codemasters content in all the EULA's.
Migebuff 0 Posted April 4, 2004 If its illegal to open the BIS models, its also illegal to open the BIS islands. Ban WRPedit, Visitor and WRPtool! If its illegal to decompile the models its also illegal to decompile the BIS PBOs. Ban UnPBO 1.5! If you arent allowed to decrypt the models you are also not allowed to decrypt the config.bin. Lets just ban all editing tools and go back to 1.0.
Pathy 0 Posted April 4, 2004 Mige im pretty sure you dont have a clue about the BIS licensing.....
waffendennis 0 Posted April 4, 2004 The O2 license agreement doesnt really matter. Maybe he doesnt even have O2, so he never had to agree with that license. The 02 license does matter because: Once you install OFP and play it you agreed with the License from OFP. But if you are gonna release the ODOL>MLOD and vice versa tool il suggest you this: Contact Marek about the tool and ask if you may release it.
bn880 5 Posted April 4, 2004 Mige im pretty sure you dont have a clue about the BIS licensing..... Why do you say that, is there a special rule about the models when compared to any other game content?

Look at the image. My definition for tools that can read ODOL and that have a button named "Save MLOD" is ... converter.

andylee054 0 Posted April 5, 2004 If anyone said open others addon and learnning how to make it is stealing. I would say all addon makers are thief already. Because we are stealing the config from BIS whenever we use the class name in config. Also, when you use the same 'Name selections' in models are stealing the copy right too. And OFP will no longer have any addons or MODs in the world. If BIS sue anyone who make addons for OFP, we will destory the CD when we played and get boried. Then we will look for an other new FPS game, right? Publish the tools is not against the BiS, only the one who use others same model or textures as their own. If anyone who can not accept this, please don't use any textures from BIS, and don't write any class name under 'default' again, nor you are breaking the line of copy right too. Then, let's close the community and never release any addons again. If any addon maker don't like others open their addons, please don't release their own addon again. Just keep them stay in their HDD. You know what will be happened, right?
