EricJ 765 Posted April 23, 2005 Well I wouldn't be any better with even the very scant detail that is around. Â So you may just want to post a screenie and let everybody else be the judge. Then again neph will put her two cents in for sure, so spiffy it up

EricJ 765 Posted April 23, 2005 Re-weathering the Flying Bananas, as well as more detail work: I deleted the layers for the scorched one, so if necessary I can burn it up for later on....
EricJ 765 Posted April 23, 2005 And worked on the desert some too, with some prelim weathering on the pod sides: And now to get ***friendlyfire*** some pics...
CanadianTerror 0 Posted April 24, 2005 That's really starting to look quite detailed. Keep up the good work.
EricJ 765 Posted April 24, 2005 More weathering, this time for the Desert one (nothing special, just layer transfer and adjustment):

EricJ 765 Posted April 24, 2005 Something like that, we're planning on releasing a beta SOMETIME, when I don't know, when neph gives the go ahead. Detailing on the Flying Bananas: I still gotta take some time and do the inner pylons and the fuselage section for them. Beta inner airbrake texture, thanks to DanW: Line weathering, an old trick from LOMAC/Flanker 2.51, I used to do it, but brought it back after looking at some skins done for LOMAC:
[aps]gnat 29 Posted April 25, 2005 More work EricJ, less posting .... !!! LOL .. jj ..... they are beautiful machines no doubt.

EricJ 765 Posted April 25, 2005 Gnat @ April 25 2005,06:20)]More work EricJ, less posting .... !!! LOL .. jj ..... they are beautiful machines no doubt. Hehe, yeah, or else this topic would die Did some work on the landing gear: Aaaaand, did some range testing of the laser designation system. After looking at one jet, I decided it would be cool if a player could designate for the dropship for particular attacks:
EricJ 765 Posted April 25, 2005 Continued...... Right now the pics show the TSAM being fired, which wasn't the initial intent, the Mk.88s will be the only missiles to be laser guided (but of course being able to be fired from the dropship itself). Â Note that buildings can be targeted by this and engaged. Â Bunker busting... The third pic is actually a missile firing shot, though the Mk.88 was fired, and didn't come out (and I don't think I caught it in time anyways).
Yssabem 0 Posted April 25, 2005 building busting... omg Aliens Versus USCM CTI
Synaps 0 Posted April 27, 2005 Heck, i would love to see the beta so i dont need to hold back my urge to do more mission plots for the Alien scenery. It would be pure bliss to work on missions from lets say mai to august or september. Do you guys need a betatester???!!;)
EricJ 765 Posted April 27, 2005 There's been a small group unofficially associated with the project, and I think we have enough. Besides I've had this thing for a good while and I've pretty much run it through. But that's my opinion and thoughts, neph of course has the say on the issue. nephilim 0 Posted April 27, 2005 from my point of view beta testers are pretty useless specially when u work in team
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted April 27, 2005 from my point of view beta testers are pretty uselessspecially when u work in team not true, jennifer... Not that I'm begging to be a beta-tester for you, but beta-tester do have some use. Normally the 'team' does not have too much time on their hands. They also don't see things/bugs/other stuff because they were closely involved in the development of the addon. A beta-tester who get's the addon a late state of development will have fresh look and notice things teammebers didn't even think about. When you have a large team, than you don't really need beta-tester, but if you work with a small team than a few beta-testers could be very usefull especially if they are addonmakers themselves. hellfish6 7 Posted April 27, 2005 In my experience, 90% of all beta testers don't even test - they just want something nobody else has.
EricJ 765 Posted April 27, 2005 While I can admit some of what Hellfish6 said, I do have to say when I tested for LOMAC, it was pretty complex at the start (and in a sense is, and it was long and arduous), and 8it was just more than "hey, I got the new stuff" (I had an NDA taking care of that anyways). However, I wasn't a true external tester, more of a skin artist but was allowed to offer my two cents in. But on the other hand, beta-testing isn't fun sometimes, it's the head person correcting and changing at the last minute,n or that bug that is oh-so-bad may not get corrected. But that's for a major program as such, addons in a sense of course are alot easier (smaller). Also, most of the stuff that can be told is that the dropship is a big helicopter. A pain in the ass to fly sometimes, but after a while it's easy, but just plain chunky (to put it in neph terms). Most of the stuff right now is probably going to change in the future, and will admit some annoyance at the thing, but that's the breaks. But to keep it back on topic, here's some work on the forward legs:
MikkoFin 0 Posted April 27, 2005 In my experience, 90% of all beta testers don't even test - they just want something nobody else has. That's why internal testing is nice. After you've got all the bugs away, free it to some mission makers and then release.
EricJ 765 Posted April 27, 2005 Well, it looks like I spoke a little with my foot in my mouth:
***friendlyfire*** 1 Posted April 27, 2005 naaa they can test it themselves wot hellfish saids right if i wanted to be a beta tester i would just want the add-on
